  1. I just finished Prometheus and was confused about 85% of the time

I actually attempted to google "didn't understand prometheus" to see if there were any sites out there that could explain what the hell went on in that movie

As I was typing it in I got to "didn't u" and google autofilled the rest

I was highly amused by that and just thought I'd share

Horrible movie...... didnt get why so many people liked it....
  2. *smiles fondly* i remember my first read of WoT. its more than worth it to keep reading and i'm sure you'll be finished either a bit before MoL comes out or just as its being released. the middle books of this series can be hard to get through, but after Path of Daggers it picks back up  well worth it imo.

I am reading about 100 pages a day. It is my holiday and I read about half of the day. I enjoy the middle books even though they are slow. Glad to hear that it picks up after path of daggers.

Aww I remeber those 9 hour WOT days!!!! and then you think,... well ive alreay read this much whats one more chapter gonna hurt.....4 in tha morning bedtime...

Did you see that dudes eyeball just hanging there......"narly like narg"
  4. A few ToM ones:

"She could still be in danger," Mat said. almost to himself, still looking backward. "I shouldn't have let her out of my sight. Fool woman."

"Mat," Talmanes said, pointing at him with the pipe again. "I'm surprised at you. You're starting to act downright husbandly."

That gave Mat a start. He twisted around in Pips' saddle. "What was that? What does that mean?"

"Nothing, Mat," Talmanes said hurriedly. "Just that, the way you're mooning after her, I--"

"I'm not mooning, Mat snapped... "I'm just worried. That's all. She knows a lot about the Band, and she could give away our strengths."

Before long, they were making along the road. Thom stepped up beside Mat, watching the riders."Sweetbuns?"

"Tradition among us Two Rivers folk."

    "Never heard of that tradition"

    "It's very obscure."

"Ah, I see. And what did you do to those buns?"

"Sprinklewort," said Mat."It'll turn her mouth blue for a week, maybe two. And she won't share the sweetbuns with anyone, except maybe her Warders. Joline is addicted to these things. She must have eaten seven or eight bags' worth since we got to Caemlyn"

"Nice," Thom said, knuckling his mustache."Childish, though"

"I'm trying to get back to my basic roots," Mat said."You know, recapture some of my lost youth"

    "You're barely twenty winters old!"

"Sure, but I did a lot of living when I was younger..."

"You like my den?" Mat asked...

"Your den?" Setelle asked, sounding amused.

"Sure," Mat said... "You'll have to make an appointment with my steward if you want to come in."

    "Your steward?"

"The stump right over there," Mat said, nodding. "Not the little one, the big one with the moss growing on the top."

    She raised an eyebrow.

"He's quote good," Mat said. "Hardly ever lets anyone in that I don't want to see."

"You're an interesting creature, Matrim Cauthon," Setalle said seating herself on the larger stump....

"Did you want anything specific?" Mat asked. Or did you just drop by so that you could sit on my steward's head?"

A funny yet bittersweet moment that is very long and requires some back story:

A quick tug on Rand's sleeve and a voice pitched low, for his ear alone, distracted him form the older men's talk. "Come on, Rand, while they're arguing. Before they make you work.

Rand glanced down, and had to grin. Mat Cauthon crouched beside the cart so Tam and Bran and Cenn cold not see him, his wiry body contorted like a stork trying to bend himself double.

Mat's brown eyes twinkled with mischief, as usual. "Dav and I caught a big old badger, all grouchy at being pulled out of his den. We're going to let it loose on the Green and watch the girls run."

I didn't see any mention of it being told to Perrin in the book, but I possibly missed it. Most likely he was told anyways.

But anyway, two years, two marriages, and many battles and adventures later...

Perrin began walking to check on the supply carts, but something small struck him softly on the back of the head.

He froze, turning, scanning the forest behind him. To the right, it stood brown and dead; ho his left, the tree cover dwindled. He couldn't see anyone.

Have I been pushing myself too hard? he wondered, rubbing his head and he turned to contuse walking. Imagining things like that--

Another little strike on the back of his head. He spun and caught sight of something dropping to the grass. Frowning, he knelt down and picked it p. An acorn. Another one smacked him in the forehead. It had come from the forest. Perrin growled and strode into the trees. One of the camp's few children, perhaps? Ahead was a large oak tree; the tree trunk was thick enough to hide someone. Once he grew close, he hesitated. Was this some kind of trap? He laid his hand on his hammer and inched forward. The tree was downwind, and he couldn't catch the scent of--

A hand suddenly jutted out from behind the trunk; holding a brown sack. "I caught a badger," a familiar voice said. "Want to let it go on the village green?"

Perrin froze, then let out a bellowing laugh. He rounded the tree's trunk and found a figure in a high-collared red coat--trimmed with gold--and fine brown trousers sitting on the tree's exposed roots, the sack squirming near his ankles. Mat was chewing idly on a long length of jerky, and wore a broad-brimmed black hat...

"Mat? Perrin asked, nearly too stunned to speak. "What are you doing here?"

