  1. OOC: Sorry I haven't posted for a few months my new comp was supposed to arrive like two weeks ago and I've been looking for a job.

IC: Firion woke early. He praticed his flips and tumbles, warming up his muscles for the run. Firion has had a long dislike of running. The distances in his hearing became distorted. He didn't really know why it happened it just did.

Firion met Owen at the appointed time and place. "So Owen, How should I find my way? My hearing is almost useless for judging distances at speed. Smelling is difficult as well." Firion began to whistle as he often did when nervous. He was attemping to whistle like the birds, and coming very close in his opinion.

"So you said we are to run. We should get going then." Firion got up an began doing his tumbling stretches.

  2. Firion considered how to answer. He decided Owen was right. "If I can become a gleeman without sight I certainly can fight without sight.

Firion focused on hearing. He heard very soft russles of leaves as Owen moved to change the orientaion of the logs.

He eventually could sniff out Owen, and he focused his hearing on the logs. Firion got a few bloody knuckles and another bruise on the shoulder, but not much more.

    Firion turned to Owen, "Better?"

  3. Firion went to the inn after visiting the sages. He believed the day to be a complete failure. His head and body hurt like he had never felt before. He was asleep before his head hit the pillow. He then entered the wolfdream.

"Bloody ashes, now I have something else to get in ttrouble for." Firion attempted to wake up. He failed with flying colors. "What have you gotten youself into this time, Firion?" he asked himself. Knowing he would get no answer, he envisioned the training ground. Good no one's here.

Cloud Hunter appeared, Except for me, cub.

Firion looked at the logs, he now saw how the logs could swing from various angles and how his anticipations had been thrown off. An idea hit Firion so hard he did wake up.

He got dressed and headed out in the grey before dawn. He went to the training area and began the blocking exercise, and only blocking. He did this for about an hour before Owen showed up.

Firion stopped the logs then spoke, "I know there are a lot of things I'm probably in trouble for, but I think I figured out a way to get around my blindness, at least for training." There was silence. Owen obviously expected him to continue. "You can train me in the Wolfdream. I'm not blind in there. You can show me what to do, what I'm doing wrong, everything." Firion had a big grin on his face, which melted when he smelled no happy emotion coming from Owen.

  4. Firion took a sip, "Let's get back to training." Firion could hardly believe hard much harder getting bruises was then doing flips and handstands. Then, Firion got an idea, he didn't have to block all of them, he could dodge.

So Firion began ducking the high log and occassionally rolling umder the low one. He still had to block a good many of the hits, but it became more like a show or dance than a battle. As he came up after hed had rolled under the lower log he hit his head on the upper log and blacked out.

  5. Firion was to begin weapon training with Owen today. They had spoken briefly during the Wanderer party and Firion had liked him. He reminded Firion of Cloud Hunter seeing as they were both albinos.

As Owen showed, for lack of a better term, Firion the yard he asked Firion to select a staff. Firion already had one in mind, his walking stick, five and a half feet of black oak capped with six inches of steel at both ends.

Owen explained how the training was to proceed. "Owen, may please use my own staff for this exercise?" Owen agreed to let him do so. The logs began swinging and Firion attempted to block the sounds, but nevertheless got hit on the body. Then, Firion realized something, the seeds would pile up at the side opposite to the swing of the log.

Firion progressed and got a few bloody knuckles and his share of bruises. Eventually he could block most of them, that is until the higher one hit him in the back, after he had parried the waist high log. As he got up he said, "All I've use my staff for is doing tricks, before today. Can we take a break?"

  6. Firion headed back to the inn after his herbs training. He had acquired new knowledge and thought of the new day. As he entered the inn he smelled Kraken sitting at the bar. "Hey, Kraken, about you stabbing me during the party. I forgive you. At least as long as you don't do it again." Firion extended his hand toward Kraken. " oh, and congradulations on getting your wolfname."

  7. Firion decided to make one poultice for each of the conditions he had listed as well as make a healing salve. He separated the water into four pots and carefully smelled each ingredient before adding it to the proper pot.

About half an hour later, Firion had finished. "I hope these suit your standards Eyota." Firion began to whistle again.

  8. Firion began boiling water for the poultice and salve. "Eyota what kind of poultice am I to make? Open wound, broken bone, infected limb?" Firion had a great curiosity about everything, so as a result he knew a great deal and wished to know more. As firion waited for a reply he began to whistle like he had heard the rangers do when he first came to the stedding, like the birds.

  9. Firion thought to himself, So we have to get, Adilay root, Boneknit or Blue goatsflower, Healall, Greenswort, and Sleepwell Root. "Eyota, I'm going to borrow some samples so as to compare smells and texture."

Firion headed out to the forest within the stedding. he focused on his sense of smell so much he tripped a few times. He picked up a scent like that of one of the herbs. He felt out the source. He thought,That's strange the texture is wrong. Firion smelled it more closely it was a different plant. Firion found a patch of Greenswort under the fern. He then eliminated that smell from his search. He located some Healall shortly there after.

