  1. OOC:  GAH! Sorry, thought I had posted to this! I'll let you decide who wins...really makes no matter to me  :)

IC: Bril found herself having to redouble her efforts as the other woman pushed the offensive. Bril's jaw set in determination to win, though she was beginning to doubt the reality of that. Do no be thinking that way! she chastized herself as she pushed forward ever so slightly, katana's moving as quickly as she could make them, one meeting the other woman's ashandarei while the other tried to find a hole in which to attack.

She had no idea how long they had been sparring, time seemed to float as if suspended when she fought. But judging from the bead of sweat she could feel on her brow it had been long enough that one or the other would likely fall...or perhaps not, this would not be the first spar in which both Bril and her opponent worked until they both nearly fell over from exhaustion.

A small smile broke out on Bril's face as she pressed in on Melenis yet a little more, "I do be thinking you be slightly more fun to spar than that tree." Always with the barbs, Bril was, sometimes they worked enough to shake her opponents confidence, sometimes they worked just the opposite. Bril was curious to see how Melenis would take them as she continued them....

  2. The White Ajah would like to invite any and all Novice's and Accepted's to a philosophy disscusion. I haven't quite decided which topic we will be discussing yet (either the seven Ajah's or the ying and yang of Saidin/Saidar)...but promise I will before we begin ;)

Elgee will be along as soon as I nudge her to tell you all what req's this would fill...because I have no bloody idea! :D

This will be a free form disscusion, there are no right or no wrong answers, simply a way to voice our opinions and perhaps get a different perspective on our commrads in the Tower.  :)

So let me know if you are interested in participating.

  3. Unless anyone has any objections, I'm going to post on Monday for N & A's who would be interested in joining this.

I'm probably going to flip a coin as to which topic will be discussed first.

Any of you Whites that would like to be involved, please let me know. I'm not sure if I will RP this as Tae or Thanelle...probably depends on which topic I decide on....or the mood I'm in come Monday  :D

  4. Bril gave a small smile as Melenis began her attack. She wasn't familiar with the other woman's style at all, having not seen her spar before, but that rarely slowed Bril. She moved into Lightning of Three Prongs, and then The Creeper Embraces the Oak. Bril was normally known for her headlong advances against an opponent, but today she felt like exercising a bit of caution. Likely it wouldn't last, but for the moment she was content to push Melenis only as hard as the other woman was pushing her.

It seemed that they circled each other for awhile, each striking out, but not commiting to much, yet. They were weighing each others forms, and style. Bril sometimes liked this part of a spar. Much could be told about your opponent if you could be patient enough to learn.

Bril's patience however, was not something she was known for holding long and soon she tired of the dance they were playing at. She knew the upsides and downsides of her style of fighting, almost as well as she knew her weapons. In a flash, Bril drove forward, thankful for her Ren'Shai training as the ability to take a beating made it handy for getting in close situations. Their blades met stroke for stroke, though Bril's tiredness was showing through as Melenis was able to get a nice nick on Bril's shoulder, only redoubling Bril's efforts...

  5. The weeks since returning to the Tower had been…difficult…to say the least. She had been called to question by her Ajah, and though she found it totally ridiculous, she had been handed down a penance. A penance! Not since trading in her Novice whites had Taeadra received penance, and to have it handed from her Sisters, well that had been nearly more than she could bear. Ah, part of her understood their reasoning, but as one of the eldest of her Ajah, not to mention the Tower itself, it had been a very long time since Taeadra felt she had to answer to anyone for her actions.

Then there was Mariasha. They’d spent weeks slipping back into their normal routine, but it was strained with unanswered questions and accusations. Tae knew all too well that Mari would demand answers from her, she just didn’t know when. The not knowing had left a ball of emotions within her that, though she had tried hard to conceal, she was sure Mari could sense.

It had been only recently that Taeadra had found some inner calm, and tried to pass that through their bond, to Mariasha. But it seemed as if the calmer Tae became, the more agitated Mari became which in turn had agitated her. Tae made note in her head that it had been fascinating how their emotions seemed to flow from one to another and gain in intensity as they did, at least that was how it felt for her.

When at last Mari’s questions came forth, Taeadra was almost too stunned to respond. They had been sharing a meal and discussing various items they both found of interest, when an innocent statement (at least she had thought it innocent…) made by Tae suddenly had her Warder firing the questions they had avoided for so long………

"Perhaps they thought you were dead, Tae. Perhaps they were worried, as I was, that something horrible had happened. Maybe some of them were drinking themselves to death from worry, trying to deny that anything could've happened.  After all, if someone cares, they'll let everyone know they're doing alright, wouldn't they?!"

“Perhaps, Taeadra, it's time to tell me what was so important that you had to leave me here thinking you were dead for so long.  I think it's time for you to tell all."

