  1. One other thing I would change is pretty much how Rand abandons the Black Tower in the last few books. It just makes no sense. It's one of the most important resources in terms of channelers for the Last Battle and he just left them to their fate. I'm still confused as to how he got Deepe and the other Asha'man to assist Ituralde at Maradon because I assumed he got them from the Black Tower but at that point, I can't imagine him either going there or sending someone to get them and not realizing that it was a bad situation there, not even mentioning how the Dream Spike might have already been in place there (I'm not sure if it is or is not). Or at least one of the Asha'man that went with Ituralde would say something about Taim and people getting 13x13'd. It's not like Rand didn't know something bad was going on, otherwise he would not have told Nynaeve to not go there at the beginning of ToM. I don't know, I just feel like the Black Tower was handled extremely poorly in the last couple of books.

  2. Second answer: change the spelling of Tanchico to Tanchino. I've been spelling it that way and saying it that way in my head for 15 years, only to find out I was getting it wrong when I was reading the wiki, and even then I had to confirm it by checking in my copies of the books. No idea how I mis-read that single word for 15 years.

Ha! You just made me realize that it's Tanchico and not Tanchicho. Wow, I've reread The Shadow Rising several times as well and I'm on my 4th series reread.

This reminds me, for some reason when I first starting this series, I read Emond's Field as Edmond's Field and never noticed otherwise until I got to The Shadow Rising in my current reread. I've been reading these books since 2006 (don't think there's been a month since I started that I haven't at least read a few chapters of Wheel of Time) and just realized a couple of months ago that I added the extra d to Emond's Field. I still say Edmond's Field to myself most of the time.

  3. I didn't like How Aviendha became such a minor character in books 6-11. She was pretty much just one of Elayne's sidekicks. That's one thing that definitely got better in the last 3 books, even though her appearances are limited in tGS and ToM, she felt like a main character again to me. She was one of my favorite characters in tSR and tFoH and her relationship with Rand in those two books was one of my favorite plotlines.

  4. Morgase died I thought. When Mellar captured Elayne and then brought the woman dressed up like Elayne who looked just like her, I thought that was Morgase. Maybe it was just some random person and they used the Mask of Mirrors but I'm pretty sure it was Morgase. When she was mentioned, it was in Ila's POV. Ila saw Morgase helping and then saw Mellar and his men looting the corpses. I just assumed that they took her before they went to go capture Elayne.

  5. Don't know if this meets the requirement of "simple question" but I don't feel like it's important enough for its own thread. Re-reading LoC, in Ch 1 there is mention of a young Aes Sedai who fled Caemlyn when Rand took over. Is there any clue as to who she is, or is she just a random character? After thinking about it, I thought maybe she was one of Liandrin's Black Ajah that was assigned a task back in aFoH by Moghedien because some of them aren't mentioned again after that, but I don't remember any of those Black Ajah ever being said that they don't have the Ageless face yet.

  6. I'm in the middle of re-reading tPoD, and I just finished the chapter where Morgase and co swear into Faile/Perrin's service. And at the end of the chapter, Tallanvor tells Morgase that he loves her. And if this is considered too inappropriate, I apologize, but did they, well, "go at it" after? I never thought about it until this re-read for some reason, I always assumed that when it said that Tallanvor stood up that he just left and didn't take into account the subtlety of him being "back in his own blankets". I just sat thinking about it for 15 minutes going back and forth on it, and now I'm kinda convinced they did after reading it enough, just wanted to see if there was ever any confirmation or what not. I know it's not a big deal and kind of a weird question, but I always thought I was good at catching RJ's subtle hints and just wanted to know if I indeed missed this one for so long. Just the little things, I guess.

  7. When Egwene tells Rand that Elayne meant everything she said in her letters.

Oh, and pretty much anything Mat says

Yeah that always confused me about the letters haha. It got even better when Aviendha started telling him that same thing in tSR.

  8. Her view that "The White Tower is more important than anyone or anything ever created or known to mankind" has gotten rather annoying. I completely agreed with what Nynaeve said after she did the 100 weave test in ToM. To paraphrase, it was something like "Aes Sedai try to act like we know what's best for the world and that we need to be a part of what's happening while we separate ourselves from it at the same time." Not a very good paraphrase, but oh well, I don't have my book.

Coincidentally, Nynaeve was easily my least favorite character until she and Lan got married. It's like she changed after that, whether or not her marriage was the reason or just happened at the same moment I'm not too sure on, but she has easily become one of my favorite, if not my favorite, characters of the last 3-4 books.

  9. The biggest problem I have with Sanderson's writing is the fact that he always has the characters explain everything in their heads.

Jordan was much better at giving the readers some credit for figuring out why a character did something they did.

All the Sanderson books I've read so far are the same. The characters always spell everything out clearly; he never leaves the reader in the dark on anything.

It really bothers me during his combat scenes where a character has a long inner dialog going on while fighting, it seems very unnatural.

THIS TIMES 100000000000000000000000! This is truly the only thing that I just do not like at all about the past 2 books, way too many instances where this happens. It's really annoying because a lot of the time what they are explaining is pretty obvious so it's just a wasted few lines.
