People of the Masks : A Novel of North America's Forgotten Past by Kathleen O'Neal Gear, W. Michael Gear

(0 reviews)
11.99 USD
A riveting tale of ancient spirits, mysterious powers, and a desperate journey through the winter wilderness of New York and Ontario.

As prophesied, a child of great power has been born to the Turtle People of the Iroquois Nation. The Elders call him False Face Child, the son of a powerful spirit. With his inhuman eyes - black mirrors, ageless and deep - he strikes fear into the hearts of all, except Jumping Badger, the mighty war leader of the Bear People. Seeking to wield the boy's power as a spiritual weapon, Jumping Badger destroys an entire village to claim him.

But his triumph is fleeting as the Bear People are plagued by terrifying visions, ghostly voices, strange ailments, and mysterious deaths. The boy, known as Rumbler, is both a seer and a lonely child. Befriended by twelve-year-old Wren, together they flee across the harsh winter landscape with the vengeful Jumping Badger in close pursuit, determined to kill the boy and end his power.

Their only hope lies in finding Rumbler's legendary father, known only as The Disowned. An epic journey unfolds in People of the Masks, another riveting volume in New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O'Neal Gear's North America's Forgotten Past series.
