  1. Cairen wanted to grunt. Busy work!.This was no proper training. He had been excited to begin his sovin'nai training. but honor demanded his participation in whatever Daird asked. he would not go running away just because something was hard. The three fold land had shaped all Aiel to be stronger than one menial task.

He began digging. the light dust of the desert moved easily as well as the few inches of top soil. His right hand cramping he had to switch to his left, which did not move much dirt, especially as the hole got lower in the ground. Two fingers simply could not move as much as 4. But still he pushed hard using both hands to do as much as he could. Pulling dirt with his scarred left hand also gave him the phantom cramp in his fingers that were missing. A frustrating thing. How could you make missing fingers loosen? Wise ones had never been able to tell him why they did that.

Sweating in sun, back aching from hours of work, Cairen paused to look over his work.Only a few feet down and 4 wide. Ignoring his muscles, he went back to work harder. His arms burned, his neck developed a crick, his legs ached from squatting and standing. His frustration at this meaningless work only fueled his passion to move soil. Silently working all day was no problem to him. He didn't have many friends, yet he would enjoy the sweat tent next time he could get in one. Chastising himself, he pushed his thoughts back into the moment, pain returning to his consciousness. The phantom cramps had gotten worse. Digging continued. He pushed to throw ples of dirt into the air feverishly digging. Pausing to crack his knuckles, the sun had risen. Standing in the hole up to his waist and only a few feet wide, he knew there was no way he would finish even before he heard Daird's footsteps approaching.

  2. I came up with something that makes sense for my character, as he blames himself for hurting his sister, he would not allow a young girl to be hurt. I shifted the focus slightly away from the fighting. We can always work it out with them, or kill them. I hope it worked.

  3. i got nothin. i'll eventually figure something out, but if anyone has any ideas, feel free. I feel like i need to either go down a road of other soldiers coming in and seeing whats unfolding, or a wise one stepping in to make sure there's no violence.

  4. Daird stood up from the ground. Internally Cairen was very pleased with himself. The leg check he used was perfect. But there was no time revel. Daird came on the attack again. Cairen swung his head up and down in large motions dodging Daird's big attacks. but he was being predictable and realized it the moment Daird tried to knee him in the chest. Absorbing the shot he shot his soulder into the older man's chest and pushed off the ground with both legs tackling him to the ground. Daird landed on his back while Cairen rolled past him onto his feet skidding in the dirt. As soon as he gained traction attacking again.

Daird still on the ground coughed as the ground has caused him to lose his breath, Cairen attacked as he defended himself with his feet and rolled to avoid strikes. Lifting his foot in an attempt to strike Daird's thigh. That was his moment to strike as he spun out pushing one leg in between Cairen's legs and spun. Cairen found himself instantly flipped onto his back, Daird flipping his legs and wrapping them around his arm pulling it the wrong way across the the older man's chest. He stopped short of breaking Cairen's arm. He let go and Cairen rolled and stood shaking off his arms.

"i was too confident in my position with you on the ground. A lesson i will have to remember for the future."

  5. "Come.  Let us dance."

Cairen pulled the two daggers that he had on him and dropped them to the ground. Keeping his eyes locked on Daird, He lifted his veil and moved in an arc towards the older man. Coming to stop in front of him he lifted his arms and tilted his body as to create a smaller profile for the man to attack. Cairen did not fight with hands the way most did, he was unsure if this was an advantage or disadvantage. It just was. His scarred hand in the lead, he smiled under his veil.

    "Yes, let us dance."

Immediately Daird attacked. Shifting and stepping he fended off the Sovin'Nai. Arms rolling around in order to prevent strikes to his body, legs checking and dissolving attempted kicks. After taking a few strikes, Cairen had to go on the offensive unleashing a flurry of punches to push Daird back, He attacked and was met with equal force. Slipping inside Cairen struck a shoulder and swept Daird's leg behind him forcing Daird to jump forward and roll smoothly, standing several feet away. Cairin turned to him, ready to continue....

  6. "You, Sovin'Nai what is your name? Do you know what happened here?"

