A Message from wotmania founder Mike Mackert
You might be wondering why you landed here at Dragonmount if you intended to visit wotmania. On August 31, 2009, wotmania closed its virtual doors. Since Dragonmount will clearly be around for a while, I wanted to direct wotmania traffic here, so people would know what was going on. Over time Dragonmount will be incorporating some of wotmania's content into the site.
Also, if you are interested in getting access to the source code behind wotmania, that will be made available online at https://sourceforge.net/projects/wotmania/ in the weeks following the shutdown of the website.
Thanks for many good years, I had a great time running wotmania - thanks to all those who visited and everyone who helped make it a great place to enjoy WoT!
Mike (wotmania)
Welcome wotmania visitors!
Welcome to
Dragonmount.
For over 10 years, Wotmania was one of the leading websites for Robert Jordan's
Wheel of Time series. As a matter of fact, the website was opened within a month of Dragonmount.com. It has been a privilege and an honor to work (and yes, even compete a little) with Mike and his staff over the years. If you're interested, you can read
Dragonmount founder Jason Denzel's
letter to Mike when it was announced that wotmania would be closing. As of now, all traffic to wotmania now forwards to this web page. We are honored to have been asked to host a "landing place" for wotmaniacs.
We realize we can never replace wotmania. We won't even pretend to. Nothing can ever take the place of that amazing community. But if you are, like us, a fan of Robert Jordan's WoT series, then we humbly invite you to take a look around the
Dragonmount community. Perhaps you'll find something to help "feed your WoT addiction".
We've got
forums,
news boards, a
twitter account, a
podcast, a wide variety of
online clubs (called "Organizations"), and even
a Facebook group. Be sure to ask around for other "wotmaniacs" on our forums.
Two fantastic Wot websites have opened their doors in the wake of wotmania's closing. The first is an outstandig reference blog with in-depth exploration and discussion of the series: The Thirteenth Depository.
The second is
ReadandFindOut.com, a site focused on discussing and reviewing fantasy and science fiction books, but which also has message boards for movies, TV shows and games. There is a vibrant and active community, and a dedicated Wheel of Time message board. The site itself is based on Wotmania's distinctive layout, but with brand new coding. Newcomers and old wotmaniacs who are looking for discussion on a wide range of topics will be sure to recieve a warm welcome.
(Please note: the wotmania.com and wotmania.net domain names are not available. DNS for those sites remains in their original ownership.)
