  1. Why shouldn't the wolfkin develop their own sword techs or something, like movements meant to slide together? And when not in attack mode why not operate like a pack anyway, or a military unit, some scouts, a commander and just brute force? By the way Owen, post is up, sorry about the wait. I got pretty distraugh after I reposted the entire thing along with my update and it couldn't hold all the text.

  2. Curiosity was one driving factor behind Anton’s request, it would seem, but Owen could also sense hesitation, almost bordering on flight? Owen was not sure that that was what Anton was planning to do, but the sense of hesitation was very strong in Owen’s nostrils. It should not have surprised him, most people who met him, at first, were very wary in his presence, it was not just his yellow eyes that made them so, the total lack of skin pigmentation was another draw back.

Owen signalled to the Mat and Anton to sit on the ground, and then joined them. “It is not so much that I am reluctant to allow you into the Stedding Anton, we have ways of knowing a persons intentions and the simply fact that you have come this far with Mat, and that your arrival here has not drawn any untoward response from our friendsâ€. Owen saw a quizzical look appear on Anton’s face at his mention of friends, but decided that he did not need to elaborate any more than that. “But I would be remiss in my position here if I did not question your intentions. You say you are curious about us, and that I can understand, but you must also realise that there are many people in the Stedding who have had a very difficult time at the hands of two-legs. I have to put my concerns for them before your curiosity, as unfriendly as that may sound from your perspective, unfortunately it is something we have to take into account. Please excuse me a moment I need to talk to Matronis, we will not be long.†With that Owen rose and asked Matronis to follow him and the two men walked a short distance away from Anton.

“I know you well enough to know that your judgement is usually good Mat, but do you really think that we should allow a two-leg into the Stedding?â€

Owen listened to Mat’s answer, a short retelling of the time he had spent with Anton and an appraisal of Mat’s feelings and intuition about him. When he had finished Owen asked him a couple of questions, to help clarify matters, then he and Mat walked back to where Anton was waiting, occasionally they saw him glance towards Ice, who was sat opposite him, totally ignoring him, yet at the same time, making him feel like she was scrutinising him. “Anton, I will agree with Mat’s request to allow you into the Stedding, but there are a couple of conditions you will need to agree to before we can proceed. You will be staying in the Inn we have built, and will not leave there unescorted. While you are staying with us, you will not approach any one in the Stedding on your own, you must wait for one of us to introduce you. As I said before, there are many here who have been badly mistreated before they came home, and I do not want them troubled by your presence in the Stedding. If you agree to these conditions then we can set out now and we will take you to the Inn. You are free to leave at any time, are should not consider yourself a prisoner, or anything of that nature, these conditions are for your safety as much as ours.â€

OOC: Mat, take the three of us to the inn, do not go through the Stedding, but approach the Inn from the lake, once we are at the Inn, do, as you like.

The wolf that accompanied Mat’s fellow Wolfkin was playing with him, of that Anton was certain. Time with Bekkar had given him some understanding of wolves, and one thing he had learnt was that they were in many ways just as quick as humans. This particular game was to see if she could make him uncomfortable. Despite knowing what she was doing, he still couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy. There was always the chance that it wasn’t a game at all.

When Mat and his companion returned, the terms were given and all in all they were quite fair. Interesting that there was no requirement made about him being silent about what he saw when he left, either that was to wait until he was to leave, or it was a sign of trust. Either way he didn’t think that it was the time to be bringing up such questions. “Those terms are fair, thank you for your hospitality. I’m sorry, but I don’t think I caught your name before. Owen is it? Well Owen, perhaps we could proceed onward? Its been sometime since I’ve seen a bed and after so long a drink wouldn’t go astray either at this inn.â€

Grinning easily enough, Anton fell into step with the two as they made their way towards the stedding. Asking only a few questions, he mainly let Mat and Owen speak as they caught up with one another on the finer details of their journeys. Where asked to he filled in holes, and his misadventure with Jenny whilst in Shienar brought a laugh out of Owen, but tales could always be more easily told over a mug, or so Anton was a firm believer of.

OOC: Okay fellas, really sorry about this, I want this done as much as you guys do.

As the trio began moving towards The Stedding Mat could sense Bekkar going off to greet the other wolves in the area, it had been a long time since he had seen any of them and Matronas could tell by the feelings coming from them that they were shocked at how big he had gotten. "Bekkar is glad to be home," Matronas muttered to noone in particular, "and so am I." Smiling to himself Mat led the three of them around the lake and towards the main community of the wolfkin. "We will go by the inn in just a few minutes Anton, but first I need to find something out."

