  1. The Nielsen report only includes 2 days of viewing. The show released on Sept 1 and this only included data through 9/3. I'm still expecting a drop of course, because Rafe said to expect devastating viewership drops due to the strike stuff. That said does anyone see a single other Amazon prime show on that list? I'm not so sure Amazon will be so quick to cancel a top show. They don't have so many other IPs or shows to fall back on, plus wheel of time can continue to be an evergreen title for them. I don't think Amazon has historically been as savage at canceling shows, and they have deeper pockets than anyone but Apple in this streaming space. Rings of Power apparently only had a 37% completion rate and they already had a 3rd season greenlit. Unfortunately wheel of time keeps hitting so many problems: covid, post production backup delays, writer's strike. I really hope they don't turn this into an every 2 year show, but that seems possible. If they can't get it out annually I bet they will try to go the 5 season arc instead of 8 season
  2. Amazing how many characters got rushed through in episode 7. What's funny is some of the characters in episode 8 will be pretty much showing up out of the blue because they got very little or no screen time. 1. Seamen Valda-- I'm sure he will show up with whitecloaks and conveniently find a way to not be in the main conflict 2. Geoffrey Bornhald-- they probably should have had a scene of him before episode 8, but that's just the way this show goes. too many characters too little time 3. Ingtar-- really a bummer that the five ride forth could not have happened. But considering Ingtar is already in Toman head how could it? unless they give him at least several minutes of the finale, his darkfriend reveal is not going to have a huge emotional impact 4. Padan Fain-- I'm sure we are going to see Fain get that dagger by the end, but lots of plot 5. Masema-- I don't think most even know who he is yet but he will get to distinguish himself in battle. 6. Joiya-- our little baldy darkfriend has some role but have no idea what. Lots of stuff to address. hopefully they still land most of the arcs
  3. Also interesting is what will happen to Verin as she has basically declared herself a traitor against the Amyrlin. It will be a real bummer if she is not at Falme to declare the five ride forth.
  4. I like this idea. The scene where Ishy was holding Matt was really good, but it sure seems like the vision was more of Ishamael's vision than Matt's.
  5. Can't say I love this episode, which is too bad after the momentum from last 3 episodes. Gitara's foretelling felt very underwhelming. Usually the cold openings are great, but this one was rushed and.the acting felt odd. Matt's hallucination scene was just really weird and I don't think provided that much insight into any character other than Ishamael. Bathanes darkfriend turn and sudden demise was way too abrupt. Lanfear never attacked a city head on like that before in the books. The whole thing where they said a forsaken is not strong enough to still a sister is ridiculous. Siuan seems so out of character. They are doing way too much storytelling here. Rand is so weak and he is heading into the final episode Egwene and Perrin were best things about this episode. Yikes, I would say this is one of the worst episodes, but not as bad as season 1 episode 8. I have really tried to promote positivity this whole season and tried to get people involved watching the show. I think this show still needs another 5-10 minutes per episode--- this was the most rushed episode for me.
  6. Lot of good tidbits Rafe mentioned. some are slightly concerning. The viewership answer is a little worrisome, but I don't think Amazon can blame all that on the actual show performance. Also interesting is he said 206 was a favorite, but 207 will likely push alot of buttons on the fans because it features iconic moments but also lots of storytelling that was not part of the books
  7. Wow that was certainly creepy
  8. Prime has gotten to the point where they have to use ads without drastically increasing annual subscription costs. I abhor live sports being forced into Prime TV, especially for such a terrible product as Thursday night football. I really hope they make live sports an additional fee in the future so other users don't have to subsidize it. The reason I got rid of my cable is because ESPN bloats the bill so high, and the last thing I want to do is passively contribute to NFL quarterbacks making $50 million per year.
  9. I never suggested who would train Egwene. We shall see what happens, no one really knows with this show. Will Sophie Okonedo even be available years down the line, and will the show even want to pay her? She was barely available for season 2. Rafe said to expect more deaths in the show than the books. I don't know who will die, but some people are going to get axed out early. Will Siuan be one of them?
  10. hey if ads give them less of an excuse to cancel after season 3 then I am all for it. Pretty much every streaming service will have ads now. They pretty much have to, especially with new residual agreements that will happen with the actors and writers unions
  11. Almost everyone seems to agree about Lan. The magic carpet ride is easy..... portal stones or ways
  12. This show continues to neglect most of the male characters. Definitely needs some director or editor that specializes in action scenes. The Aviendha fight was pretty badly edited, especially for fans of action movies like John Wick. Basically Rand, Perrin, and Ishamael have been the most developed this season. Lan is just a mess. Ingtar is completely ignored, so how are they going to do his redemption arc. Ingtar has to get some spotlight in episode or his last stand will have no impact. Rand doesn't know how to use a sword and has a blademaster battle coming up. Although I saw in the trailer he channels right before the showdown with Turak. Matt is ignored, but they are building up for his horn moment. Perrin and the Aiel will also be interesting to see how that fits in.
