Any Watcher Wannabes out there?

I figured that I might as well, since I think I'm currently the only active watcher. :? Am I? If I'm not, someone please tell me, so that I don't make (more of) a fool of myself. ;)

So yes. Are there any Wanderers or Wolfcubs interested in become a Watcher? Is there anyone who's just curious about being a Watcher is? Or anything like that.

I'm just probing here, seeing if... you know, there might be more than just me in the near (or even not-so-near) future. *g*

The Watchers are the Wolfkin's eyes and ears - or spies, or however you want to look at that ;) They spend very little time in the Stedding, but instead wander around the world and keep track of what's happening, using both their own skills and their own network of regular eyes and ears. It's a challenging job since most WK have enough difficulty blending in due to their eyes, but kind of necessary. Without the Watchers, the Stedding would most likely be completely behind on whatever was happening outside of it, since it isn't the Tracker's job to keep an eye on things like that (and in reality, they're probably too busy with the new Wanderers to act as eyes and ears). I believe it also used to be that the Watchers would bring back things that the Wolfkin would need and couldn't produce themselves, but they've become more self-reliant and don't really need that much any more.

Does that help? Or is it completely incoherent? :P

Sounds fun! :P I've been thinking of joining the Wolfkin for a while... I might have to write myself up a watcher... as soon as my newest character gets settled down :P Any advice for someone who wants to join up? What's overdone and what do you not see enough of???

Ooh, yay! More WK to be! :D

Anyway... Advice? My first piece of advice is to stay away from the obvious cliches - trollocs attacking and killing the parents, things like that. I've also seen quite a few huge men who have already had some basic sword training, and whatnot, but that might just be a recent trend. *shrug* I generally don't see a lot of mildly tragic pasts, which I suppose is kind of expected - I mean, how would your parents react if your eyes suddenly were golden and you were hearing voices in your dreams? ;) That said, it is possible to have a peaceful and relatively trauma-free Howling (heck, Leila did - the traumas didn't happen until after I started playing her *g*).

But yeah... I'd be happy to answer any questions, either now or when you send me your bio (as I'm also the bio-checker). :)
