  1. Yes, it seems that both Perrin and Faile will survive the Last Battle, although I fancy the version in which Perrin dies and reapears when Mat blows the Horn of Valere. I wonder if it would still be possible for him to get the Broken Crown, but it doesn't seem likely. Even if he would just die for good, I have to say it would be better than having a descendant who would marry Elayne's descendant. Too bad the stupid selfish bimbo got pregnant and therefore has to live.I have much more sympathy for some of the Forsaken. As old Chinese used to say, it's better to have a wise enemy than an idiot for a friend.

  2. While I am waiting for January 8, 2013, my wife is somewhere in book 9 or 10 and my14 years old younger son is reading the Eye of the World, which I see as a great parental achievement. In our time, fewer and fewer people believe in difference between good and evil as each day passes. I wonder if the actual goal of the Dark One is to erase this difference, so that anyone could have an excuse to hurt other people? The Wheel of Time brings some light back to us.

  3. Rand and Elayne? No, please give me a break. Rand and Lanfear were, are and will always be so much more! As Lews Therin, Rand dumped Lanfear because she was too ambitious. And Elayne is not (lol)? Despite being dumped, Lanfear kept loving him so passionately that she was willing to use sa'angreal to challenge the Dark One. After Rand got laid with Aviendha, Lanfear got so angry that her love turned to equally passionate hatred (as it sometimes really does), so she tried to kill Rand, knowing that she would almost certainly provoke the Dark One's wrath. Lanfears feelings may be called twisted, but one that can love could not be truly evil. Elayne, on the other hand, in "Andor or Rand" mode, almost coldly decides she would sacrifice Rand. Honestly, if you would start reading WOT for the first time, you would lost nothing if you would skip all Elayne chapters. Reading through them almost makes me vomit, especially when it comes to Elayne's private thinking and dilemmas. It became interesting again when I started supporting anyone who may get a chance to save us from her stupidity once for all. A myrdaal would be too god for her (elegant, powerful, dedicated...). She would make an appropriate couple with a trolloc!
