Wolves:

Do they know WHO Rand (LTT/HotH) is? If "yes" have they always known even before he did? If "no" do they know now? or, Does it matter to them?

Is "Shadowkiller" always their name for the Dragon?

Are there any other humans besides Rand/"Shadowkiller" who are NOT wolf-brothers that the wolves have special names for?

EDIT:I think I found the answer to this. If encyclopaedia-wot.org is correct, the only other non-wolfbrother human to have a special name w/ them is Lanfear:Moonhunter

Here are some biology questions about the warder bond/first sister(or brother) bonding/Elayne's bonding idea, for any science/medical buffs or anyone who wishes to take a stab at it.

Does the bonding effect the gonads (ovaries & testes)(specifically the gametes(eggs & sperm)) of those involved in the bond? Meaning, any offspring from those involved in the bond, would they have a "special" bond w/ their parents? Would it matter who did the bonding?

If the answer is "no", the bonds do NOT effect them, technically SHOULD it be "yes" to be scientifically accurate?

I know a mother's bond with her children is usually stronger then with the father since they spend 9months w/her. And, I know among the Aiel certain relations are closer then others like first/second-mothers are considered closer then first/second-fathers (something like that) could the bond be the reason for this or is this just the natural bond?

If everything is unknown, well thanks any way.

In EotW they never stayed in the stedding, as I recall. Wait, do you mean when he was taken by the Whitecloaks? I believe Perrin was unconscious at the time.

 

IIRC Perrin goes into the Wolf Dream only from TDR onwards.

 

And in ToM he once enters the Dream near ToG, and then pretty much every practise session with Hopper, I assume. This was after the dreamspike was in place.

 

Also the Finnland can be entered via TAR, according to Birgitte, at least.

I can't remember the stedding sequences in EoTW and I don't have the book.

Elyas led Perrin, and Egwene to an abandoned stedding to escape the ravens. It was also the only source of fresh water for miles which made it a popular camp spot.

I have been wondering for the last few books (about 200 pages into ToM now, but won't mention any of that here) as to who knows about Rands bond to his 3 Women, I suppose only the 'main' characters. I have got a little confused by this overall. Nynaeve seems to know, but I don't ever recall this being discussed (I would assume the only real chance of this happening would be talking to Min). Cadusune has worked it out (as of CoT). Birgitte I assume also knows via the bond to Elayne. I guess she would keep this a secret, or perhaps tell the wise ones know also. The main point in this though is Nynaeve's knowing, I know she knows but don't recall her ever been told, and wonder if there was a missed announcment or similar. If anyone knows that would be a great help, saving my sanity and the endless web searches (and then I can get on with finishing ToM) :)

I didn't think anyone knew the whole of it except themselves (Rand and the three). Alanna knows he let someONE else bond him but not who. Caddy and maybe Nynaeve may suspect HE bonded Min, and

. I don't think anyone knows about Avi, except maybe Brigitte as you mentioned. Mat maybe the only one to know about Rand's relationship with the three if he stopped to think about it.

Main Characters by Height

Some aren't really mains but should get mentioned. Most of this is in the books or from the encyclopedia moratcoim mentioned and some is guessed. I think most are light skinned unless noted otherwise.

FYI, since the neck is never mentioned in the measurements, whenever a description says "a head" taller or shorter I assume the neck is included in it.

Ex. Tam is a head shorter then Rand so I see Tam's head coming up to where Rand's neck meets his shoulders.

Light-side

Loial is head and shoulders taller then Rand. His nose is as broad as his face. He has pointed ears with tufts of hair. His hair is a shaggy black mane. His eyebrows are very long and hang down like tails. He has pale eyes. He has a narrow strip of hair up his chest as thick as fur.

Lan is blue eyed, broad shouldered, has shoulder length dark hair that is graying at the temples and held back w/ a hadori, heavy build, hard angular face, hairy chested, and not as handsome as he used to be.

Rand has gray/blue eyes, dark-reddish, unruly, silky-fine hair, fair skinned (that is different enough from TR's folk for Elaida to point it out), taller then most men, in fact he's just as tall as Lan and is more broad in the shoulders though not as heavily built (however, for Lan to be MORE heavily built means Rand is already well built to begin with)(TGH), is more slender then Perrin(TDR), 3rd or 4th most physically appealing mentioned of main men with his legs and rear-end getting some mention. He's a good enough swimmer to teach someone, a strong walker/runner, the best of the young men in archery, an excellent climber and at throwing his own weight around so muscle groups for these activities will be well developed. Shares facial features with his mum.

