  1. How strong is Rand now he has no Choedan Kal. Is he still getting more powerful or is just like the rest of his Asha'man.  Will he truly have all of LT abilities, or not?

Will he get back the little fat man when he meets up with Perin again.  Surely it was with the stuff that Fiale confiscated from the Shaido Aiel?

Rand is every bit as strong as Ishamael was, as LTT was... the strongest there is.

The little fat man has been debated here a lot (in the BUT thread also, I believe) but I don't remember that part where Fail would have taken things from the Shaido. But anyway, Rand had the LFM angreal on him when he was captured, and the Shaido didn't get their hands on him an any moment. I can't see how they would have had the opportunity to get the LMF.

I always assumed Sevanna had the LFM when she left Dumai's Well but it may have been something else and so was not part of the cach Faile confiscated from the Shaido after the battle at Malden.

  2. Hello there, I'm new here my first post, so I'm sorry if it has already been answered somewhere else (I read through the whole thread, a very interesting read I must say).

In the firs book EoTW, Min tells Rand about a few visions she has of him during his stay in Bearlon. If I recall correctly one of these was about a "golden hand". And as we know, Rand loses his hand in one of the later books.

Is there a connection between these two incidents? I'm appealed to believe he will regain his hand somehow, thought the connections are quite weak.

What about this, the hand has been replace with a hand of gold during the final chapter of TGS.  As most of u know that chapter was called Veins of Gold.  I can't be that far out there. ;D

  3. what exactly is a shocklance?

Sammael says that he wishes he had one and it would make things a lot easier as far as killing Rand or something.  Is it just...well, literally a lance that shocks you?

I think the bent black rod that Asne got from Moghedien and uses in KoD Ch. 31 might be a shocklance. It sounds like it works pretty much like a phaser in Star Trek - basically that it's an energy gun. She says it can kill or stun at a hundred paces, and the description of what it does sounds like some sort of ray gun to me. Thoughts?

I don't remember where this quote came from-someone else would need to dig it up-but I'm pretty sure RJ said that was kind of like a shock-pistol.  A smaller version that worked in much the same way.  And yes, it does kind of sound like a phaser.

    Voila:

A Crown of Swords book tour 9 October 1996, Dunwoody, GA - Erica Sadun reporting

Q:  Are shocklances guns, or an energy discharge weapon?

    RJ:  Energy discharge weapons.

Robert Jordan Tour Report: Dayton, OH Tim Kington

Q: Was the gizmo used to capture Elayne a shocklance?

A: It was a variation. A shocklance is more like a rifle, and this was more like a pistol.

Good stuff, thanks for the info. now if the Band had them, but I suppose you have to be able to Channel >:(

  4. People have speculated that Aviendha becomes (became?) a Wise One when SHE decides that her apprenticeship is over.

I wondered, though, because if I recall correctly a Wise One has to enter Rhuidien two times; once to go through the rings and another time to do something else (revisit the history of the Aiel as Rand did?).  Is the second visit moot now that Rand revealed that information, or is the experience of living her ancestors still important to her gaining the title Wise One?

the wise ones think it is important, they sent her backto rhuiden

Each Wiseone must enter Rhuiden Twice first at the completion of her apprenticeship  and one other time not sure when. Aviendha was escorted to the traveling ground by Amys and given instruction on what she must do.