Stopping some of the Kin that he remembered Mat introduced them to Anton and told them to come by the inn later to hear all about their tale. Mat also asked every person that he stopped where he could find Aleeza. He had been telling Anton all about the pretty young Wolfkin who had caught his eye and his heart before had left for his journey home. Time after time Mat stopped someone and repeated the same things over and over again, always asking where he could find Aleeza.

His search came to a screeching halt when one of the older wolfkin, a man who Mat had drank with many times in the inn me but whose name he could not recall admitted something with a pained grimace that stopped Mat's joyous search. "She's been dead nigh on a month now lad, killed herself in her room. I'm sorry you had to come back to find everything this way, I know you had feelings for her." Mat couldn't summon up any words, his heart seemed to have stopped and he was having trouble breathing. It seemed like hours had past when Anton's hand rested on his shoulder and his voice began to say something. Mat couldn't hear him, he was a thousand miles away in his own world of hurt and grief. "I'm sorry Anton but I need to think on some things," turning around Mat saw Owen standing behind Anton, his face as unemotional as ever. "You could have told me Owen. I will meet you two at the inn at nightfall." Walking slowly away from the two men Matronas stalked off towards the woods, seeking to be alone.

After roaming the woods for nearly three hours Matronas found himself in a sizeably clearing. Drawing his tulwar he began to run through the exercises Owen had taught him before he left on his journey. Searching deep down inside of himself Mat began to search for his Wal, it was something that he had not done in awhile and something he knew that he needed direly. It took only a matter of moments until Mat could feel the peace and calm streaming through his body, it was a welcome feeling after the onslaught of anguish that he had just experienced. Rising from his sitting position Mat unsheathed his tulwar and assumed The Spring, it was easier without his Wal but Mat didn't want to lose the sense of peace that he had found. Stripping off his shirt and letting his long diagonal scar breathe in the air Matronas began doing the basic sword exercises that he knew, slowing becoming more and more advanced in his movements until he began to feel a little exhausted. He then sheathed his tulwar and drew the axe that he had brought with him from his fight with the bandits. Wielding the axe Mat began to do some similar exercises that he had learned back at home before his howling to be used with an axe. After working himself to exhaustion Mat placed his axe back in the leather loop he had sewn onto his belt and started back for The Stedding, still encased in his Wal and The Spring.

When he arrived at The Hole in The Wall he was glad to see Anton sitting at a table nursing a mug. Approaching the man Mat dropped next to him in a chair and called for a tankard of ale. "So Anton, how do you like The Stedding?"

  3. We are the Dark side? Eh, oh well, I can live with that. As to your questions the only thing I can really say when it comes to hints or tips about joining the Band is, prepare to have fun, and be prepared for alot of infighting, especially if you join the infantry. But it is all in good humor. There really is no best group in the Band, your char's division should be based on his preference, like my char, Daruun Daedron, Infantry Sergeant and physical trainer of the Band, dislikes riding horses, and likes to workout. So he is an obvious choice for infantry. Your char should also be able to grow and change, for example, Daruun started out wielding a tulwar, now he wields a tulwar in one hand a long knife in his other and has duel scimitars as backup weapons, also he has beaten the crap out of countless people. There is a band offsite board, the address is www.band.aliciawilkerson.com feel free to go and register.

  4. As Daruun walked through the Citadel after the fighting he began to have the eerie feeling that life was going to be slightly different for everyone after having to kill their own squadmates. Light, but this whole thing was just one big bloody mess. Daruun thought, fingering a large gash that ran from under his left eye down to the base of his jaw. He had not even noticed it until it was brought to his attention by a medic when he was roaming through the dead checking for his men. The medic said that it had needed stitching and that had it been pure luck that Daruun had not lost his eye. As was his practice he immediately went to the nearest unoccupied medic, which was hard to come by, and had the young woman stitch him up. Hearing some shouting coming from the unfinished Citadel within the Citadel Daruun took off running. Maybe we somehow missed someone, or perhaps they had trolloc reinforcements. Preparing himself for the worst sight possible, Trollocs in the Citadel, he was relieved to see that it was Carnhain standing atop the unfinished building seemingly about to jump. WAIT JUST A BLOODY MINUTE!! Carnhain about to jump!? Why in the bloody flaming light would he do that!? Standing at the base of the building Daruun could tell that Carnhain was turned around talking to someone, possibly more than one person. If they are just going to bloody talk to him and not do something then I guess it is just up to the bloody flaming infantry to act.

Grabbing ahold of the scaffolding Daruun began to haul himself up towards the distraught cavalryman. If I fall trying to keep you from killing yourself Carnhain I swear by the light I will beat you until you can't walk.

