    The 4th Age podcast team
Our topic this week comes to us via an email request from a listener, Sara. In this installment we are also pleased to welcome Marc to the 4th Age team. He joins Andrew and Virginia to discuss the complex and fascinating character Padan Fain, also known as Ordeith and Mordeth.

Padan Fain pops up from the very first book, The Eye of the World, and as the series progresses he evolves from a seemingly harmless peddler visiting the Two Rivers to an increasingly powerful and deadly antagonist to Rand, Mat and Perrin. Please join us as we discuss this most unusual character.

Also, please excuse the audio quality in this episode. The computer we were using to record this one was either taken by the Dragon, or perhaps Fain worked one of his little “tricks” on it. In any case, one of our new volunteer editors, Eol, did the best he could with a far less than normal quality recording. Eol is responsible for getting Episode 40 and this one out to you in an amazingly short time, and we are extremely grateful for his very professional help! A big thanks to him and all our new volunteer editors!

    The 4th Age podcast team
Join 4th Age podcasters Andrew and Virginia as they discuss some of the most fascinating characters in the Wheel of Time series, the backbone of Seanchan Imperial power, the Suldam and Damane. We discuss the Seanchan and their most fearsome weapon and how they relate to the main characters in the book, as well as how we think they will affect events in the Last Book.
As an added bonus, Andrew Gelos did a little research and found the song that Robert Jordan had in mind for the song Dance with Jak o’the Shadows, which often figures prominently in the sections about Mat and the Band of the Red Hand. A sample is included in this podcast.Dovie’andi se tovya sagain

Special thanks to our new editors, David, who did a wonderful job with this episode and one yet to be released, and Ian, who has done splendid work on several podcasts including on Objects of the Power part 1 and is working hard on part 2. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

    The 4th Age podcast team
Brandon Sanderson joins 4th Age podcasters Virginia, Jessie, Andrew and Marc for a very special, extra-length, LIVE interview recorded while Brandon was in Los Angeles for his recent book tour for his newly released Mistborn 3: Hero of Ages. He talks about his work on A Memory of Light and many other aspects of the Wheel of Time and answers many questions presented on behalf of the listeners and ourselves. You’ll hear information you can find nowhere else! A fascinating insight into the mind of a very talented and disciplined author and creative mind. Please join us for our exciting chat with Brandon.

    The 4th Age podcast team
Leigh Butler joins us on the podcast. Leigh is doing the popular WoT read-through blog on tor.com, and she shares some of her insights with us. We had a lot of fun and we hope you will enjoy hearing her comments on the series her as much as we enjoyed chatting with her! Join Andrew, Virginia, Amir and Jessie in the fun!

Our undying gratitude goes out to editor David who finished this one up in record time! He also did the best he could with some very difficult audio files, and we apologize for the audio quality. Unfortunately due to crazy schedules and time zone differences, several of us, including Leigh, needed to use cell phones to call into the conference call Jessie set up for us, and this was the best we could get out of that situation.

    The 4th Age podcast team
Virginia, Andrew G and Amir discuss Dragonmount founder and host Jason Denzel’s recent review of The Gathering Storm. Jason was indeed blessed by the Light – Brandon and Harriet set him up with an official advance reading copy of the book! We forgot to ask him if it was in the form of a ter’angreal such as Elayne and Nynaeve found in Ebou Dar, but in any case we are all envious in the extreme, to the extent of plotting like a bunch of Forsaken as to how we might relieve him of such a burden. ?

As usual, we range far and wide during the discussion, including an lively debate about Rand’s sword mastery after the events in Knife of Dreams and some genuine silliness at the very end, so please join us for the fun!

The team sends a big thank you to editor David who who finished this one up so quickly and well! Our editors are the unsung heroes behind the podcast making, and we are beyond grateful for all the hours they put in behind the scenes.

Dragonmount owner, founder, and webmaster Jason Denzel joins Virginia, Andrew G, Amir and Spencer to talk with us about his recent reading of the upcoming and highly anticipated Wheel of Time book, The Gathering Storm. He gives us some insights in the book (without revealing too much of the plot, alas!) and also tells a bit about how he first met Jim Rigney (aka Robert Jordan), his friendship with him and his family, and more.

The Gathering Storm will be the first book in the Wheel of Time series to be published after Robert Jordan’s untimely death, and the first on which Brandon Sanderson collaborated posthumously with RJ, working with his widow and editor Harriet Rigney and research assistants Alan and Maria, using extensive notes and reference material compiled by RJ before he died. Two more novels will follow to complete the main sequence of novels, with the possibility of the other two prequel Jordan had planned as well.

The team sends a big thank you and belated welcome as a new team member to editor Spencer, who not only appeared on the podcast with us again but edited it as well! What a guy!

The team sends many thanks to Spencer, one of the fantastic editing team we have now, for a job well done.

The first two chapters of Knife of Dreams are the topic of discussion by Andrew, Virginia, and Jayson Tremmel. We got all the recordings done for the recap of the entire book, but didn’t quite make it through editing and posting before the release of The Gathering Storm, but we are posting them all quickly so that we can move on to the NEW book! We already have our first impressions of TGS podcast recorded, and that will be posted shortly as well. LOTS of podcasts coming through in the next few days.

The team again sends thanks to editor Spencer for a job well done. He got it done in record time.