Logain is dark eyed, dark hair of shoulder length curls, darkish skin(?), broad shouldered, tall, almost as "big" (I guess the author meant build-wise) as Rand(CoT), rivals Rand in physical appeal

Perrin is half a head shorter then Rand but just as broad shouldered, just as (if not more) built then Lan due to his black smith training, has yellow/golden eyes, dark brown shaggy hair, short beard (and I guess mustache), slightly hairy chested, handsome

Galad is dark of eye and hair, light skinned(?), 1st place in physical appeal, tall, slender, (I haven't seen him described as having a heavy build or broad shoulders)

Gawyn is a full head taller then his sister, has the same reddish gold curls, blue eyes, similar build as Rand, broad shouldered, oval face, handsome

Thom has White hair, long white mustache, blue eyed, tall but slightly stooped

Mat is almost a full head shorter then Rand, long-limbed wiry body, brown eyes and hair, NOT described as good looking(except from two sources one which is second hand) but not ugly enough for Birgitte, his bottom IS mentioned though as well as his eyes once (I think), smooth chested, well muscled for his size.

Tam is a full head shorter then Rand, mostly gray hair that used to be black, dark eyes, square face, broad shouldered and deep chested, good build, is the best archer in the TR so he's got a very strong back

Aviendah is a full head shorter then Rand, similar skinned and hair color, green eyed, "full-busted for a (former)maiden of the spear", long legs, well built for a woman, and beautiful.

Berelain is tall, dark of eye and black hair that falls below the shoulders(?), is built enough to handle herself in a fight, very beautiful(#2 most beautiful).

Faile is tall, has a large, bold nose, a generous mouth, high cheekbones and dark, slightly tilted eyes.

Birgitte has blue eyes, long golden hair intricately braided, and is taller then Elayne.

Elayne is tall for a girl and beautiful. Her face is a perfect oval framed by a mass of sunburst curls, her lips are full and red. Her eyes are sapphire blue and she has a fine, well-rounded bosom (whatever that means). Now has a pregnant belly.

Bela is a small, strong, shaggy mare. (I don't remember if her color was mentioned.)

Min is taller then Nynaeve, slender, has large dark brown eyes and dark hair that is now in ringlets to her shoulders. She has more bosom then Leane which isn't much.

Nynaeve is beautiful, slender with same coloring as Egwene but a little taller, and same bust size as Elayne.

Egwene has big brown eyes and dark hair, and is slightly taller then Moiraine. She's slender and beautiful.

Moiraine has large, dark eyes and dark hair hanging in ringlets, and she's just barely comes up to Rand's chest. She's considered short even in Cairhien.

Tuon/Fortuona is dark-skinned, a shaved head and is very petite(even more so then Moiraine I'm guessing) with a heart-shaped face, large brown eyes, and full lips. She has boy-slender hips.

(I'm not sure on any others like Siuan, Caddy, Elaida, Garth Bryne)

Dark-side

Rahvin is Rand's height or more and larger. He is dark and very handsome (2nd, place behind Galad). He is youthful except for the white streaks at his temples. He has nearly black eyes.

Ishamael / Moridin is not as tall as Lews Therin and handsome / is a tall, broad shouldered young( a little older then Rand) man the same size (build and height) as Rand with bright blue eyes and a too strong chin.

Demandred is hawk-nosed and handsome

Semihage is taller than most men, with a smooth dark face and dark eyes. She has long, slender fingers, is slender, beautiful and she has full lips. She has short, wavy hair.

Asmodean has dark hair, is handsome, and tall with dark, deep-set eyes.

Be'lal is tall with close-cropped white hair.

Taim is tall, slender with black hair and dark slightly slanted eyes(? couldn't find/remember much for his decription)

Sammael is muscular, solid and compact. He's slightly taller than average, with blue eyes, golden hair and a square cut beard. He has a livid scar from hairline to beard.

Aginor / Osan'gar was a dried up old prune but briefly was as tall and strong as Rand, harder than Lan, with the face of a strong man in his prime / has a plain, creased face, and has lank, untrimmed hair.

Balthamel / Aran'gar is physically so old that he covers every inch of his skin / has green eyes, ivory skin, an oval face and glossy black hair. She's beautiful and voluptuous, and wears blue-slashed green silk that leaves half her bosom on display.

Lanfear / Cyndane is incredibly beautiful(#1 of the ladies) and graceful, has pale, smooth skin, long, black hair and eyes dark as night. She dresses in white with silver jewelry. She is tall and slender with dark eyes and shoulder-length black hair.

As Sylvie, she is an ugly old crone with a sharp chin, sharp nose and lots of hairy warts.

As Keille Shaogi, she is short and immensely fat with black eyes and coarse black hair, but she still has her husky, melodious voice. / is a short young woman with long silver hair, vivid blue eyes and an impressive bosom. She holds herself very straight striving for height.

Moghedien is sturdily handsome with shoulder-length hair worn loose. She has large, dark eyes and smooth cheeks.

As Gyldin she is sturdily handsome and dark-braided.

As Marigan, she looks as if she was once plump. She has a weary, blunt face.

