Character Information Post: Gera Mondwin

Name: Gera Mondwin

Age: 60'ish in the main timeline

Nationality: Cairhienin

Physical Description: Short and dark, like most Cairhienin women, a bit plump with age.

Personality: Cold, calculating, and manipulative. She sees everyone as a potential tool or a potential opponent. If you're not playing against her, you are a tool... if you're someone else's tool, then she'll work to make you her tool.

 

History: Gera was brought into a spy network as Eyes and Ears in the Cairhien city when she was a girl, over the years, she rose through the ranks and became a trusted lieutenant in the system, then apprentice to the Spy Master. When he died, she took over the web, and became a Merchant of Secrets in the capitol. In her early years as the Mistress of the network, she bore a son to an unnamed lover. She raised the boy herself, teaching him everything she knew. Over the years, she took other lovers, until one was used against her. Luc was kidnapped and murdered by a rival, trying to force her out of the business.

 

After more time had passed, she solidified her hold on her business. In time, she stopped having violent rivals, and instead moved to a more subtle game where she played for and against the Houses. In the end, she was getting old and tired, and her son was quietly working against her... trying to take the web from her because he thought he was ready. She had been tested years before, and knew she could learn, so she decided to make a clean break, give the web to her son, and go to the Tower, which had recently begun accepting women of any age to prepare the Tower for the Last Battle.

 

While in the Tower, Gera was caught spying by a Blue Sitter, and learned how deadly serious the Aes Sedai could be. After she became an Accepted, she received a letter that was ostensibly from the City Guard of Cairhien saying that her son and his family had been murdered, but there was a mark on the letter letting her know it was really from an old rival who resurfaced after she left. Her son had been killed to send her a message. She used her freedom as an Accepted to go into the city and hire a man to kill the old rival. When it was done, Gera's last link to the old life was severed.

 

From that point on, she decided to use her skills and abilities to prepare the Tower and the World for the last battle. She views everyone and everything with that goal in mind.

Gera sounds like a great asset to the Blues *waggles eyebrows*. What an interesting back story!

Hee... When I first thought her up, I wasn't sure how committed to the Tower she would be. She only came because it was a new opportunity that would allow her to cheat death for a century or two. Then the bit about the son/family came up... and now Gera's a bit fanatical about supporting the Tower, and likely the Blue as well... obviously it's the best tool to support the Tower.

 

Now... I think she'll be going to Murandy soon.
