  1. 2 questions about Damane:

-How come Alivia was sent to fight against Asha'man when, if I understand correctly, the more powerful a damane the better her station in the Seanchan Empire (closer to the Empress??)? Why was she not with the high lady Suroth or even further, with Tuon or the Empress herself?

-Where do all those adam come from? Do some damane have a talent in making ter'angreal? Or were they all created by the time the Seanchan Empire was founded? In that case, how come they (who?) have made this many?

  2. A Question, when Rand fights the Seanchans near Ebou Dar (and even right after the supergirls use the Bowl of Winds) the use of both saidar and saidin is more than problematic. They talk of the One Power not doing what they want, the Damane being suck, saidin pulsating etc... It's easy to guess that it's related to the heavy use of the One Power during the wheather being put back to normal, but I don't remember having once a clear explanation on the why it did this to the One Power on both the male and female sides whereas the Cleansing of saidin didn't do anyhting but... cleansing with amounts of saidin and saidar woven being so much more massive.

Was it because there were no male channeler present to weave saidin?

What exactly happened to the True Source there? Has it been removed? Do we even know?

  3. Re-reading Lord of Chaso and something hit me:

Have we ever had an explanation to where Perrin's nose ability to tell one emotion from another just by the smell of it (a concept hard to visualize to me) come from ?

I mean I know it's the wolf thing, but even if that explains for the enhanced senses, I don't get it for the emotion things.

May it be the but? (I sure don't think so, but it's worth the try)

  4. Another question (I know, I love that, I'm a curious boy):

Is the amount of power a sa'angreal allows you to channel related anywhere to its size?

We've seen both the Koedan Chal and Callandor which are both bigger, in an obvious way, than other angreal/sa'angreal (I'm thinking about the fat little man with a sword that Rand can put in his pocket), the culmination of it being the Koedan Chal which are just gigantic. Because, if that is a rule, we could expect the famous 2nd strongest male sa'angreal ever, if it still exists, to be something quite big.

    Any answer?

Besides, I was wondering whether there were female sa'angreal as powerful as Callandor. We've the Bowl of Wind or Weather, but it's made in the purpose of controlling the weather, not to increase one's strength. Don't women have very powerful, single person sa'angreal?

  5. Ok, so clear answer: RAFO right?

Interesting posts by the way. I kinda love all of those ancient quotes from RJ and their interpretations as a newbie that never had a chance to hear them live.

  6. In TFOH there were some hints that Leane might be ahem... leaning (I ask for your pardon for this) towards Logain.

I'm in the middle of LOC in my reread but I can't remember if this "relationship" has gone deeper or if it has been left there. That might be something of minor importance in Tarmon Gaid'on, but still important. Leane/Logain bonded.

I'm up to Morgase's flight from Rhavin and have not noticed Leane doing anything other than teasing Logain, and I remember her continuing to do so.  I do not think she was ever attracted to him and I know that the have not hooked up and are not likely to do so.

Mmmh, there's a scene in Salidar I think where Min thinks about this flirting and contemplates Leane as being attracted to the guy... Well, maybe I've pushed too far the flirting consequences.

  7. I think it's in the BUT topic, but someone mentionned Ishamael's chord to the DO being severed during Tear's fight. Does this mean Moridin was reborn without that chord? My question more specifically, even though I think the answer is positive, is: Does the DO can "redo" that chord to ensure total obedience of its subject, if he wants to obviously?

Moreover, I don't remember it, but why in the first place did Thom go to Emond's Field? Has it been explicitly written or is this just a hell of a coincidence?

  8. That'd sure make the marriage difficult.

I see the point for the name pretending or writing lies. Damn, that 1st oath can be useless ...

Still, about writing a lie, I don't see where the impossibility lies (hum...). The 1st oath is to "speak no word that is not true". To me, writing isn't speaking. Maybe they did convince themselves so, or that is a thing that is not a law, but has become as binding as a law by habit.

  9. The Light might consider it interesting having someone from the inner core of the Shadow to its service.

One of the chosen is an obvious choice, and Semirhage might have been "turnable" since she's been kept shielded for a long time.

Another choice might be Taim, since he's considered by some to have been turned to the Shadow. Turning him back to the Light would be a pain in the ass of the Shadow with all his Warsha'man.

  10. We've seen many references to the 13*13 of someone tu turn him/her to the Dark One, but is there any mention of the reverse???? Like turning a  darkfriend to the light with something similar to 13*13, and obviously, leading the way to turning a chosen to the light?

That seems kinda strange to me that only the shadow can turn someone, but not the other way around. I was wondering whether that has been completely ruled out or is it an open question? (I think one could argue that the light doesn't use the techniques of the shadow, and compelling someone to the light might be one, but turning someone back to the light ought to be a "good" action)

    Thanks

  11. I know that for obvious reading smoothness everybody has to speak the same language, but that's something that's always bugged me from the very beginning. How come in this whole world, supposedly as vast as our real world, has there ever been only 1 single language for all the peoples. I mean, come on, even in 1 country alon you have so many dialects, and there would be the same language, albeit slightly different accents, on the whole world of WoT including across one huge ocean?

I can't buy it. RJ must have thought about this being illogical given all that he's been thinking through.

Is there any reason to that, 1 language for all, aside of making the story easier to write?

Besides, I have 1 other thought, who the hell is Jack-o the Shadow which is referenced in the song?

Could it be an important character? Or only a metaphore of death?

  12. Why is the Aiel Waste so dry?

Has there ever been an explanation for why it is so damn hot and lacks so much rain?

I mean, judging by the maps, it goes North up to the Blight, and it never goes further South than Andor. It should be some king of cold desert like the Gobi one in Mongolia. I don't know much of the weather mechanisms in WoT, but is the Spine of the World enough to stop clouds from the Western lands?

And what are the Termool?? Are they glimpsed within the books?
