  1. Wasn't space?! As if we needed scene after scene of that video game esque battle porn where trollocs were chopped down like fodder? There was more than enough room for scenes like that. i agree. We should have had more scenes between different characters. Moiraine and suian, for example, or moiraine and Lan. We didnt need SO much time spent on endless battle scenes, even if it is the Last battle, or the adventures of Pevara and Androl. Moiraine and Lan met, it was very underwhelming, but they did meet. You'd think they would be happy for each other. Maybe Lan held a grudge that she didn't tell him what was going to happen, but he honestly can't be upset about his bond being passed. So, I don't know, it got like a whole 2 sentences, but it was there. More Moiraine and Nynaeve actually communicating. I guess we can just hope they become friends. I don't think it was underwhelming, not at all. When you've known a person for as long as they have, you can say a lot by not saying anything at all. I'm sure that they had an understanding of each other. But you have to remember, when Moiraine returned, it was right before the LB, the fight for the fate of the entire Pattern. It wasn't exactly the ideal time for flowery reunions. I don't have the book here, but they were described as being a bit frosty with each other...not exactly the reunion of people who worked so closely together for 18 or so years.

  3. Well, I don't get the results so far lol Min is basically the best girlfriend ever, though her insistence on following Rand into dangerous situations got his hand burned off. If not for her being there he would have almost certainly been taking captive by Semi, it was being forced to torture Min that allowed him to break the collar. Nynaeve would be my close second, then Amys, Bair, Avi, Rhuarc, Bael, guys like Dobraine.
  4. We saw Tuon after Hawking met her, and during her meeting with Egwene she was, umm as bitchy as we've ever seen her. We have no reason to suspect that they will just release whoever wants to be released, not only because it would put Mogy back in the world, but Elaida and any of the Sharaan nasties that were captured, along with a couple hundred asshole Shaido Wise Ones...ummm, I kind of want them to keep who they have and leave it at that, as much as I abhor them, they have some pretty nasty people tied up there.
  5. Something the authors probably couldn't think up. We aren't told what she asked the Finns for because Moiraine is smart enough to have figured out some way to avoid being a snack for a couple of years.
  6. Granny for me she undermined the great captains in this book. It was necessary for Mat to get total control, but it was sad nonetheless. It's tough to guess at her total effect because they would have lost soldiers anyway, but all told their bungled strategies cost the armies 1/2 to 2/3 of their troops. Only Ilutrade was spared the indignity. I hate her to most though for messing up Avi.
  7. No, you didn't capture the tone right. The way you say it is 'yeah, I ONLY give it to people I care about' when he said 'I'll give gifts to those I care about' in a way that seems like he could give one to cads. I definitely read it that he wasn't giving one to Cads. It was written in such a way to let those of us who dislike her read it the way we want, and for the people that like her to read it in a more positive fashion. It was a perfect piece of writing for such a divisive character.
  8. Can you imagine trying to convince either of them, or Min for that matter to stay out of trouble?
  9. People already say BS bats them over the head with things, so this point of subtlety shouldn't count against him lol
  10. Until the ebook comes out I am not willing to look for page #s grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Page 738-739
  11. It's not like Elayne needs him to support her children, but ya, it's nice to have Dad around. Avi doesn't need help either, probably Min doesn't either since she's now one of the most powerful people in the Empire. So, it's nice to have a Dad around, but otherwise these kids won't exactly be lacking in financial support.
  12. Yes why like the one AS who actually swore to do what was best for Rand, not herself or the WT. She saved his life, rescued him in FM and backed him to the hilt all while teaching the lesson to all the male channelers. She constantly was looking to help people and make them better. She developed a method of stilling for male channelers that integrated them back into normal life and allowed them to live an almost normal life span. She propped up thrones, took down bands of DFs and patrolled the blight. None of that matters though because was she was a big meanie to the DR. How dare she call him out when he was acting like a fool! Well, Moiraine was also doing everything she could for the Dragon, even consigning herself to years, possibly even more years of torture. So, let's not discount her :)
  13. I agree I would like to have seen her more, but unless she is not one of the two into the SG with Rand there wasn't much opportunity. She is not an in the trenches fighter, especially not after her mellowing out, so where would you have her? I realize I am defending BS here, but there was simply no more room to have her in the book, there was a lot to deal with. She had to be in SG with Rand, that took her out of almost half of the novel. Given that the grand majority of the novel was one huge war, she wasn't that valuable as a character. I kind of agree that she could simply have died way back in FoH, I would have supported that, and been saddened by it, she is one of my favourite characters. I agree that she was not in the book much, but I also believe there wasn't any room for her in this book. Nevertheless, she was important, read my earlier post. Her role is not so bad when you break it down point form.
