I think Adrian Bower who played Leofric on The Last Kingdom would be a good pick for Lan.

Hello!
I'm laktoes intolerant :(
I'm sorry to hear that. It's a wordplay name for my Tauren Druid...because he has hooves..not toes...and, you know, the whole Tauren-Cow stereotype :/

Greetings!
I am new, both to the series and this community. I think I ripped a hole in the space time continuum while reading EOTW. I just began book 2, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I was glad to find Ba'alzamon was still rocking a severely burned appearance under his robes in the prologue :). I'm looking forward to what lies ahead in the series, as well as enjoying interacting with all of you along the way. I also would like to keep up with any further discussions into Sony's plans for a new TV series, so if anyone has any news on the NEW attempt...I would appreciate it. No need to re-hash the REE attempt, I think that has been discussed at plenty enough length.

Jim C is an interesting pic for Lan, as is Hugh Jackman. I'm sorry but I think Joe Manganiello simply wouldn't be taken seriously as Lan. My personal pick, and I think may be more realistic due to relatively low exposure(AKA, budget friendly) is Adrian Bower. He played Leofric on The Last Kingdom. I see Lan as a rougher type of man, the type who dwells in the grittier reality of walking in the Light. The type of guy capable of molding the Dragon Reborn early.
