  1. Dont think Semirhage prolonging for the torture was a dumb. She would never have guessed that he could access the True Power. Never in a million years. (Although, what bothers me is why his bonded chicks didnt come running. With him attempting to kill Min, it surely would have been felt through all the bonds. I fully expected to read about a rescue party before the True Power incident. I mean Aviendah was in camp. Elayne could have travelled, and Alanah, dunno where she was???). On the other hand, Semirhage going up against Rand with a handful of damane is DUMB. You're up against the strongest channeller the world has known and you take a few chanellers who CANT link. DUMB.
  2. As people have already said, there are many great moments. -Veins of Gold -Dumanis Wells -TEOTW Prologue -TOM - The triple fight at the White Tower - Perrin v. Slayer, Eugwene v. Forsaken, & Ghalad v the three Seanchen dudes. -The Cleasing But what hasnt been mentioned yet was early on in TEOTW (Tellings of the Wheel) where Moiraine speaks about the fall of Manetheren. It's only a page and a half, but very moving.
  3. Yes, I noticed tempest on my first read through. It was everywhere. Glad someone else noticed.
  4. Jordan didnt say it cant be fixed without aid. He said it probably cant be fixed without aid. That leaves open the possibility that it could be fixed without aid, but is vague enough to drive a truck through. I'd say it can be fixed with aid, but that's a personal opinion. If your moral compass cant be made to point to Shayol Guyol, then it would stand to reason it cant be made to point to the Light.
  5. New Theory I've been pondering this one for a while. I've read every page in this thread too :o :o. And last time I checked, it wasnt in Lurkers compilation thread. I could be wrong on both accounts though. ::) Given the BUT is similar to the Mistborn unnoticed thing, I began to think about the Mistborn series. In that series, it was an ear-ring right? I've read someone's summary of the Mistborn Unnoticed thing. Is it similar in that people don't notice it, or is it similar in that it's like an ear-ring, or both? It got me thinking. What is something in Randland's major characters that is like an ear-ring? My suggestion is Rand's Dragons on his arms, the ones he got at Rhuidean. I suspect they may be a Ter'angreal, that we don't know the purpose yet (maybe channel in Shayol Guyol??). We do know that it's possible for a terangreal to make other power wrought devices - such as the terangreal that makes the Warders shifting cloaks. And we do know that Aes Sedai often wear *angreal in their hair (Cadsuane) or as a necklace (Mat). So it's not beyond the realms of possibility. And these *angreal can appear sparkly, like Rand's jewels. Now, Rand got thse Dragons at Rhuidean. Rhuidean contained many *angreal transported by the Jenn Aiel on behalf of the AoL Aes Sedai. One particualar device (the glass columns maybe) marks Clan Chiefs with one Dragon (we dont know how/if it marks the women, survival is enough). We know it marked Rand twice, marking him as He who comes with the dawn. It the thing that marks Clan Chief a ter'angreal? Apart from marking him, could the rose coloured jewels in his arms be a ter'angreal? He certainly looks at them and wonders what they mean: From The Shadow Rising (Book 5) - Chapter 9 - Decisions Could Rand's sparkling jewel Dragon's be a ter'angreal? Maybe the Aol's Aes Sedai prepared a little surprise for him...... It begins in book 4, and continues through Book 5 (above). The only thing not going for it is ongoing reference. I dont think it is referred to enough, but I could be wrong. Thoughts?
  6. Have we come across ter-angreal that make other *angreal? Not, is it possible, but have we seen it.
  7. Yeah, but the problem with some of these theories (like having a spare oath rod tucked away, or ducking off to Tel'aran'rhiod) is that they reswore the oathes and then immdediatly stated they were not BA. I dont doubt that those kind of theories were/are possible and may be legitimate ways to break the Oath Rod, but not the way that Brandon has hinted.
  8. All of us just list the oaths, like this: 1. To speak no word that is not true 2. To make no weapon with which one man may kill another 3. Never to use the One Power as a weapon except against Shadowspawn, or in the last extreme defense of her life, the life of her Warder or another Aes Sedai When seen like this, they are independant oaths. However, wouldnt it be more like this: I swear to speak no word that is not true, to make no weapon with which one man may kill another, and to never use the one power as a weapon...... etc That is what most Aes Sedai would say, and mean. 3 oaths, all in one sentence. I suggest you could circumvent the three oaths like this: I swear to speak no word that is not true: to make no weapon with which one man may kill another, and to never use the one power as a weapon...etc. So in effect, you are only swearing 2 oaths. Everything bolded is the preamble. It could be your intention to say the oath like that. So what you intend is this: what I am about to speak, right now, is true: that I wont make a weapon or use the OP as a weapon. But everything else that comes after: such as I'm not a darkfriend, or I'm not black Ajah, is fine, because you're not bound with regards to truth telling. First post, by the way.
