Hey guys, I spoke to Orbit earlier today about the possibility of UK and Australia based Prologue sale and they appeared open to the possibility. They're gonna get back to me sometime early next week (apparently their offices were being evacuated at the time, lol).
-
Wait... Verb, are you saying Barm's NOT a hopeless incompetant? That all along it was you?
Well, I for one am shocked. Shocked I tell you. This shall not go unpun--oooh! Something shiny!!!! *wanders off*

Haha, thanks Mashiara!

I've been pretty open with my problems with tGS and TofM, if you want to look around the boards. Mostly its the timeline and continuity issues, the compromising of secondary characters in favour of primrary characters (or primrary characters in favour of better liked primrary characters), the at times clunky prose and dialogue, and the tendency to tell instead of showing.
*shrug*

I love it also. Brandon described it to me as Sweet's best since Eye of the World, and seeing it, I agree completely.

Awesome interview Dwyn. :-)
-
You misunderstand what Brandon was saying. He didn't say 20% was going to get cut, he said that there was 20% extra which requires more effort.
Even wen your talking about editing cuts... Plot is not getting cut in the edits, it gets tightened. Things like 'he pulled out the chair, and sat down' become 'he sat down'. You'd be surprised by how many words are cut in this manner--the story is better for it.

I was not disapointed in this news until I read those thoughts.
-
Don't forget to actually vote on the polls guys! :-)

Coz I've recieved some questions about it--my comment about Verin being behind the attack on Caemlyn was a joke. There isn't enough evidence to begin making guesses about the attack on Caemlyn.

*sad face*

Ooops on the Consult. Though the Unholy Consort sounds awesome lol.
And really about the duology? (I don't doubt you, its just interesting news :) ).
-
I've been instructed that I did not give enough witness to Karsa Orlong. And I agree. If you did not understand this comment, you will when you read the books.
-
Wise Man's Fear cuts back on that a bit, Owner's inc. We get some insights that indicate that not everything is as it appears, and I think in full this idea will play into the major overall arc.
-
I agree on both counts--blog and childrens book. My mate won a signed copy of the childrens book at WorldCon at the Red Keep aSoIaF party--its brilliant.

Kivs, have you read the interview he did recently with Brandon Sanderson? He speaks about having the book "finished" in the 2000 draft, and the process of editing, and the resultant time he was intending to take--it sounded like he was intending much the same degree of editing for the next book as he did for this one.
Which, frankly, I'm fine with. Name of the Wind was very well written, and Wise Man's Fear was even better.
I'd love to see more stuff in this world. Especially the Adem. Profound understatement.

@Baily hehe. I was feeling a bit... quirky... when I wrote Elaida.
@Scoobin, yeah they might not work with Ipad. It's a google doc of a pdf.
@Cloglord, Yeah, Verin was just about to take him to Caemlyn, he wasn't actually there. Though Rand sees him in Ta'veren technicolour in Caemlyn, so I doubt she kidnapped him or anything. Still, your right, I may have made an assumption there.

@Iphis. The prophecy section has not been updated. I started it, then got sidetracked on some wild theories about Egwene.
This probably won't happen until after ToM.
-
Great questions! They were very different than the 20 same questions every other interviewer seems to ask.
Thanks. I actually read those interviews and used them as a basis of what not to ask. :D
-
Haha. I appreciate that perhaps more than I should. I wrote this out, lost it, and had to write it again. Ended up taking like seven hours.
-
I genuinely thought he wouldn't answer that. Cracked me up though.

Dallas was on the list twice coz I'm an idiot. It's all fixed now--and no one needs to worry, all dallas entries were recorded, no matter which you chose.

@Tedroni Peter Ahlstrom has said that this is the last of the pre-release material, and is quite firm on it, so unless something drastically changes, which I doubt, that's a no on chapter 3.
