Is Aviendha a darkfriend? Is there a developed theory for/against this?

 

Just re-reading books and wondered this while reading her response to the dull dagger ter'angreal:

"Aviendha found a dagger with gold wire wrapped around a hilt of rough deer-horn; the blade was dull, and by all evidence, always had been. She kept turning that over and over in her fingers—her hands actually began to tremble—until Elayne took it away from her and put it with the others on the cistern’s lid. Even then Aviendha stood for a time, looking at it and licking her lips as though they had gone dry."

 

When you discover what this does (two books later...it conceals holder from view of dark/shadow), this response seems pretty suspect, no?

 

Can anyone direct me to the theory for/against this?

it is very unlikely that she is a darkfriend:

1. you dagger theorie: why reveal what it does to elayne later and even give her the thing ?

2. she truely feels love for rand and elayne (confirmed through bond thingy); and a DF could not LOVE someone else but themselves; (thats no rule but common sense)

3. we have some nice POVs of her and they indicate very strongly that she is a light friend (O.K.: not the one about killing rand, but then... she is aiel, yes?)

I am not sure whether this is mentioned or not, sorry if so.

 

Just started reading New Spring. In it, Moiraine mentions a tingle when Siuan channels. Is it seen else where? Like Eqwene and Elayne (for Moiraine says it is unusual)?. Also, does it have any significance or was it included just to show how close these two were?

afaik there has been no other mention of this phenomenon, and (until now) it had no significance.

there are people out there who say that cyndane is a soul blend of lanfear and moirain and suan will lern this when cyndane is channeling near her, at that moment mat will come there and have some vital information brought back form the ToG how to split them up again !

(yes im not jokeing, ;p)

their souls are not destroyed;

the reason DO cant ressurect them is mostlikely the timeshift:

he has to grab the soul at the moment of death before they go where they go to put them into another body

12:00: 'A' gets balefired for 5 minutes worth of power

12:00+x: DO sees 'A' has been killed at 12:00/00 and tries to grab it directly afterwards

11:55: 'A' dies

11:55+x - 12:00: DO thinks 'A' is alive

(all speculation though)

it has been said, the DO can ressurect someone who hasw been balefired with the smallest possible amount of balefire

i dont think it has ever been mentioned in the books;

the only thing i can come up with is that it could be a remnant of the way of the leaf:

- blacksmiths are not to be hurt/attacked

- blacksmiths will not pick up a spear themselfs (stated in WH by sulin to Perrin concerning the shaido)

perhaps they are the last of the aiel who only create things with their tools (spears are *tools to hunt* AND secondly weapons etc .... the hammer symbolises a tool *only* in their view [perrin still uses it as a weapon, too, but that does not mean aiel do])

but thats only a shot in the dark