Cairin knew the no nonsense sound of a wise one without even looking. He lowered his veil as he turned to address her though he expected to need it shortly. He would defend the Aiel without hesitation if this continued in the direction it was going.

"Wise one. These Treekillers are without Ji. They claim to have come to trade, but have no sense of value. They started an argument and attacked a blacksmith" He motioned a few meters away to where a Gai'shain was tending to a smith with a gash across his shoulder. The smith sat, starring daggers at the Treekillers. Cairin struggled with how to handle this. Ji'e'Toh was always in his mind. He felt they had Toh towards the Aiel, but how could honorless Treekillers have Toh if they didn't follow Ji'e'Toh? He justified it the only way he knew how...

"Wise one, these Treekillers are as children. Before we are forced to dance the spears, I think they should be punished as children and sent on their way." Wise ones rarely liked to hear opinions, but he would not hold back his thaughts. He was surprised that warriors more quick to the spears than he hadn't already killed the Trekillers.

  7.  "Do you have any thoughts about which society you wish to join?  I am willing to answer whatever questions I can about my own society and others, or I can even direct you to those who will have more answers than I."

Continuing to spin the knife on his hand as the other warrior spoke. Thinking for a moment he then looped the knife around into his hand and flung it to his side, impaling a small poisonous lizard that had been sneaking through the desert sand. "I have always done well with knives, but under your direction, i have learned them even more so. I wish to continue learning with the Sovin'Nai" Picking up the blade and cleaning the blood off of it, he slipped it into his belt. "If they would have me," He would not presume to already have acceptance.

He did not know how to actually apply to a society. He had heard the Far Dareis Mai initiation was filled with tests and tricks. Women may do such things, men could be more direct. And he had few friends to tell him how such a thing was accomplished. "How do I go about joining a society?"

  8. OOC: I'm going to go along with this being outside the three fold land In my timeline, after i've completed joining my society(which i haven't RPd yet, but is incoming). If this ends up being not in the south, then we'll have to adjust

Cairin jogged into the camp of Aiel along with the several other warriors that had been sent out of the threefold land to this place.  This land was strange and lush. He was told that the wetlanders had considered this place hot, they would surely die in the three fold land. The trip had been easy. You could hide in so many places. The land folded up and down here, and the trees here could hide several warriors. Cairen had climbed one to avoid notice at one point. Looking down on the three men who didn't notice him 8 feet above. He could have dropped down and awoken each of them with his knives before the first hit the ground. But there was little honor in ambushing wetlanders.

Trotting into the heart of the camp he felt good to be in a familiar place. The ordered bustle of Gai'shain and warriors with purpose. He knew this world, if not the strange one that surrounded it.  Finding the Sovin'Nai tents he simply sat as his brothers moved about.

"I see you young one. I a, Ruhr", Among them, sept was not needed in a greeting.

"I see you Ruhr, I am Cairin."

"you have been sent from the three fold land to support us. My first sister has told me that the dreamers sent for more spears. You are the only Sovin'Nai sent"

    "I am".

A flash of movement in the corner of his eye Made Cairen leap up, instinctively grabbing for his veil. He scanned the area.

Ruhr spoke, :Does the wetlands make you jump like a desert lizard young one?" Then he heard the noise.

Leaping into action, Cairen veiled himself and pulled out two knives as he bound in the direction of the commotion.

  9. "it seems that this raid was organized and led by hot-blooded spears who were little more than children"

Cairen's thoughts snapped to that comment immediately. He felt pride in how he fought, Even honor in defending his clan. But perhaps he hadn't earned much. He had been in combat before, but this one had felt different. Perhaps he overestimated himself on this day. But the older man had paid him a compliment and honor bringing his thoughts back into the moment. Spinning the one remaining knife he had left on his palm, he presented it handle first for Daird, "One of yours is in the shoulder of a Shaido that I saw being pulled away. If he touched your blade before he left the battle it may now be Gia'shain, knowing how the Shaido grasp for honor." He Smiled slightly, "I will find you it's equal and replace it for you."
