If the a'dam blocks a person's entry into TAR, wouldn't an a'dam in T'AR have a similar effect?
-
Mr Ares, you forgot to add that you faced everything on your own feet.;-)
You know you're a WoT fan when you ask yourself 'What would Semirhage do?' when in a dilemma. How's that for evil, Elgee?
-
You say 'Let the Lord of Chaos rule!' before dumping sugar into your nephews' cereal.
I also try to be mule-headed stubborn, but end up acting wool-headed. Does that count?
PS Rosee, my earlier post wasn't entirely true. It wasn't true at all, but I'd like to do it someday.

When you run around a hospital screaming 'Death is lighter than a feather!'

In EotW they never stayed in the stedding, as I recall. Wait, do you mean when he was taken by the Whitecloaks? I believe Perrin was unconscious at the time.
IIRC Perrin goes into the Wolf Dream only from TDR onwards.
And in ToM he once enters the Dream near ToG, and then pretty much every practise session with Hopper, I assume. This was after the dreamspike was in place.
Also the Finnland can be entered via TAR, according to Birgitte, at least.
-
Then why kill Sahra? She would've blurted everything to an Aes Sedai if the sister asked politely.
-
I doubt anybody bothered to ask. But since probably Alviarin knew about Sahra Covenry, I'd bet it was her.
P.S It would be awesome if they send a Terminator from the future to save Sahra Connor. Sorry, Covenry.
-
Any idea where that is?
Absolutely not.
Could be TAR. Perrin goes into Lanfear's 'lair' in TAR once, and she throws him out - the specifics of which I've never completely understood. Being the Daughter of the Night, it seems likely that she'd live there - in TAR.
-
In ToM in the Perrin vs Slayer in the nightmare thing Perrin was described as having the Dreamspike in one hand, the staff in one hand, and the knife he kinda poked Slayer with in one hand... when did he get the extra hand?
The spike is a thin silver rod. Couldn't he hold it along with the knife?
in tGS Rand balefires Semirhage by chanelling the TP, yet in the 13th depository, RJ states that being shielded from the source also shields one from the the TP. Has this been clarified at all??
Good catch. But Rand isn't shielded with the Domination Band - he's in a circle. It's still murky.
-
Not an errata per se, but too many of the second line characters were missing. I can chalk up Logain to suspense - but where is Dobraine? Sorilea? The BA with Rand (Nelean? sounds right)? Talaan and Merilille (I think they've lost their way. Or they are both dead. Curious that the Windfinders didn't even ask about Talaan.)
And I'm still disgusted by Bain and Chiad touching weapons.
Maybe I should be glad that the book was actually published. Mr Sanderson better have some answers!
-
Rhuarc refers to the Three Fold land as the Waste. Cringe.
Bain and Chiad touching weapons - Double cringe.
Black Ajah attack in TAR - Eyes fall out.
Though the last maybe from Corianin's stash that the wonder-girls never got hold of. Nynaeve and Siuan are using new sleep-weavers that Elayne made, which maybe upto the full potential - the one she's using doesn't make her transparent since WH.
Thom becomes Tom - FAIL.
-
It's a pseudo-stedding (never heard that phrase before, but it's succinct) and since it doesn't stop a weave from outside the Guardian, someone could balefire Far Madding. That's a curious notion, huh.
-
Could it be that Thom used one of his flash-and-bang powders?
Uh, why? Everyone had already run the hell away, and I really doubt that would help with something that sees without eyes. Also: what are you talking about? What "powder"? I don't remember that at all.
Rodel's anecdote about the master juggler may not be about Thom; but if it is, maybe Thom (or maybe any gleemen) carries a flash-and-bang ball or powder with him. Whether or not it would be effective, might not be something Thom would be thinking when he's grappling with a Fade; it may work as a distraction, and that alone is worth something. Way too many 'mays' and 'mights' in it for me; but it is a simpler explanation than Thom channeling sheet lightning or a rogue male channeler saving the day or Rand channeling without a later reaction. And by Occam's razor..