"Catching badgers. Mat said, shaking the sack. "Bloody hard to do, you know, particularly on short notice."

    ..."You actually caught one?"

    "Call me nostalgic."

I started crying bit when I read that part :P

They're just so... LITTLE in the first one and then they're all grown up and justjustjust I'm proud of my boys :P

Darn near made me tear up with a big grin on my face........I just cant put into words how much I love them all, as im sure you all do too.......kinda makes us family.....
  5. I enjoyed reading their reunion in Far Madding. It was one of the few scenes where I liked Alanna. "Light, man, Let us help you!" was just an awesome line.

I too, enjoyed that part, but we all know when an Aes Sedia says" let us help you", Its what she thinks He needs help in and that could go as far as shielding Rand, trying to control him and leash him for the Last Battle..cause only an Aes Sedia knows what to do and how to do it, right?

  6. So I know this is a topic that is quite old, but I am on my re-read of LoC and I just finished dreaded chapter ten when Alanna bonds Rand and I rememberd that this was the first time that I threw the book against the wall swearing not to read one more word of WoT and spewing hate against Aes Sedia. This scene deeply disturbed me with so many differant things [ some I cant even put into words and some will get me permanently banned from DM]. To start I felt that Rand could have at least asked, pleaded, or demanded that Alanna remove the bond at once, wich He didnt say a word. RJ spoke of bonding somone without there permission as an unspeakleable disgusting act alikened to you know what, but Rand acted nonchalant about the whole thing. He had this attitude like ' O well', Ya thats it, not even an internal sentence where he thinks to himself' try to get out of it'. At this point unwilling bonding plus trying to shield Him would count them as enemies, we have been there as He learned not to trust Ase Sedia, that by doing so leads to trouble and harm, and He vows not to let Aes Sedia put a leash on Him. We have been there as He becomes an unstable, partialy insane very powerful Dragon Reborn who demands that what is best for the world ie. his will.. be done, and if it isnt, its death. Why didnt Rand do more to Alanna and Verin, In my opinion He has killed for way less, the least He could have done was threaten some sort of physical harm or death[ I doubt He understood the warder rules at the time] All before RJ has been building Rand up to be getting touchier and more on edge and ready to explode but He handles this like they threw a snow ball at Him! So I found and do find his reaction totally out of character and very comprimising for my flegling love of RJ and WoT the first time I read the series. I was back reading in under two minutes after my tantrum and am very glad I finished [although no one will ever be truly finished] WoT and realize certain things had to be or remain for the story line but I had to vent to you all this time around and I do say sorry for my unprofessional compilation of this paragraph and horrible sentence structure.......but if you dont like it you can kiss a hairy goats flaming backside on a half-moon night = keep it safe.. keep it sexy..

  7. Arent we forgeting that Rand has acess to a differant kind of power.........Besides Egwene says and i quote

"I doubt we could have held him," Egwene said. "There's somthing about him. I ....I had the sense he could have broken that shield without a struggle.".........

So gals were is your argument coming from.....p.s. I HATE this thread ........Jan 8 will show us all....

  8.

For the people who continually argue against the rabid Egwene hate: who the hell do you think you are? How dare you tell me or anyone else that we are wrong to hate a character. Citing reasons or examples for or against a theory is great. Doing so to say they are wrong for disliking a character is just ridiculous. Yes I meant to use the word ridiculous, because this behavior is in fact worthy of ridicule.

Personally I loathe her character. In fact Egwene is the only character I actually hate. I have the right to this hate. It is my belief that characters who invoke such strong feelings of distaste, exhibit traits of people we dislike. Egwene reminds me of my sister in laws (enough said). Plenty of people have posted how they hate Faile and Tuon. I actually like these two, but I will not tell people that they are wrong for disliking a character I enjoy reading. Ok, climbing down from soap box...

Hmm you sound like a female character from a book series I read... oh whats Her name.........oh! ya.. Egwene

  9. On my first reread EoTW Chap 25 The Travling People When Aram is explaining to Perrin The way of the leaf and that when somone does violence to you, you run away. Perrin Replys

" Well, I dont look for violence, But if somebody hit me, Im hit him back. If I didnt, I would just be encouraging him to think that he could hit me whenever he wanted to. Some people think that they can take advantage of others, and if you dont let them know that they cant, They'll just go around bullying others that are weaker than they are." " Some people", Aram said with a heavy sadness," can never overcome their basic instincts." He said it with a look at Perrin that made it clear he was not speaking of the bullys Perrin spoke of. " I'll bet you get to run away a lot", Perrin said, and the young Tinker's face tightend in a way that had nothing to do with the Way of the Leaf...

  10. One that made me laugh so hard was this part in Winters Heart ....

"She feels him steel himself, and says again that he has to go; Elayne stops him and says there is one more thing. Min and Aviendha hastily clear out, eyeing each other doubtfully. Rand watches warily.

“There is something they have had from you that I haven’t,” Elayne began, and choked, a flush scalding her face. Blood and ashes! How did other women go about this?"..

Love that Girl...and Avi and Min