  5. As Daruun listened to Amon's plan he nodded in agreement. Sounds alot bloody better than my idea. The infantry Sergeant thought to himself. When Mehrin agreed and called for the assembly of the troops Daruun bolted back to his infantry platoon. "Alright men, we're about to go head to head with what looks to be mirror images of ourselves. That means that they will have all of our strengths and weaknesses, so if you can, try and team up on the people who you think you can beat, and try and not get killed, and try not to kill any of us. Heh, well try to kill those versions of us. Now, let's go kill some friends!"

With that last statement the charge began. Running behind the cavalry at the head of his platoon Daruun whipped out his tulwar and long knife. "DIE YOU LIGHT FORSAKEN SONS OF GOAT HERDING MILKMAIDS!!!" Daruun screamed as he dove into the fray against so many all too familiar faces. The Bear platoon drove in right behind him, hacking their way into the archers that had been at the rear of the mirror band. Daruun was catching fleeting glimpses of faces of archers that he had known and trained personally.

The true Band carved swiftly through the mirror archers and was pushing its way into the infantry. Daruun caught a glimpse of what appeared to be himself attempting to take Carnhain off of his mount. "I FOUND YOU!!" The true Daruun yelled as he charged the imposter attempting to dismount his friend with a pike. Swinging his sword at his mirror image Daruun wasn't suprised when the large man blocked him with his tulwar. Wow, I'm better than I thought thought the infantry Sergeant. Seeing the grim smile appear on his opposite's face the true Daruun grimaced. "I'm afraid you won't win this one my friend." Stabbing with his long knife Daruun was shocked when his thrust was blocked. Light! It's time to try something new. Daruun thought as he was put on the defensive. Kicking his mirror image in the chest and knocking him back several feet Daruun raised his tulwar over his head and with all his might threw it as though it were a throwing knife. It was the one thing he had sworn to himself that he would never do in battle . . . and it worked. The tulwar buried itself halfway up the blade into the chest of his mirror image. But Daruun didn't have enough time to recover it. A small infantryman whom he didn't recognize charged him silently. Silence seemed to be a growing trend amongst the imposters Daruun had noticed, at least among the ones he had been killing. Blocking the incoming blow with his long knife Daruun unsheathed the scimitar on his back and began fighting with that while he sheathed his long knife and drew his second scimitar. I haven't gotten to try this out in battle yet, let's see how it is going to work.

Daruun didn't know how many people he had killed wielding the dual scimitars but he had realized why Amon liked them so much, when you had those smooth, flowing blades in your hands, you became a whirlwind of death to anyone not fast enough to keep up with you. I'll be using those a little more often now Daruun thought ruefully. Looking around at the scene layed out before him he couldn't believe that they had won. It had taken longer than most of their battles and had been quite a bit messier but they had won.

  6. As the three runaways entered the Cairhien Daris gripped one of his bell-tipped braids and checked the serpentine dagger strapped to his right thigh. The money that Satine had taken from Simon was keeping them well taken care of but Deora's pregnancy was making it hard to travel swiftly. Satine was not helping in that area either, she was the one insisting that they slow down for Deora's sake and Deora was agreeing. It's not that I'm not happy about being a father, but we need to get further away from anyone fleeing the chaos that the show caused. Now they were in Cairhien, and Daris was planning on them resting in a nice inn for a couple of days and both women seemed to be in full agreement.

When Daris turned to the two women to suggest finding an inn a man bumped up against Daris roughly mumbling an apology and disappeared into the crowd. Staring after him Daris smiled to himself. Foolish child, doesn't even know that I picked his pockets. Before he could even inspect what he had grabbed another young man glided past him and whispered in his ear ,"Check your pocket." Frowning at the person sliding into the crowd Daris reached inside of his pocket and found a note. Meet me at The Merry Widow and we will talk about your debt to the organization, bring your friend. There was no signature. "Well ladies lets find an inn."

When they found an inn, one that went by the name of The Resting Wheel the three purchased two rooms and after they had placed all of their belongings in their rooms the trio went down into the common room. Once they were all seated Daris showed them the note and told Deora to stay at the inn and keep their belongings safe. For once his wife, the former noblewoman, decided not to argue. After asking the innkeeper for directions to The Merry Widow Daris and Satine made their way towards the inn.

  7. Sitting in the office that was given to him when he was appointed the head of the Red Arms Daruun was going over the arrests made over the past couple of days when a corporal burst into his office. "Sir," immediately Daruun knew he wasn't one of his infantrymen, "a fight has broken out at one of the taverns and some Red Arms got pulled into it." Looking at the man with a grimace on his face Daruun stood. "Go to the three nearest Red Arms' posts to the north and tell the five men at each to meet me at the tavern, I will get the ones from the south, and alert Storm Leader Dashiva to send in some Blackarms. Tell them to go ahead of the main group." Stopping his speach and drawing a crude map of the Citadel Daruun circled roughly where the tavern should be. "Give this to him. NOW RUN!! AND DON'T CALL ME SIR AGAIN!"

