  1. Well...in fairness...to do it right you can only really rank New Spring and Eye of the World up until Knife of the Dreams.

The last three...''books''...can't justifiably be considered canon.

Looking more and more like this position is gaining more and more support among those who matter...

  2. It's almost inexcusable to take the approach ''Team Jordan'' is taking on this. Brandon admits that HE - not RJ - created Nakomi and that he did NOT intend all the mystery to happen. If this is true, then clear it up - clean up your mess. Whatever happened to the now imfamous quote ''Once AMOL is out I can be much more free'' ?

There are multiple questions going tangibly unanswered. We know that Brandon does not call the shots and some of the unanswered things were not specified to be unanswered by RJ so it means that Harriet/Team Jordan are mandating this.

I love Harriet more than anybody, and don't mean disrespect, but she has not come off well in this process. She seems sooo ''stern.'' Her refusal to move up the date, her attitude about E Books, her telling Brandon not t answer fans questions, a few other things...I used to see her as this saintly, kind caretaker...I now see her as overly-stern. Again, not an insult - just my view as an admitted outsider.

Also, building anticipation for the Encylopedia or Short Story by not answering certain questions now is not acceptable either. Youve sold hundreds of millions of these books...dowe really need to keep milking the cow? The ones wanting answers to these questions are the very same people that BOUGHT all those millions of books and halfway built TOR with their purchases. We have been loyal beyond belief. Is it too much to give us what we want?

There will still be plenty of ''mystery'' left - there aren't ANY MORE BOOKS COMING.

I am so let down that many times in this process Brandon has promised something and then when his promised point in time has arrived...been wishy-washy and refused what was promised citing that it had been mandated not to do it after all and he wasn't allowed. Brandon's been left with egg on his face a few times and I now wonder if, in these instances, he's done it for kicks and said and promised things without ever really intending to deliver.

All that said, what Brandon HAS done is appreciated.

  3. Hey there. Welcome. They were inexperienced. Nynaeve is probably the biggest problem here, because she had reason enough to be mad, and Amico shouldn't be able to hold her on her own. Perhaps fear got the better of her, I can't recall. Egwene's and Elayne's abilities were undeveloped, so they're less of an issue (their potentials notwithstanding).

You don't feel like you might be reachin' just a wee bit there, my man??  ;-)

  4. It's during the attack of the mysteriously-sent Trollocs in the Stone early in TSR. Rand's first thought is Sammael and Sammael possibly being there. Moiraine says (slight paraphrase - book not present atm):

''No, there is no way Sammael could get from Illian to Tear - not even if *he* held Callandor.''

Pretty cut and dried, old mate, wouldn't you say?

Has to be a ''Moiraine-Error'' lol.

  5. I'm thinking it HAD to be...I did a ''search'' and ''Travel'' is used in that context already earlier in the series, so JORDAN was definitely aware of Travelling at this point...Moiraine had to be the one in the dark on this one.

Everybody always loves to point out all the things the AUTHORS are ''wrong'' about...a fun thread would be pointing out all the CHARACTER'S errors.

  6. I have a question. We know that it was late, late in the series (between TGS and TOM, I think) when the Seanchan discovered Travelling. ... My question is:

When did the Forsaken re-discover Travelling in the series?

I always found the scene early in TSR (or late in TDR) where Moiraine assures Rand that Sammael could not get to Tear from Illian. I was always like: Huh?? ...Open a gateway, Skim...TRAVEL, lol.

Was this an RJ error, a Moiraine error or MY error not understanding when the ability to Travel was revealed in the series and its limitations?

  7. I have a mancrush on your post/review, batcaver, lol = you elequently discusss so many of the problems many - and including ME, lol - have had for years with DT and SK's handling of it.

    I agree with 80 - 90% of what you said/

    I LOVED THE first three.

Book 4 - middle part/flashback = awesome. First part/ending to the Riddle Game with Charle...eh...cheesy, but pretty good still...the end was a bad sign with all thr Wizard of Oz stuff. ........ Book 5 - A lot of fun and cool parts. Still felt like it had LIFE. ... But definitely a different quality to the writing and the feared ''wolves'' being robots with Dr Doom masks and Harry Potter weapons was astoundingly groan-inducing ... ... Book 6 - a wretched ,dull, flat, pointless book ...Book 7: SOME moments of magnificence but too many problems of books 5 and 6 and the Santa Clause ''EEEEEEEE'' bad guy and being ''erased'' was pathetic. The inside of the tower was cool, but too brief.

King was darned if he did and if he didn't. he finished it for his fans. Its not his fault that young brilliant, fresh time of his life had long since gone. And I even liked the ''begin again'' ending.

Most of the other things you mentioned (king in the story) were horrid, I agree. All in all though, DT as a whole will always have a special place with me.

  8. I have a question.

Earlier I was rereading TOM - the chapter titled: ''A Seven-Striped Lass.'' ... Mat is thinking to himself that he ''had already died once.'' He thinks this as he fingers his scarf that covers the scar he recieved from being hung.

There are old RJ quotes where RH states that Mat's ''death'' came at the hands of the lightening in FOH and NOT by the hanging that gave him the scar and the need for a neck scarf.

So, why is Mat thinking this???

  9. Terez...I checked out the database this weekend for the first time in a long time. It is so awesome. I can't compliment it enough. I tell you what, though - it sparked a lot of very interesting questions in me though. Just, for example:

In TOM, there isa big chunk of timeline between Rand in the beginning with the farmer and when he hits Tar Valon. What was Mr Zen up to throughout all that time?
