Praise for this book
“The author...infuses a realistic mystery with subtle elements of fantasy and myth in his latest contemporary novel. Recommended.” —Library Journal
“A great read! As far as I'm concerned, Holly Hollander can write all of Gene Wolfe's books from now on.” —Robert Bloch
“A sparkling romp through the mind of a teenage girl trying to make sense of unsensible situations. The shrewd eye for upper-middle-class tribal rituals, the tantalizingly convoluted mystery, the quirky secondary characters, and--above all--the voice of Holly herself, knowingknowing but seldom cool, make this book a delight to read.” —Nancy Kress
“Quite intricate and more mystifying than most mystery novels. Excellent.” —R. A. Lafferty
“Slightly and deliciously askew...a delight to read.” —Charles de Lint
“A wink, a sly smile...a bright bauble that might lure new readers to Wolfe.” —The New York Review of Science Fiction