It's in his wardrobe.

In tEotW Lan tells Nynaeve that he doesn't have even a croft in his name. But in NS, isn't there a reference to Shienaran estates in his name?
Or am I mixing up stuff?
@Didymos : is that avatar an aquatic microorganism? or is that a myrddraal bending over?

Plus, if you can channel TP, why would you need an angreal?
So you can channel more of it? I see no reason to think TP-strength is different than OP-strength. Plus, it's not like the TP is a "WIN" button. It mostly does the exact same stuff the OP can do, and even the weaves are extremely similar (per Brandon). That said, TP-greal still probably don't exist.
I was guessing that with the TP, there was no need of worrying about strength : Rand's description of the TP is that 'it gave him such strength as he'd never imagined. It rivaled, even, the power when drawing from the Choedan Kal.' But since Rand isn't the most accurate observer (ha) I'm willing to concede that we don't know enough about it.
And the OP didn't kick TP's ass last time. More like they kicked each other, and then fell down unconscious.

I don't care if Cadsuane hurt Rand's feelings. She did what was right, and it worked. You can't much get around that.
Didn't Caddy herself say that she 'bungled' with Rand al'Thor? Even Loial knew she was going downhill with Rand, and he actually trusts Aes Sedai. My point being, she was right only in parts - she would've been more effective if she'd given some positive encouragement along with all the bullying. That worked with Nynaeve, and she's just as Two Rivers stubborn as Rand.
In that respect, she has shown a typical AS quality - utter faith in bullying.
-
Unless Callandor was made by a Friend of the Dark, I don't see how it could use TP. Or it was used by one of the Forsaken, who then confessed everything to a scholar just before he was sealed. Plus, if you can channel TP, why would you need an angreal?

Question:
Was Rand touched by the Shadar Logoth taint? He was with Mat the whole time he had the dagger so isn't it possible?
And then he was attacked by Fain and the wound couldn't all that have contributed to his darkness as much as his multiple "box" incidents.
AFAIK Mat hadn't started infecting other people because the SL taint hadn't conquered him yet. I can't seem to remember if Verin explains this in TGH, but Moirane had him shielded. As for Fain's attack, that taint is still fighting with the DO taint from Ishamael. Rand has handled that very dagger in TGH, but nothing has happened to him so far.
It is an intriguing thought, though post-VOG it is merely academic. The SL taint seems to work on hatred and suspicion, while Rand's madness focuses on keeping LTT away, with only touches of suspicion. And he can be justified in his suspicion of others - almost everyone else has ulterior motives. So I'd vote against it.

It would also explain how the Finns have an interpreter who talks Randish (the new tongue).
That was already explained: the Firsts of Mayene used it up until three hundred years ago when it was short-sightedly traded to Tear, and they regularly allowed other people to go through as well. And the interpreter they had was out of date, to boot. Rand said "she talked like an old book" and some words were almost indecipherable.

Letter 1 : I will miss you. I will miss the kissy kissy. Do not ever lie to me.
Letter 2 : I will never miss you, you mule-head. If you even think of me, I will turn you into stone, you wool-head. You couldn't say you'll miss me, despite the fact that I demanded that you never lie.
@BBM - True, but if the Finns live in a perpendicular world, then the our past and future would be at the same point for them, so it is possible for Moirane to go back in our time, without breaking the laws of physics. Rand wouldn't recognise Moirane, because she's been starved by the Finns to become an old hag (it sounds insane to me), and the bells started ringing because there were two Moiranes in close proximity ( even more crazy ). It would also explain how the Finns have an interpreter who talks Randish (the new tongue).
-
I fail to see how losing half the world's troops could qualify as losing half the light of the world. To me that sounds like losing most of it.
Q: If Finnland is folded in mysterious ways, could it be that Rand's interpreter was... Moirane herself?
Q2: (More speculation) If Rand were severed, how would that affect the Rand - Moridin bond?

It's his eye.