  13. It seems Moiraine is playing the stilled Siuan role in this show? Makes me wonder if Siuane and Leane will simply be killed after the civil war. Probably better to kill them off than keep them around in tv medium
  14. Really liked this episode. If Amazon cancels this after season 3 that will really suck. Plus I won't ever trust Amazon to complete a flagship show. The depth and unique elements are coming to this show. So many new terms and concepts in each episode now. Really likes the focus in telaranrhiod Egwene ifinally gets the spotlight and doesn't disappoint. I said before she is my favorite and this just confirms it more. Pulled on my heartstrings big time. Can anyone say this doesn't feel exactly like the books? Treesinging was great. Loial needs more development. Lan.... so disappointing. Has he succeeded in anything on this show yet? They definitely aren't making him look like the best of the warders. Matt was good to see, but I think he is still a big mystery to the audience. The show is probably doing this on purpose, but the non book readers are like what is the point of that guy? Lanfear is feeling spot on to the books. That is exactly the relationship she had with Rand, even conspiring against Ishamael. Plus she shows how dark she is with Liandrin. Looks like we are finally seeing cat crosses the courtyard next episode with Rand and Lan.
  15. is a 6/10 an above average grade for you? that kind of seems like a low mark for that?
  16. I think that's the part I have a problem with. the sooner she is not the main character the better for the story. At least her plot is merged with Rand again so it should be more central. Hopefully Lan can be merged soon too, his storyline is really dragging
  17. https://ew.com/tv/moiraines-family-drama-intensifies-wheel-of-time-clip/ A snippet of episode 6. all this drama is interesting but hopefully it is not detracting too much from the main plot
  18. At least 2 mentions of compulsion on this episode. that means we will get to see a character 'under the influence' of compulsion very soon. I can't really guess who it would be. I wonder if they will use compulsion on Barthanes to show how dangerous the shadow can be. He's a good character for it since he will die anyway
  19. Alot of the side characters are crushing . While I love Verin, I have to go with an evil character since the forsaken are actually better in the show than the books. Between Ishamael and Lanfear is a toss up and I'm kind of enjoying them both
  20. Verin as a darkfriend is too juicy to take out and we already saw her 2 notebooks. Since Cadsuane was mentioned I imagine we will get her eventually. Liandrin being something more than straight comic evil is great and she seems to be a favorite
  21. Very good episode.... maybe the best of season 2? Finally some more action to pick the pace up. The Lanfear chase was interesting and showed her cruelty, but why are they holding back the gateways is all I can think. Lanfear doesn't need a horse. Perrin gets to be the star of this episode, and the wolf communication is pretty great. One oddity was that Elayne said Perrin's wife was not his pack. Not a wolf sister or deeper meaning? Perrin's meetup with Dain all great, but the fight scene too dark and hard to focus on. This team needs to brighten up some of these scenes. Suroths dark motivation is pretty interesting, but what could it be? I liked how they chopped her nails off for punishment. Batthanes, always gotta love that guy.... Kind hearted darkfriend. How many episodes until he is toast? Seeing Lanfear and Ishamael in the dreamworld pretty great. First mention of Moghedien and Graendal. Verin and the brown Ajah fun to see, finally get to explore a different Ajah. I'm sure Verin suspects something from Liandrin and the white asparagus. Also Sheriam is either painted to be an obvious darkfriend or a woman under compulsion. Detective Verin at work but it will be interesting to see how or if she ends up in Falme. The Barthanes wedding appears to be where a big confrontation goes down. Siuane is likely to be present at this. And it appears Matt and Min will be there as well. Barthanes won't get to be king for long.... WOT chasing in the steps of GOT? Poor Egwene. Episode 6 should will definitely be Egwene's turn to star. Aviendha having toh towards Perrin is going to change the relationship with Rand quite a bit. Will be interesting especially now that she is flirting with Perrin a bit. Wonder how all that gets worked out. The details are all changed around, but this definitely still feels like Wheel of Time. Matt is still mostly missing from this show, but he is mostly absent in TGH as well.
  22. 2 weeks after the premier and we are past the middle of the season. Still waiting to see an official press release on WOT viewership. When Jack Ryan released this July they had a pr out days after talking about how many people tuned in. Hopefully the numbers don't disappoint too much.... the silence is worrying.
  23. Well during season 1 there was a lot of hype articles from Amazon after the reason saying WOT was the #1 most viewed debut show, ect. If we don't see those articles soon then we know Amazon is not happy with the results. Also they usually hype the mid season and we haven't gotten a peep. Amazon must be saving a lot of marketing dollars here, but hopefully they aren't crushing their show in the process.
  24. Let's just hope this show is getting enough viewership. Between the writer's strike and the lack of marketing WOT didn't make the top 10 streaming list in its first couple days. Will have to see again next week when it gets a full week.
  25. Book fans are losing their minds.... I wasn't sure how I felt about the Lanfear death. After thinking about it I'm ok with Forsaken being able to recover from death. That's the dark one's wheelhouse right? Balefire can't come soon enough. I'm super confused about the timelines still. Was Mins scene with Ishamael, and the girls encounter with Liandrin months before Rands visit to the Selene cabin? And I don't see how Moiraine honestly expects to outrun Lanfear. This whole Cairhienen showdown is going to be very interesting. Why do they need to make Matt feel like he is going to Cairhienen on his own free will, as opposed to just kidnapping him? Speaking of Cairhienen, who is the Damodred son that is in line to be married into the throne? Galad seems like he would be too young to be Anaveres son.
