I apologize for letting that get derailed so badly.
Since the topic was originally about costumes, and I thought had some good content, could you just remove the derailed posts and reopen it? I'd like to be able to post the answer to what was actually asked, If I ever find it out.
Who knows? It might even be interesting to have a separate thread just about funerary practices and their real-world parallels.