Graendal is beautiful but somewhat fleshy with elaborately curled red-gold hair.

Mesaana appears just short of her middle years and has blue eyes.

Paden Fain is a pale, skinny fellow with gangly arms, wide ears, and a massive beak of a nose.

I was debating whether or not in responding to this but why not, we have 18+ months to go til the end of the series. Sorry for the length.

It's pretty obvious who #1 is.

1. Rand - He's been my favorite throughout the series from the very beginning. Some may find that odd but what can I say, I'm stubborn, I don't switch teams even if mine is doing poorly, I have a thing for shepherds and I could see the shepherd shine through even in his darkest. TGS was the hardest for me to read though, I felt a lot like Nynaeve. He has all the qualities of a shepherd: humble, brave, strong but gentle, approachable, and extremely self-less. In-fact I greatly admire his self sacrificing spirit, he is ALWAYS thinking about others. He recognizes what he doesn't know, freely admits mistakes and apologizes with sincerity. He's intelligent (learns via reading, asking questions and observation), duty oriented but still likes to have fun (pity he has no time to-except at night anyway ). I also love his interactions with Mat; he's patient and gentle with him up to a point. He's very loyal too his friends, can see through any one's attempt at manipulation, and although he's good looking, he's not cocky. Am I blind too his faults? Not at all; there are times I want to smack him but he's done a good job of smacking himself at this point. I must say VoG was such a breath of fresh air it became my favorite chapter of all.

Most of these I've gone back and forth with but have either redeemed themselves and/or have helped Rand in some way.

2. Nynaeve - In the very beginning I found her to be a complete nag but she's always gentle w/ Rand and is also extremely self-less, shows compassion to everyone, and is (and always have been) very loyal to Rand.

3. Mat - He was my favorite at first before Rand stole my heart but he remained #2 a while for his humor and how brotherly he was to Rand on their journey to Camrylin(sp?) and visa-versa (they basically took care of each other). He did drop off my list in TGH to ACOS for various reasons, but he's back on since he grew into his responsibility. I love HIS interaction w/ Rand (especially in Rhuidean(sp?) and I wish we got some flashbacks of pranks they did together. Perhaps we will when Mat is standing at Rand's death bed with tears in his eyes.

4. Min - She reminded me of a female "Mat" (extremely loyal to Rand, tries to get others to smile, she even complains at first about her role w/ Rand, and gets drunk) I think the only time I wanted to kick her was how she manipulated Rand into taking her along in the KOD, the fact that she did that was bad enough but how she did it was down right low.

5. Aviendah- Her temper was annoying and teasing him was rude but for the most part I found her relationship w/ Rand kinda funny.

6. Elayne - She IS annoying but being the only one to slap Egwene gets her high points in my book.

7. Moiraine - I found her manipulation, and assuming the boys were too stupid to notice, insulting to them but they ARE alive because of her and since she learned Rand was NOT a puppet she has gained high marks.

8. Tam - He's another shepherd, saved and raised the DR to be the good man he is.

9. Thom - For his humor alone even though he was a dirty old man.

10. Perrin - I liked him until ACOS when he expected Rand to be nice to the very women who hurt him, and I have not liked him until TOM which I can't go into here. The wolf-brother thing I could never get into. Whenever they where passing the wolf "greeting" I would get a nasty visual of dogs sniffing each others butts.

10. Lan - He IS kinda dry but he had similar beginnings as Rand, taught him well, was a much needed friend and mentor for Rand, and taught him how to stand up to AS.

Well I think Moraine was right, as Mat actually had the dagger in his possession, whereas Rand was just in contact by association.

Yes, and Moraine was surprised it hadn't effected Rand yet. Or, am I mixing that up with her surprise they made it that far (with Fades and Dark-friends being irresistibly drawn to it- was that Tarveren or because Rand can channel/touch the OP), in which case I'm sorry.

Questions about TEOTW: Mat w/ ruby-dagger sickness and Rand not affected by him. Sorry if this was asked already.

Was this because of Rand's tavereness or because he could channel, or some other reason? In other words, why didn't sick Mat w/ that dagger affect Rand? If Perrin (not as strongly taveren as Rand) was w/ Mat instead of Rand would he have been effected?(Moraine said it would have eventually, are we assuming she's right or is this a guess on her part)

I apologize if these are stupid questions about TAR, but I've been wondering them for a while.

I know someone can get real injuries from TAR (a burn, scrape, bruise, poison, etc) but what about illnesses or pregnancies even. Some living things do show up in TAR, yes? Is it possible to get sick from a virus or bacteria or other Microbe in TAR? And, what about getting pregnant in TAR? I'm thinking "no" because you can't carry anything out yes?) of TAR including pathogens or sperm, but would you still have the effects of the disease or a pseudo-pregnancy?
