Physical Description

 

Estean is tall, lean and wiry. She did not stop growing at 15, but at 20, and thus she towers over most people, even her countrymen, who are mostly tall themselves. She is a rarity for height, but she is shorter than majority of the Aielmen of the Waste (she met some during the Aiel War)

 

Her hair is the wavy black of the night that frames a pale oval face that shines in the moonlight at nighttime. Her eyes are liquid brown and thus gives her a look of pure innocence, and her face has the distinctive Saldaean nose, and has slightly tilted eyes.

 

She only looks as though she was 25 years old. Nobody would be able to tell that she was any older than that, save for the fact that she seems to carry an aura of age, wisdom, and occasionally, when she feels the need arises, authority, that belies her look, and supports the fact that she is over 150 years of age.

 

Character History

 

In 850 NE, a daughter of a minor noble in Saldaea, Estean Aravell, whom had great potential for channeling was accepted into the Tower to become Aes Sedai.  However, she broke down during her testing to become Aes Sedai, and was thus put out of the Tower with enough silver to last her for 2 years.  She then settled down in a tiny village in Kandor.

 

50 years later, the village was attacked by Trollocs in the remainder of a large borderland raid that somehow managed to get past the border defenses.  One of the few survivors, she fled again, southwards this time into Andor, where channelers were honoured.

 

Strange though it was, Estean fell in love with Namell Yoshan in the city of Caemlyn.  They married, and bought a cosy house near the capital of Andor, where they lived happily for a long time, and had many children.

 

However, she was sometimes curious as to where her husband went when he disappeared.  She once followed him out of sight, and discovered him having a secret meeting.  She continued to listen in, and to her horror, she discovered that her husband was a darkfriend, and a dreadlord to boot.  She hurried away, but later made the decision to confront him

 

He wasn't happy that she had found out that he was a dreadlord, and attempted to kill the whole family when she revealed the secret.  She managed to escape with her grandchildren Wilemi, Nenen, and Seyneru.  They were the only people to survive the chaos.  They managed to make their way to the Palace, and get the help of the Aes Sedai advisor there, and killed him.  Nesyer joined them later, as she had been out during that period

 

Later, her grandaughters were tested, and all, surprisingly, had the ability to channel to some degree or the other.  She and her granddaughters and grandson all journeyed to the Tower of the Light, and to ensure that they managed to reach the Tower safely.

 

After they were accepted into the Tower, Estean lived with Seyneru in Tar Valon until the amnesty was announced.  They left secretly, telling no one of their intentions, and journeyed to the Black Tower at Haddon Mirk.
