  1. Well at least it is something, and not the worthless stuff Tor is releasing recently.
  2. I doubt it. An army of only 1/2 million Trollocs can be defeated by the forces Rand has, someone like Ituralde would know this. He also knows that the Seanchan have the largest fighting force, this is why he stated he hoped the DR turned the Seanchan around. He has faced two Seanchan armies of 300,000 with 100's of damane, defeated one and ran from the other. Even Mat hasn't faced off against that kind of numbers yet.
  3. The Great Lord of Dark will eventually win.
  4. Rand will wake up and realize that this was all a bad dream. The End.
  5. Good God Entreri, are you truly back at it once again with these crazy claims of Rand killing 1 million trollocs with the power at Maradon? For frame of reference in KoD Bashere said he had never seen a trolloc raid bigger than 1,000 in number. It would take far less than 1 million for Ituralde to make the claim above. I'm always astounded that people flat out ignore author quotes and textual evidence on this one. LOL. When have I ever said he killed 1 million? Given Brandon's description (thousands dying within moments, at least 1 hour of channeling), I count approx 180,000 dead and that is me being very conservative. Do the math yourself. Iturlade has faced 2 ARMIES numbering 300,000, with 100's of DAMANE, and defeated one, for him to state this, the Trolloc Army was TITANTIC. Why is it so hard for you to believe that a Trolloc Army could be that large, given it is mentioned many times that Trollocs VASTLY outnumber the human armies? You are going to see many more titanic Trolloc armies in AMOL. My bad...misunderstood where you were going with this. Ok. See my additional comments...Ituralde is probably the greatest general next to Mat...for him to be that intimidated by the size of the Trolloc Army is saying something.

You are going to see many more titanic Trolloc armies in AMOL. Say if it was merely a 100,000, like at the manor house, Iturlade would have not commented.. And certainly any major nation army could defeat 100,000 Trollocs...Andor would have at least 100,000 men and that goes for most of the nations. Further, Ituralde is well aware of what forces Rand has, including 200,000+Aiel (which Iturlade would equate to having 400,000+ wetlander army...) So even a Trolloc Army at 1/2 million would not phase him so.
  7. You are correct about the size of the Borderland Army, it is 200,000. It was 300,000 for the Seanchan force and he is facing off against another 300,000 Seanchan force. The Gathering Storm. "Half of Iturlade's hundred thousand, dead. On any other battlefield, fifty thousand casualties would have shamed and angered him. But he'd faced down a force three times his size, and one with damane at that". After Ituralde destroyed the first army a second Seanchan one comes in: "This new Seanchan general," Iturlade said., "is marshalling over three hundred thousand men, with a good two hundred damane". Randland armies can have Aes Sedai healers and now Asha'man healers...damane have learned to heal as well...In WWI, a lot of soliders died to disease, trench warfare. With the One Power, Star Trek like healing is possible. This further leads credence to Ituralde's statement that nothing short of the Seanchan could stop the vast Trolloc Army (likely numbering at 1 MILLION), which Rand DESTROYED by himself.
  8. Shai'tan cannot be killed. Now that he is Rand Sedai he knows better. However, there may still be a way to shut Shai'tan off for good, from Randland at least. I don't think so, but we will have to RAFO.
  9. That's just not true. You don't seem to understand that it was literally impossible to raise, train, supply and concentrate such forces before the industrial age. The Seanchan clearly have a few million men under arms, if we include the Seanchan homeland, and it's likely over half a million just in the Westlands, but it's impossible to concentrate more than a couple of hundred thousand in any one place. Even that would strain their logistics to the near breaking point. It's a big advantage the Shadow has had over the light since the Breaking. The Ten Nations of the 2nd Compact may each have been able to raise an average of half a million men for a total of 5 million, but they can't concentrate them in force like the Trollocs do. The Trollocs can eat the dead, theirs or the enemy, and the Dark One doesn't care if they die. Hmm...250,000 Wetlander armies from the various Border regions...An army of 300,000 Seanchan(+conquered nation troops) going after Iturlade. So I would have to disagree. The Seanchan would have good logistics. Various creatures to carry burden, they even have flying creatures and now Travelling. You can't get better than Travelling...best sci-fi equivalent is Trek type teleportation. They have brought a lot of labourers and we see that Seanchan easily restore order in various nations they conquer.
  10. That would a Type I phaser my friends.
  11. Looks like she is conspitated, it happens to the best of us.
  12. All these numbers are on the low side if the population is that large. Now it would be understandable if the world was peaceful or the Seanchan weren't a military powerhouse. We should be seeing Seanchan armies numbering in the millions and at least 10,000 damane in Randland (so for a major battle, 1000 damane). Instead we have armies numbering in the range of 100,000-300,000 (which includes conquered land armies) and damane in the range of 100-200.
  13. "Napoleonic France is a better comparison". French population was around 30 million in 1800 and Napolean military might was well over 500,000 at it's height. The number of channelers is pretty strange as well...Even with only 30,000 damane, we haven't seen a 1000 Seanchan damane force. They would have brought a very sizeable damane force considering the White Tower...
