Moiraine asked for knowledge of the last battle, Rand will choose her for his third, this is my prediction.
  1. One of the things I thought was pretty big but have not heard a lot of was the tower dream Egwene had. Thirteen towers, some falling, one starts to fall but catches and rises higher than all the others. The timing seemed to me to be more associated with the present. Right now, only Graendal seems to be falling. I do not have my books infront of me now but I seem to recall several mentions of the Forsaken being encouraged to fight and even kill each other to ensure only the strongest survived. Graendal's plot line has been ambiguous from the beginning. I like her for taking over Nae'blis after the fall of Mordin.
  2. For a while now, I have thought "the three become one" refers to the intermixing of Saidar, Saidin and the True Power. Serval times "zsa" were mentioned as a by product of channeling the True Power too much. Somewhere it was mentioned, continued use of the True Power would render the channelers eyes black. With the limits of use the DO has put on the True Power, I would guess no one was allowed to channel past the black eyes part. What if channeling great amounts of the True Power, through Callendor, say, would have further reaching effects, such as the body itself? Anyone have thoughts on this?
  3. I am so glad Perrin got out of the self-loathing and emo driven attitude and finally took the mantel of leadership. He was awesome in the first books, dropped off during the middle books and finally is back to where I felt he should have been after two rivers.
  4. Mat gave up half the light of the world to save the world. Min had a viewing about Rand surely failing without a woman who was dead and gone. Moiraine is essential to the last battle and needed to save the world.
  5. Moiraine was on par with Siuan before her stilling/healing. Though she was not the strongest around, she was no slouch before. With the angreal, I think she is now as powerful as Cadsuane. Moiraine is no slouch and would be a good compliment to Rand using Challendor. We do not know yet what else Moirnaine asked for. She got the angreal but I think she also got knowledge of fourth age histories. Moiraine spoke in past tense. She had access to a place where time is odd, is it possible she would ask for the history of the last battle? With this knowledge she would have the information Rand requires to seal the bore, thus being the key to saving the world. It sounds like its a prophecy about the cleansing of the taint, the wound is the taint on saidin, LTT caused it and Rand removed it. BTW what changes everything, what was said right before, that the taint was cleansed? I don't have the book right here so cant check. My point was she was quoting in past tense. I think she already knew. Her quote reads as history not as prophecy.
  6. I am going to stick to my guns on this one. Moiraine is not very forth coming with what she got from the Aef and Elf. They way she was speaking and the fact it was written in quotes leads me to believe she was quoting not altering the text. Prior to Rand cleansing the source, he was the only one talking about it. I think Moiraine has knowledge of what is to come.
  7. It was my itent to highlight Moiraine quoting something she would have no knowledge of in past tense. As though she had knowledge of the event from reading texts. The event she is refering to, is the clensing of the Power judging from the context of the conversation. Unless BS made a typo when writing this, it sounds like she has foreknowledge of events to come.

