  1. You should all feel ashamed!  Nobody listed one of the most important fantasy writers of the 20th century?

    Name: Robert E. Howard

    Series: Oh, I don't know...something like...CONAN?

    Target Audience: Adult

New book release: Well, Mr. Howard probably won't be writing anything new.

Conan stories published in Weird Tales[edit]

Conan stories published in Fantasy Fan magazine[edit]

    • "Gods of the North" (March 1934) - renamed as The Frost Giant's Daughter and published in The Coming of Conan, 1953.[9]

Conan stories not published in his lifetime[edit]

    Unfinished Conan stories by Howard[edit]

A number of untitled synopses for Conan stories also exist.

    Other Conan-related material by Howard[edit]

    • "Wolves Beyond the Border" — A non-Conan story set in Conan's world. Fragment. Published in 1967 in Conan the Usurper
    • "The Hyborian Age" — An essay written in 1932. Published in 1938 in The Hyborian Age.
    • "Cimmeria" — A poem written in 1932. Published in 1965 in The Howard Collector.

Most importantly, these are almost all available for free from Project Guttenberg.  After reading these, go check out Robert Jordan's Conan stories, which are also incredible (and less racist.  By a lot.  As in, not racist).

  2. Reading "The Heroes" by Joe Abercrombie, since everyone says he's amazing.  It's pretty good so far, mostly for the humor and the names.  LOVE his naming conventions for the North.  I'm simultaneously working on tFoH for my ten-billionth re-read of WoT.  After that, it's Unfinished Tales by Tolkien.