Firion now expanded his search outside the stedding. Cloud Hunter had starting pawing at the ground. Unfortunately, the Adilay root there had began to rot. Firion felt around and found a clump of what smelled like sleepwell but the texure was disputable. He put this in a separate pouch.

At last he found some true sleepwell, and Adilay root not far from that site. So I just need to find boneknit or blue goatsflower.

To Firion's dismay he search for over an hour. As he headed back to the stedding he tripped over a tree root, his face flying right into a goatsflower bush. He packed up the last herbs and got back to the stedding.

"I believe I got what you needed Eyota. oh, by the way, i found the plant that smelled similar to sleepwell but the texture was a little off could you tell me what it is." Firion laid the pouch on the table.

  10. Firion decided he would have to do this alphabetically, so as not to forget anything.

"Adilay Root: no necessary need of preparation, relieves fatigue and tired muscles. Blue Goatflowers: one tenth ratio poultice as hot as can be tolerated to be replaced when steaming subsides, knits and strengthens bones. Bluespine: Brew into tea, treats unfavorable attitudes, bitter and foul tasting. Bluewort: Boil into tea, settles one’s stomach. Boneknit: Poultice, knit bones and is less potent than Blue Goatflowers. Catfern: Also known as Mavinsleaf, make into tea, cures lies. Chainleaf: Brew into tea, settles stomach. Five Ginger: also known as Ground Ivy and Sunburst Root, boil into an ointment, treats bruises, feels both hot and cold in, for lack of a better word, flashes." Firion paused. "Let’s see that gets us through the Fs so next would be . . . Gheadin Blossom: powdered and taken orally, treats chest pains and prevents the heart from stopping. Greenswort: also known as Goatstongue, aids sleep and universally relieves stomach cramps. Grey Fennel: also known as powdered peach pit, a poison that discolors the eyes of the subject." Firion couldn’t help, but pause here his own eyes being discolored even to the wolfkin. "Healall: use as ointment, aids in healing of open wounds. Heartleaf: boil into tea, prevents pregnancy if taken before . . . you know, boy and girl and they do some things. Lionheart: numbs pain. Marisin: effects similar to foxtail. Marshwhite: boil into tea, settles stomach, gains potency with time, tastes bitter. Pokeleaf: wash in hair to remove dye. Rannel: also known as Sheepstongue Root, make into tea, cures contrariness, very foul taste. Red Fennel: Chew the leaves after they are dry, settles stomach. Sorfa: make into tincture, aids in healing of welts. Stinging Mardroot: oil or liniment, treats heavy bruises. White fennel: eases labor in severe situations."

Firion sat down and drank some water; his throat was now quite dry. "I believe that’s all of them Eyota. Unless I need to mention stuff like tabac and ice peppers. Now I need to learn how to read." Firion smiled. "So what's next, weapons or dreams?"

OOC: I hope this is good enough.

  11. As Eyota read the passages about the herbs to Firion, Firion gently ran his fingers over the text. "I have to learn some way to read on my own. I can spell orally, it's just written word I have trouble with." The ink inscribed on the parchment jumped out at him as he followed Eyota's lecture word for word. Firion smiled as the lecture came to a close. "I might as well learn as much as I can in the time I have to train." Firion bagan mentally preparing for the presentation. He could pick out smells easily enough.

Firion poured over the herbs smelling them cautiously. There were several poisons among them. Some were dried thus losing potency of smell.

Firion figured he was ready to give his presentation. "Many of the common herbs are slightly oily to the touch. To be used effectively Bluespine, Bluewort, Flatwort, and Heartleaf must be boiled or brewed into tea to be made effective. Adilay root however needs no preparation to be utilized properly." At this point Firion fumbled. he did not really know how to proceed from here.

Firion decided asking questions would be best. "Eyota how am I to descibe looks and do I have to specifically go herb by herb and describe them and their properties?"

OOC: I'm sorry if this is a bit short you can PM me if I need to adjust or add anything. I really hope I don't have to type up a report on herbs, because I'm working on three reports for school right now.

  12. Firion heard whispers, or very far away talking that a new wanderer had come in. He gathered up his flute and headed to the infirmary. Cloud Hunter decided to come along.

He approached and the new Wanderer, "Nice to hear you again, Janna. And who may I ask is our new Sister?" The smell of men and women being quite different to him. Firion then picked up another smell. "Eyota, I've been wondering where you went off to. Nice to smell you again, Mentor."

Firion pulled out his flute and began to play "A Tinker in the Kitchen." "Excuse my manners, I am Firion, my surname doesn't really matter anymore; formerly a Gleeman's apprentice. Travelled from the World's End to Mayene, and from Fal Dara to Windbiter's Finger. My pleasure to meet you." Firion began to play his favorite song, "Return From Tarwin's Gap."