  9. I find it courious, we have three decernable characters, "The One-Eyed Fool", "The First Among Vermin", and the "Fallen Blacksmith". The One-Eyed Fool is Mat, The First Among Vermin is Rand, The fallen Blacksmith is Perrin. I do not see why The Prophecies of the Shadow would second reference Perrin. It seems more likely to me it would reference Rand more than anyone else. I do not believe the Broken Wolf, the one whom Death has known, is one of our three. Death is capatalized in the prophecies suggesting it is a title and not an action. So, who then is the broken Wolf. I would not think of Hopper in anyway broken. I do not see Hopper as an important enough character to be mentioned in dark prophecies anyway. Unfortunately I do not have some one to put forward as the Broken Wolf. I am too tired to think about it now, it is early and I am coming off a 12er. Merry Christmas all, Happy Holidays all
  10. As far as Rand and Hawkwing fighting against each other, I would like to use a modern example. Take Irwin Rommel and George Patton. Both display qualities of heroes. They fought against each other in North Africa. I do not see the man, Rommel, as evil though the people he fought for were. Mat, Perrin and Lan are already associated with the horn in my opinion, Who ever sounds the Horn is tied to it, suggesting Mat has sounded the horn before, Hawkwing addresses him as hornsounder. Perrin is addressed as the bannerman, later Brigette says something about a Bannerman's courage. I agree with the comment about Hawkwing not wanting to "out" other heroes of the Horn. Rand was already fortold, so there was no danger in calling him out. Lan is too much a super fighter to not be. Egwene: Reunited the White Tower, bravery, putting the wellfare of the world before herself and her friends (a noble ideal), Leadership (seems a common trait among the heroes). Gawyn: (I know I am going to get flamed on this one) Potentially permanently tied to Egwene like Brigette / Gaidal, great swords man, does reflect noble characteristics once his head is clear, will continually play second fiddle to Egwene. Galad: Leadership, Charisma, noble in actions / deeds, commands respect of others through the power of himself. Verin: Willing to sacrifice her immortal soul for the greater good. I thought about Elayne, she does show lions courage at times but really, can one be tied to the horn for taking a bath?

    Nakomi

Rand recognized Mierin through her eyes into her soul. The person Rand saw was Cyndane it was not until he saw her eyes that he called her Mierin.

    Nakomi

Terez, I was making a leap there. Both Avi and Verin were in Carhien (SP?) at the same time. I assume she either met Verin or saw her.

    Nakomi

Nakomi's manerisms scream Verin, that much cannot be denied. I think I am going to have to go with the Nakomi is Verin group. Verin often talks about herself as rattling on (or words to that affect). Nakomi does the same. Avi and Verin met a few times and Avi did say there was something about that woman... I was worried about Avi recognizing someone who had not lived Ji-e-toh but Verin did spend some months as a Wise One Apprentice. I guess that was more than enough time for her to pick up on the cultural aspects. It is not a stretch to think the Forsaken would teach her some things such as how to hide her ability to channel, for certain missions required, along with inverting her weaves. The timeline definitely fits into Verin's quite nicely. Too many things point to Verin, IMHO. On a personal note: I think it would be cool for Nakomi to be one of the Jenn Aiel (because I would like to see a Jenn Aiel in the current story). This could bring a whole new demension to the WOT. I like the idea but I agree it is not plausible. *Edited to remove a part that made no sense (ADHD)

    Nakomi

Many good theories in place here. My primary problem with Nakomi being Verin is the interaction between her and Avi. It is the cultural familiarity. In this I am not talking about the Ji-e-Toh or the conversation as much as I am the food aspects. Verin did not travel the waste with Rand and crew. Yes I know Verin was a book worm (an over zealous brown). Verin't time as an apprentice was not enough (in my mind) for her to pick up on the cultural nuances of one having lived that life. It seemed to me Nakomi had an intimate knowledge of Aiel culture Internal conflict on this: "Perhaps it is far from me". She emphasized this. Is she talking about home being the White Tower, her soul (knowing Verin sold hers for study of the BA), another world or whatever? Nakomi was described as having a brown skirt and a brown blouse. IRC most Aiel wear a white blouse (perhaps that is the way I picture them in my mind). She was also described as being middle aged with gray hair (This would fit Verin but many others as well). Jenn Aiel, this one has merits but still kind of hard to swallow. The last of the Jenn Aiel were seen in the vision as the last Aes Sedai were close to dying (IRC). That was a long time ago. How to keep one alive other than one of the portal worlds? I think there is a possibility of the large rock Avi made her camp next to being a very weathered head of a statue perhaps. It does not have to be the protal stone itself, only near it. Case in point, Perrin's battle with the Trollocs to save the White Cloaks. The portal stone was burried but the Trollocs were still able to appear. I am still on the fence on this one. I will have to re-reread this some more.
  15. I just want you to know, I hate you all, not really...um yeah...really...but congrats anyway. I will be avoiding all things WOT for the next nine days waiting for my book ... envy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
