  1. One scene not mentioned yet that made me chortle was back in TSR when Perrin turns up at the Two Rivers inn with Aiel and an Ogier.

It's not a funny line as such, more of an entire mental picture, made funnier still by the very sad scene right in the middle of it all. By the time we get to the image of Loial sitting on the kitchen floor, ears quivering, drinking tea from a bowl while Mistress al'Vere downs shots of brandy, I was laughing out loud.

And Bain and Chiad sitting at the table like good village girls as if they had been doing it all their lives lol.

  2. The point of my listing what I was given for breakfast wasn't to point out the loads of sugar, it was to point out that my Aunty was an evil woman who liked tormenting my mother when she could (they get on like a house on fire normally) in retalliation to my mother giving all her neices and nephews very noisy toys when they were young, so I appologize if that was all you took out of it, I just thought it funny that Elgee brought that situation up as I had lived through the same experiance.

Don't give me that crap; you're just after my Lucky Charms! I CAN SEE THROUGH YOU!! TEMPTRESS!! You'll not steal away part of my complete breakfast!!

(PS: Wtf are you doing apologizing to me? I'm the one who made the snooty comment.) (=

Saves and arguements if I make a snooty comment back. Also last time I checked I had male appendages  .

  3. And this is why my mother stopped letting me stay with her sister.... Cocopuffs + 5 tablespoons of sugar + hot chocolate with more sugar than the cereal = 1 VERY hyper Hayden and 1 VERY, VERY brassed off mother.

[PARTYPOOP]Sweet, looks like I get to be the nerd who mentions that a plethora of studies have shown that the ingestion of sugar by children (or anyone) does not induce hyperactivity.[/PARTYPOOP]

So, after that buzzkill I will mention that while I don't use WoT curses by themselves, I often mix them with real-life curses, such as: "well blood and bloody <f-bomb> ashes!" or "<gd> flaming piece of <s-word>!"

I also use "Light" sometimes, though. So I guess I do use one by itself, although it's more of an oath or talisman than a curse.

  4. You say 'Let the Lord of Chaos rule!' before dumping sugar into your nephews' cereal.

    ... that's just evil!

Taim would be so proud of you

  5. I can certainly see where RedMenace is coming from in regards to the difference in RL/JV (real life/Jorden verse) messurements as I myself have found it hard to actually imagine the characters at their correct heights after reading the glossery, but as randsc stated, it's all relative, and to be realistic, whats a couple inches here or there in ones imagination? As long as everythings getting the same treatment, ie- no making your favourites bigger/taller than everyone else just because you can  .

  6. I have to agree with everyone here, CoT is purely horrible.

Personally I'm a (very) slow reader so it takes me a good couple of weeks to get through each of the books, but CoT took me nearly a month and a half on my first read of it! I just got so frustraited after reading a few pages that I'd put it down and not touch it for a couple of days, but believe me when I say, once I had finished it I felt like sitting back with a cold beer and a smoke because I felt just as satisfied as if I'd had a good day at work. It's hard work keeping yourself motivated to read it, but as Red-Arm Pikeman said, the next 3 are your well earnt reward.

Keep at it mate, it'll only hurt for a moment.

  7. That's very true Avro, but if you look at the old maps online and in the Guide, to get to Shienar from the Blight, through Tarwin's Gap, you had to go THROUGH Malkier. Malkier, as described by Lord Angelmar (spelling), was the TRUE borderland as it sat above the MoD right up against the Blight. So any warning of attack to Shienar would mean that Malkier has fallen which would cause all the other Borderlands to ride up through Tarwin's Gap as quickly as they could to stop the invasion getting further down.
