  1. Dragonmount has some amazing members!  We'd like to honor those who have used The Wheel of Time as inspiration, or have contributed to the fandom, or who simply want to share their Wheel of Time story with others who love the series as much as they do.

Today we are highlighting member @Lian Crescent who has worked tirelessly through the month of October to produce some amazing Wheel of Time artwork.  During the Inktober Challenge (a daily drawing prompt for each day in October) Lian referenced something from The Wheel of Time!

I had the opportunity to chat with Lian about his amazing artwork.

    1.  Tell us about your Wheel of Time journey.  When did you start reading the series?

My Wheel of Time journey started back in 2002 when the Lord of the Rings movies and fantasy was popular. My sister borrowed a book from her college classmate which was The Eye of The World. The cover of Lan and Moiraine caught my eye and I asked my sis what is it about. I then bought my own copy which was the version that was split into two parts, From the Two Rivers, that was published on that same year.

    2.  Has Wheel of Time inspired other areas of your artwork?

The Japanese art for Wheel of Time has influence my work especially with the character designs. I also took inspiration from Disney and anime and mixed them with my WoT art. I would like to give credit to my dear friend, Mina U.(pettymotives online). Her Forsaken designs greatly inspired my work. Hope WoT fans would check her work as well!

    3. After Inktober is over, do you plan on making more Wheel of Time fanart?

Definitely but I would have take a break since have a long queue of commissions that needs to be finish. haha

    Day 23 - Ancient

    Day 23 - Ancient

    Day 21- Treasure
    Day 21 - Treasure

    4. Some of your works have depth, like “Day 21: Treasure” with Elayne’s action pose or the symmetry used in “Day 23: Ancient.” Others are shown with humor; “Day 18: Misfits” fits this, as does “Day 26: Dark (One).” How do you decide on a tone for your current piece?

It's usually a challenge to find ideas for WoT characters to match the official prompts. I often go for a comedic tone as long as it fits which sadly ending up not using my initial sketches like on "Day 18: Misfits." My first drawing was the Two Rivers five staring in the distance in a serious look. I wasn't happy with it so I had to redo it with The Chosen in a wacky pose. So yeah, I have a couple of scrap Inktober sketches and some of them will never be finished or publicly seen.

    Day 20 - Tread

    5. So far, which piece has been your favorite?

My favorite so far is "Day 20: Tread" the one with Aviendha. I put a lot of effort and detail on it and happy on how it turn out. "Day 15: Legend" is a personal favorite cause I made it for someone.

    6. Do you have any social media pages you’d like other Wheel of Time fans to know of?

Yes, I am active on Twitter @LianCrescent. I also have a tumblr of the same name where I post my old Wheel of Time fan art.

Thank you, Lian!  Your artwork is amazing and it was so fun to follow your progress throughout the whole month!

  2. Our winters in Arizona are quite different from other places.  Our weather does cool and it’s so refreshing, but we don’t get snow.  (Well at least where I live we don’t get snow.) So I look forward to fall-like temperatures and getting to dress in layers!

I’ll agree hot chocolate is yummy and it’s delicious when the weather is cold, but I still drink iced coffee all throughout winter.

  3. Hi Caldazar!  Welcome to the White Ajah’s Quarters.

To me, the White Ajah means a cozy place to come and hang out.  Yes, we dedicate our lives (as much as possible) to thinking logically and being cool, but in the end it’s simply fun to be here.  We’ve got great members and we’ve evolved so much over the 21 years DM’s been around.

Hey, are there any white ones around?

There are plenty of Whites here, we just move at a leisurely speed!

Thanks for coming to visit us!  It’s lovely to meet you!

Hmm...what am I willing to admit to this bunch? Hmmm....

I too enjoy the occasional erotica, Mashie. Any recommended authors?

Right now I’m loving an author named Keira Andrews.  She writes super sexy books.  *lol* If I’m looking for plot with my smut I love Jordan L Hawk.  They’re both more “explicit romance” not necessarily erotica.  For erotica, I’ve reread one called “Working out the Kinks” by Misha Horne.  Oh so good!  And there was a BDSM one I read called “Not Safe for Work” by LA Witt.  Loved it!

u know thats what e-books for ? no revealing covers ?

Too true!  But it still shows up in my Amazon purchases!  *LOL*

  6. We all have things we love that we’re a tad embarrassed about.  It’s time to bring those passions into the Light!  Confess those guilty pleasures!  What do you love?  Why is it embarrassing?

I’ll go first: I love reading explicit romance novels!  The dirtier the better!  It’s embarrassing because the covers always have naked people on them and that makes me squirm!

Another confession:  I like to dress up my dogs in cute outfits!  It’s embarrassing because people assume I’m overcompensating for not having children.  I honestly just think they’re cute!

Your turn!  What’s your guilty pleasure?

  7. *lol*

My husband calls it “pop.”  I usually cover all my bases and say “soda pop” when taking about it.

I don’t think I’ve ever tried ginger ale.  I bet I’d like it!  I used to drink the cream soda and mix it with sugar free butterscotch flavor for a quick butterbeer.  Yum!

  8. I’ve been having a hard time with caffeine lately, so I stopped drinking soda regularly for that reason.  (Even my coffees are usually decaf.)  But I will indulge in a caffeine free Coke every few days.  They still taste so yummy!

But I do like to surprise my husband with new and interesting flavored food and drink.  He tried the dark berry Dr. Pepper and liked it.  He drank the orange Vanilla Coke, but I don’t think it was his favorite.  He really liked the Voltage Mountain Dew!

  9. Here in Arizona we have several stores that specialize in selling soda.  One is called Sodalicious.  They mix sodas with hundreds of flavors!  And even the major brands are coming up with all sorts of interesting combinations.  Orange Vanilla Coke.  Strawberry Guava Diet Coke.  Mountain Dew Voltage.  The possibilities are limitless.

So, what’s your favorite soda flavor?  Are you brave enough to try all the crazy new flavors?

  10. We had our first practice today!  It went awesome!  My coach finalized the music and we learned the first ten seconds of the program.  Lol.  We talked about later elements, but we went through the first few seconds four or five times—once with music—and it was nerve racking!  I’ve got no confidence in this regard and I’m going to have to practice like crazy to get that confidence for the show!