  14. With 10 million figure, Randland can have 100 million and world population of around 300 million is not out of the question. Pretty shocking considering the wars and devastation. I would say that it would be a lot larger than that if we are going to base an estimation off that. The Seanchan continent is twice as large and at least twice as populated as Randland part of the world. In fact - land of madmen aside - it wouldn't be a stretch to say that it is the least populated area of the world. The brunt of the Shadow's attack has been on this part of the land. The Blight is focused there, near Shayol Ghul. The Blight around Seanchan was almost completely destroyed, and all indications point to the Sharan Blight being less than the mainland. The Trolloc Wars and Post-Hawkwing demise was focused mainly on Randland. With all the shrinking kingdoms and diminishing populations in Randland - Seanchan being twice the size has been largely unified for the past 1000 years (minor and even major rebellions aside - Seanchan power has not diminished [at least until Semirhage]) and - if we can believe the information - Shara has been whole since the Breaking (again, failed rebellions aside). This type of unified power promotes population growth and expansion. So I would say that if Andor has 10million, 100 mil would be a relatively good estimate. For a more conservative approach, I'll lessen it to around 70 million. Seanchan would be around 250-500 million and Shara 150-350 million. Add on 50 million for the Sea Folk/any Islanders/ LoM/ other possible populations, you have a conservative estimate of 520 million, and anything between 520 and 1 billion. (the maximum estimate) You could well be right in the 500 million. What I find very strange is how small the armies are. Even at 250 million, the Seanchan should be fielding armies that number in the millions, they forever to prepare to come to the mainland. And the rest of Randland, the armies are pretty small, given the state of affairs (Aiel War, the Blight, tension between various nations). For example, the US and Seanchan are similar military powerhouses, but Seanchan military seems quite small. The US had over 15 million enlisted in WWII with a population about half the size of the Seanchan (250 million). And in non war time, population of 300M, the US can call up 7 million.
  15. With 10 million figure, Randland can have 100 million and world population of around 300 million is not out of the question. Pretty shocking considering the wars and devastation.
  16. Population of this world is very small, I would be shocked if it apporached anywhere near 500 million, which is the population of Earth in 1500 AD...this was mainly due to China and India. Take those two countries away, the pop would come around 200 million. Thus if I had to guess, 200 million tops for WoT. Mainland Randland has been devasted by various wars...Population 30-40 million. Shara, can't be more than 20 million (Shara is mostly a wasteland with little green vegatation accorinding to the map). The large population center would be in the Seanchan mainland, where there are no Trolloc Hordes/Trolloc Wars, but still, can't be more than 100 million (but at least 50 million), the rest of the population is scattered around the world. Only in modern times has the population been concentrated in the cities. So even if Tar Valon is only 500,000, the surrounding countryside could bump that up to 3-4 million and so on.
  17. I like this list! Other possiblities: Apples (they only flower once a year, trust me, I have apple trees). This is IMPOSSIBLE. The grain etc, that is just probablity. Only cuendillar will stop balefire, Callandor split it in half...now is that due to TAR or something else. How about the Light in his mind holding back the taint? Etc... Not surprised in the least that TP can destroy cuendillar and that Brandon confirmed it. Whatever can be created, the TP/Shai'tan can destroy it (just as Grandael stated), be it Creation, cuendillar, the gholam etc.
  18. Not with the Finns. I would not entirely rule out the possibilty of increasing one's "natural" OP strength limit. We know that it can go in the other direction (healing of stilling patients...Finns drainig). Angreal and sa'angreal can increase one's capacity. As for Lanfear, she is still a woman and is not beyond any other woman in term's of strength (her POV when confronting Alivia) and every Chosen knew of her strength. Asmodean related the difference between men and women's strength in terms of physical strength (arm). In order to increase physical strength, one has to keep pushing and pushing (beyond what they think is impossible). This might have happened when Rand wielded the Choden Kal and was about to destroy the world, if not, then it is indeed impossible.
  19. Tam at his peak could have been a top 5 blademaster, but nowhere near the abilities of the current Lan. Rand, two handed was declared #2 blademaster in the world by the authors. However there is a gap between Lan and two handed Rand and it is not small (e.g. very close, hair difference). Even though Rand was not taking Toram Riatin seriously (jacket and gloves on), Toram was able to keep up with Rand. Lan finished Toram rather easily and within a few seconds. I have no doubt that Lan can take out 10 at once. I am looking forward to the Last Battle and seeing Lan fighting. After reading Bradon's The Way of Kings (great book btw, and rather massive 1007 pages), there is definitely one aspect that Brandon is better than RJ at, fighting scenes.
  20. His purpose is to kick some butt and being one of Perrin's errand boys.
  21. 1 week at the most... Thanks. "Like Sutt said, one week at the most. However, AMOL will be an S.O.S. title, meaning the bookstores cannot legally sell it to you before the actual release date." I doubt some of these struggling small bookstores have time to keep track of various publishers release dates. They will all go the way of Blockbuster. It is too bad there is no Amazon Kindle version out. I hate carrying around or shelving these massive books.
  22. A most interesting review. When do bookstores typically receive a new item before they put on the shelves? 1 week, 2 weeks prior?
  23. Then Aginor would also have to be an extermely dexterous man, since he went blow to blow with LTT. Aginor would be slightly above LTT in dexterity. Ishamael would have to be right there, given he battled him several times and while losing, we never hear of LTT's extremely dexterous nature (only about his strength from any of the men or women Forsaken). And of course Moridin is ready to battle him again. Then we have to think that Demandred would have to be extremely dexterous man as well, given he is a hair less than LTT. So it appears that the strongest men are extermely dexterous as well.. Then one comes to the same conclusion, the strongest man (LTT) would still very easily overwhelm the strongest woman (Lanfear). And even men who are not the strongest would also easily overwhelm Lanfear.
