  1. While I can enjoy Meyer/Eddings-bashing, let's refrain from calling Brandon "stinking", okay? I don't think Jason would approve. And besides, there's a difference between criticizing one's work and one's person.

This rubbish again? I couldn't care less about the person. When I say RJ's "replacement stinks" that is a clear reference to his function as RJ's replacement. For the last time, it is a specific, direct, exclusive criticism of the writing, not the person.

And it is a fundamental part of the point I am trying to make: since even the worst RJ book is ten times better than the best BS book, take your time and ENJOY crossroads of twlight!

  2. I, too, enjoy crossroads of twilight. The Mat storyline is awesome. The impulse for many is to not enjoy the Elayne politicking and tea scenes and windfinders, etc. But as I've said on this forum before, my advice is to really hunker down and enjoy every one of those scenes! Savor every word that RJ writes, savor the color of the dresses, the type of carpeting, savor it all. It's the intricate level of detail that makes RJ a better writer than all the crap that's out there, and he's gone now and his replacement stinks so savor it!

  3. I use to mispronounce a LOT...now I try to pronounce as RJ (may he rule forever) intended. So I say Aiel the right way, even though for years I called them "Ale." Some others I used to butcher:

    Nynaeve was nin-yave

    aes sedai was a's sedigh

    I still call elaida elayda

    egwene was ej-ween

    moiraine was moy-rain

    cairhien was care-hien

I definitely called the Amyrlin "Ammarillin"

I guess I will draw the line at mazrim taim. I refuse to call him anything but "tame." Sorry, RJ.

A bunch of those are those double vowel (diphthongs, I believe) words. However, Nynaeve is an example of a diphthong that doesn't sound both vowels.

  4. Just to give my contribution on this subject, I'm in the pro-Cadsuane camp. She is Green Ajah, isn't she? She's basically the female version of Rand: She's the number one warrior of her gender against the Great Lord. She's spent years getting all kinds of useful ter'angreal for this fight. She's got her mind on only one prize - victory. Like Rand, she makes mistakes trying to achieve that victory, but you have to admit that she's been mostly successful. No question Rand was acting like a huge d-bag, and she reined him in effectively. With everyone tiptoeing and kow-towing around Rand, it was a really refreshing breath of fresh air that she did the opposite. Yeah she was playing with fire, so give her kudos for her "cajones" why don't you? What we value bravery when Rand or Lan or Nynaeve or Mat does it, but not Cadsuane Sedai? Nonsense.

And I'm not factoring in anything from TGS. I don't consider that awful crap to be part of RJ's golden masterpiece.