Taeadra schooled her face as quickly as she could, letting no further sign of shock show, though she was certain Mari could sense it through the bond, and settled her eyes on her Warder. Tae held her eyes there, not speaking a word until Mari lifted her head from the beating she was giving both her dagger and the whet stone.

The silence seemed to stretch on for an eternity as Tae digested everything Mari had said. Drinking herself to death? Light Tae...she did what she could to mask the guilt she felt, though she was uncertain at how successful she had been.

“Perhaps,” she spoke quietly, but firmly as she folded her napkin and set it on the table, “my reasons were just that; my reasons. And perhaps they should remain as such.” As soon as the words were out of her mouth, Tae regretted them, but she wouldn’t back down now. At least that was the stance she held for mere moments until the wave of pure anger hit her through the bond. So strong was it that it nearly staggered her. Tae’s head fell as Mari’s words echoed through her head again... drinking themselves to death from worry… thought you were dead.

“Or perhaps,” she spoke again, her voice nearly trembling, “you are owed an explanation.”

“Owed an explanation? Owed? Is that what our bond means to you Taeadra?” Tae didn’t need the bond to know the accusation Mari’s words held.

“After spending over two centuries unbonded, do you think I entered into this lightly Mariasha? Do you think I took this bond as a convenience?” Her voice had grown stronger, though she was still trying to reign in the guilt she felt pouring through her.

She embraced the source then, and for a blissful moment allowed herself to be enveloped by it. The sweet song it sang to her was as tempting now as it had been the first time she felt it. Tae gathered together the weave to set her room in silence from prying ears, though there was little to worry about here in the White quarters, Taeadra had always held her secrets carefully guarded and was not about to let them slip, especially not now with all she had discovered on her journey.

Taking a deep breath as she released Saidar, Taeadra began to tell Mari, everything, she left out not one nuance, knowing full well that when the last of the words left her mouth, Mari would be only more infuriated that Taeadra had left her behind...

  6. "No need to apologise, i was just watching your forms. Though your choice of opponent is a bit unusual, care to try your hand at a more mobile target? We should be around equal in terms of skill if i've read you correctly."

Bril took in as much as she could of the woman across from her.  So, she do be wanting to spar... she thought to herself. Bril couldn't recall having seen the other woman in the yards before, not that that meant much. Many times when Bril was there, she was so intently focused on her training that she doubted she could recognize a mere portion of the company.

She'd been pushing herself hard all morning and while others may have declined a spar just then, she was known for taking chances to push herself even harder.  That didn't mean she didn't have limits, oh she did, and Bril knew them better than most knew theirs, it just never stopped her.

"A friendly spar do be sounding good this morning," Bril spoke as she placed her practice lathe back in the rack and gathered her Katanas and faced the other woman.

Holding both Katana's in one hand, she held the other out to the woman, "I no be sparring with anyone I no know their name.  My name do be Brililin, but you be calling me Bril." she said.

Bril put much weight into anothers handshake and as the other woman introduced herself, Melenis she had said her name was, Bril nodded slightly to herself.  She knew this would be an interesting spar as she stepped back and readied herself.....

  7. OOC:  All corny-ness is to be blamed on my training and my former Mentor's unrealistic fear of squirrels and trees ;) And furthermore has no bearing on her mental balance.....and that's my story ;)

IC: Bril spun on her heel, working through her forms for the third time that morning. It was the same as every  morning since her decision to add another weapon to her training. Once with a practice lathe in both hands, once with the right hand only, and lastly, the left hand only. Outside the Void, she was dimly aware of sweat beading on her forehead, then dripping into her face, but she ignored it.

Boar Rushes Down the Mountain to Tower of the Morning and finally The Courtier Taps His Fan and Bril let her arm fall to her side. She leaned forward, resting her arms on her knees while she caught her breath. The distinctive click-clack of lathes striking one another did little to drown out the sound of her breath rushing in her ears and Bril couldn't help but smile at herself. There was nothing like a demanding workout to start the day.

She stood and began to walk to a rack to leave her lathe there before sitting to reflect on her training thus far.  As she neared the rack, her eyes caught sight of a tree, no, not just a tree, the tree.  In the blink of an eye she was a trainee again hearing Yuval in her ear, “It mocks you, that tree.  You must attack!!!” And so she did, grinning and laughing as her lathe slapped against the marks she had left there close to ten years ago.

So lost was she in her attack on the tree, it wasn’t until she heard someone clearing their throat (or maybe laughing hysterically :) ) behind her that she realized she was no longer alone in her little corner of the Yard.

“I do be sorry,” she said, still laughing to herself, “I did no realize I was no alone anymore....”