Striding to the rack set against the wall in his office Daruun grabbed the cudgel that was on it. The cudgel, a gift from the bears, his platoon. It was heavy enough to slow most men down if they tried to wield it, but Daruun wasn't most men. The striking end of the cudgel ended with an ornate carving of a bear's head. Daruun used it with the ferocious might that would make any bear proud against anyone who stood against him while on duty, as often as not he used it on one of the men who had given it to him. His platoon was one of the rougher groups and he was planning on cracking a few of their skulls at the tavern.

When he had the cudgel tight in hand he took off towards the three nearest southern posts. After gathering all fifteen men they took off towards the tavern. They managed the timing just right, as they approached the tavern the other fifteen Red Arms arrived from the north. Peering at the tavern from under the red bandana that marked him as the leader Daruun studied the tavern. Through the windows he could see people brawling like the last battle was going on. "Hold here men, I am going to go on in and assess the situation. Come in if you hear me yell and be free with your cudgels."

Bursting in through the door Daruun was immediately swept into the crowd. The group was so crowded he didn't have enough room to draw his cudgel so he started laying about him with his fists. Yelling for his men he swiftly realized that they probably couldn't hear him. Seeing an island of safety among the brawl Daruun began beating his way towards it. Hurling men out of his way he came upon some Black Arms fighting ferociously. "BLACK ARMS!! FOLLOW ME TOWARDS THE DOOR!! THERE ARE MEN WAITING OUT THERE!!!"

  8. As Daris walked around the wagons that were parked behind the tent he nodded smiling at some of the other performers, none of which returned the nod. Looking up at the midafternoon sun Daris sighed loudly. They still don't know what to think of what I did at the show for the queen. They didn't accept my excuse of a bad feeling and pure luck, but that's up to them. The only person who seems to believe it is Satine, and that doesn't mean much in my opinion. As if merely thinking of the woman summoned her the acrobat walked swayingly from between some wagons. Nodding to her and hurrying away Daris made his way toward his wagon, and his wife.

Closing the door behind him the former assassin hugged his wife and looked askance at her odd look. "I'm not feeling well," she said uneasily. "Don't worry, my beauty, I will retrieve a local herbmaster once the show is over and we will find out what is wrong with you, but for now I must make my way to the tent."

OOC: Alrighty, Satine, Simon, lets get cracking. And Simon, cheat'em good, Satine, steal plenty, I want to be able to eat well on the road to Cairhien.

  9. As Daruun walked slowly away from the clearing he used for his physical training area he breathed in deeply of the day. Light, but it's a beautiful day, I wonder what's for dinner? Strolling through the woods he heard someone calling his name. "OVER HERE!" He shouted to the unknown person. Seconds later an infantry private burst through some bushes and let loose a torrent of words. Barely able to catch what he was saying Daruun got the rough idea that the Band was about to march somewhere. "I don't know what you just told me but I suspect it's urgent. . .well boy don't just stand there, let's run!" This last statement was made as he took off through the woods at his fastest pace.

Moments later he was in the barracks getting a report from Arinth on what was going on. Grabbing his tulwar, long knife, and scimitars he strapped them on over some thick leather armor overlaid with mail. "Well, lets get a move on it, we don't want them to leave without us now do we?" When his squad merged with the army there was already a palpable excitement in the air. "I don't know who doesn't like Emond's Field, but that little town is sure getting the brunt of someone's anger," Daruun said with a laugh.

When the march finally came to a halt word reached back to the infantry of Kedyn's report. "Shadows of us eh? Well, it sounds like a fun fight to me!" Walking up to the front of the lines and arriving just in time to hear Mehrin's request. "If you don't mind me saying sir, why don't we send a portion of our infantry around the town in the woods along with some archers, then once the townsfolk reach them they protect them. Meanwhile the remainder of our forces smashes into those others from behind."

  10. He could be the one to call on our all-friendly thief catcher, then we have two groups headed south. They could catch up to us in Cairhien and we could . . . I dunno, save your lives maybe. Or we could confront you, fight, and run to Caemlyn where you catch us again then we could maybe save your lives, or just work everything out.

  11. Alrighty James, me and Kristen have talked a little bit about how we are going to do this and I think we agreed that Simon would do something stupid, either cheat a lord or lady or just insult them or something. Then they would send their armsmen to basically attack the show and everyone would have to scatter. By the way Kristen, at this point I think Satine should use her light fingers on Simon and get us a little extra spending cash. :D Satine will for some reason or another decide to go with Daris and his family. -By the way Daris's wife will find out she is pregnant while we are on the road.- We will travel down to Cairhien which is where you come in to play James. Now what would we have to do to meet with the guildmaster?
