"Fishwives know to distinguish between good and bad sword strikes? Since when?"

Why make such a silly comment? The point was clearly being made that the Green sister was simply encouraging her warders with basic comments like "good strike". Now I am no soldier but I am perfectly capable of acknowledging a good fighting technique, as is any average joe. This in no way means she has any specialist knowledge. If she had been demonstrating the fighting techniques then it would have proved otherwise.

And to say that skirts, divided or otherwise prove no encumbrance in comparison to trousers when moving on foot over battlefields that are wet with blood and littered with craters from big explosions is obviously not true. Common sense and a chat with any female soldier in Afghanistan would answer that one.

  2. Mitsobar I agree about the creation of Ajahs being a bad thing in the long run. In theory yes it is good to have Aes Sedai specialists in different areas, so that united they make the Tower a more powerful force. But they just became little cliques that constantly bitched about each other. Secret Ajah weaves? Secret head of Ajah? The White Tower degenerated into a cheesy public school with silly

    "traditions".

I meant prepared to fight channelers in battle not the ocassional man they need to gentle. If they do how did they show up to battle in skirts they can't move fast in?

Do they work out physically, do any of them know how to fight with their hands,do any of them know how to use any weapons other weilding the OP? How do they ride horses, sideways I assume wearing a skirt. How can you fight like that or even ride fast?

They show none of the characteristics of a organization tuned to fight battles on a mega scale.

So true XXX47 - you don't fight wars in ball gowns! I'm betting they were still wearing slippers too instead of " stout Two Rivers shoes"! Mind you never know, they could all have been wearing skirts"divided for riding"!
  3. Brilliant - got to love a bit of Perrin...

You Scored as Perrin t'Bashere Aybara

You are Perrin t'Bashere Aybara, husband to Faile Bashere, friend to the Dragon Reborn, would-be blacksmith and popular (if not by choice) "Lord" of the Two Rivers. You are hard-working, loyal, loving and careful. People are proud to have you by their side in battle, though you hate to kill.

  4. The point I would like to raise is about the Green Ajah - and how disappointing they were! All through the books they have bleated on about being "The Battle Ajah", talking with a glint in their eye how they will be the first in line to deal with the Dark One's forces at The Last Battle. They have a sea of warders between them, and their Ajah headquarters are decorated with weapons and scenes of battles. So yes, they have made their point. So for almost three thousand years they have prepared for this, and what exactly did they prepare? Pevara shows that the Red Ajah knows some pretty nifty fighting moves to handle men that can channel, multiple weaves cast at once to both incapacitate and silence a man. "What did you think the Red Ajah does with its time? Sit around and complain about men?" Brilliant quote and helped give respect to an Ajah that most people thought was full of bitchy women who loathed anything with a Y chromosome.

So here was me thinking the Greens would come into their own in the Last Battle. Now the thing is maybe they did? The air was said to be sizzling with the exchange of weaves during the battle. But never once were the Greens mentioned. All the sisters seemed to be warriors, regardless of Ajah (with the exception of the Yellows in Mayene). All seemed perfectly capable of "lobbing a fireball" or calling down a lightning bolt. If we take this as standard fighting fare - where were the Greens? Where were the nifty fighting weaves and tactics that they had presumably perfected over the millennia for just this occasion? Not a single mention was made and does beg the question - what on earth was the point of the Green Ajah? All mouth and no talk?

In my mind I had all sorts of attacks playing out - three Greens on horseback converging together at a gallop beside the front line, linking together instantly, and using the combined power to chuck out an awesome killer weave (not a fireball in sight thank you). Then dropping the link and straight away galloping away in different directions so that each could channel and defend from incoming weaves. This tactic could then be played over and over to create destruction in enemy troops over a large area. Or even better, a long line of Greens, some sending out killer weaves that no other Ajah has even thought of, whilst others defend against incoming weaves, with trained methods to disrupt the weaves.

I truly thought they would bring something jaw-dropping to the Last Battle, but was totally disappointed at the continuous lighting bolts and fireballs that were lobbed by each and every sister no matter what their Ajah.

Egwene kicked ass in the Last Battle - the Green Ajah? Not so much....

  6. You belong to the Brown Ajah!

The Brown Ajah is dedicated to the gathering of knowledge. Browns are often historians of some kind, but members of this Ajah can be interested in any field of knowledge. It is said that Browns have little or no idea of what is going on in the world, and they can at times be absent-minded and easily distracted. Browns are, however, excellent researchers and know the ins and outs of the White Tower Library very well.

This is your result in its entirety:

    Brown Ajah: 10

    White Ajah: 5

    Yellow Ajah: 4

    Green Ajah: 3

    Gray Ajah: 1

    Blue Ajah: 1

    Red Ajah: 1

Yay a Brown! But not happy about White being second.... :)

  7. Hello Randland! Been reading the books for 18 years and have just finished the final book. Considering I have been waiting for it for SO long I actually took my time reading it and savoured it for as long as possible. But then it just got so exciting at the end that I couldn't put it down, lol.

It's weird to think how long this has been a part of my life and I couldn't even begin to imagine how many times I have wondered what it would be like to channel over the years. I'm actually glad the series is finished and is something I can go back to and read again and again. It's not like there aren't umpteen twists and sub-plots that MIGHT make a bit more sense now!

My biggest thought at the moment is will the Black Tower have Ajahs, and if so I hope they have a brown one too

because that would be the one for me!
