  1. INACTIVE CHARACTER WARNING @Jehlal Please respond to this thread by March 2, 2024 or this character will be moved to INACTIVE. You can reactivate this character at any time. Just PM any member of the RP Staff!
  2. Let's say we abandon the m'Hael/Amyrlin titles. Or, they become leadership titles under the Head of Council title. The idea is even a non-channeler can be higher than the Amyrlin/M'Hael making their role more diminished. It is Highly possible that the channelers could separate again, but for the time being we are assuming they merge and balance with the non-channelers. Anyway, these were the three I thought up, and I'm open to others.
  3. Okay, re-working some of this... May need help on some of the numerical descriptors. (ish...) With the following starting points: Previously: 0-4 for NEW characters, 1 additional if willing to actively teach/train with new characters in a ranked role. NEW: 0-9 for New Players, 0-13 for New Characters of previously established Players, No limit on transferring Legacy Characters. WEAPON SKILL/SCORE (WS) BASIC/UNTRAINED/PASSING ABILITY - No Group Limitations ALL NEW PLAYER Biographies will fall under this category, with history to reflect active skill development. Weapons: Limited to 2 weapons; 1 Practiced, 1 Trained. 0 - No working knowledge of weapons. 1 - Passing Knowledge - You can chop wood, chicken, heads, etc. Hammering nails isn’t that difficult either. 2 - You’ve held a weapon, and you can even hit immobile objects. Trick shots are fun but you’re working on it. 3 - You understand more about weapon safety and what NOT to do. Carve a decent fruit statue, fillet a fish in the wild, and not ruin it. 4 - Holding a weapon is starting to feel more intuitive. You understand that the sharper the knife the less you cry when cutting onions. And you’re fast at it. TRANSITIONAL - Finding a Teacher (Roleplay Requirement) Weapons: Limited to 3 weapons; 1 Practiced, 2 Trained.Unlimited Untrained. 5 - Life skills are not the same as disciplined skills. Either you have found a teacher and have come to understand that you have so much more to learn, OR you have found yourself in a situation where you realize your skills can not hold up against a skilled opponent. INTERMEDIATE/TRAINING/SKILLED - Some Group Limitations Weapons: Limited to 4 weapons; 1 Practiced, 2 Trained, 1 Proficient. 6 - Few things teach you how to learn more than actually teaching the basics to the new kids. Congratulations, you are still hammering out the basics but you’re much faster than the new kid. 7 - Training is one thing, Experience is another. Somehow those skills are sticking and are now more natural in movement than forced, and instincts are no longer so clumsy. Or so you feel. 8 - 9 - TRANSITIONAL - Acknowledgement (Roleplay Requirement) Weapons: Limited to 5 weapons; 3 Trained, 2 Proficient.. 10 - You have done the work and it’s starting to pay off. Maybe your pay is better, people are betting you in fights and the odds are more in your favor. That promotion to the next military rank has been approved! While you understand that you still have much more to learn you certainly are no slouch! PROFESSIONAL/SEASONED/ADVANCED - GROUP LIMITATION Weapons: Limited to 5 weapons; 2 Trained, 2 Proficient, 1 Specialized. Unlimited Practiced. Discipline: Assign a Unique Discipline. 11 - 12 - 13 - MASTERY - GROUP LIMITATION (Roleplay Requirement) Weapons: Limited to 5 weapons; 3 Proficient, 2 Specialized. 14 - GRAND-MASTERY - GROUP LIMITATION (Roleplay Requirement, Staff Approval) Weapons: Limited to 5 weapons; 2-3 Proficient, 2-3 Specialized. 15 - Character Example Using an NPC - Everett Whidbey - as an example as a Trainee, this is how his Weapon Score looks. His only skill is in Swords. Everett Whidbey WS - 5 Trained - Sword Practiced - Shield Using an old character - Cairma Vishnu - as an example of an Experienced Blademaster, this is how her Weapon Score could looks. She was rather unique in comparison to Everett's desire to be simple and defensive. Cairma Vishnu Furyforged Berserker - Blademaster WS - 14 Specialized - Zwhwilander (Bastard Sword), Dual Swords Proficient - Daggers (Formerly a member of the Ren'shai) Note: Just because a character can train in 5 weapons, they do not have to train in 5 weapons. WEAPON DISCIPLINE: Not every aspect of weapon skill can be summed up in a simple score or number. Experience can say a lot about a character and how they work in relation to their surroundings and each other. Not every battle is done with a blade, often the mind learns just as much as the body. Moreso, no two warriors are truly alike. Defining a particular discipline is up to each player, or may adopt the discipline of another through roleplay. Disciplines must have a basic "Title" and generalized description to be considered Official. Roleplay Requirements These are specific Roleplay designed to both celebrate but also acknowledge the work a character puts into growth. These are single Roleplay that MUST be completed in full before transitioning into the next rank. Their completion must also be verified by a Staff Member before continuing. Group Limitations Weapon training is universal, but should not be the priority of everyone. A character should reflect this but also understand that a character incredibly skilled in knives with cooking is not the same as someone skilled in daggers for killing. ALL non-military groups cannot surpass WS 10. Exceptions such as Cultural Nobility and Story need to be approved by Staff. Leveling Up: Previously: Each weapon can only be "leveled up" at a time. For every 6 threads, with 6 posts or more, a boost to your weapon may be applied. No thread can be used twice for raising a weapon score. NEW: A Weapon Score can be "leveled up" from ANY Thread. For every 5 threads, with 5 posts or more by your character, you may raise your score. {At this time, we are allowing 3 threads that have 8 posts or more by your character too.} ~~~~~~~~ I -think- that balances almost everyone's suggestions.
  4. I kinda leaned more like this: https://app.milanote.com/1RBeK61lS4nn40?p=AZSG5rsV99M That said... more graphic hunting doesn't hurt.
  5. here are some milestones. 🙂 Happy to add more!

  7. I might have some ideas for that. The military needs to be built from something, with someone in charge or leading through experience. Merging Warders and botrh would mean visionaries and opinions and where/what they would want to see being built. If Eb has opinions on this, i would lean that way. Especially if there were things she did not like and would want changed.
  8. That was the word I was hunting for but brain didn't connect. 🙂 I think we can find a happy medium here, it's just going to take another hammer or two to make it fit our needs.
  9. What if offense/defense vs. strategy was a scale instead of a number? Hmmmm.. i have idea how that could look but I'm going to let it stew a moment...
  10. Ah, that's right. (I was in final days of pregnancy when the last book came out and I read it in 2 days. XD Details are fuzzy). I'm cool with them leaving, and Wayfarer makes a good point. Asha'men and Aes Sedai can build things significantly faster together than relying on ogier craftsmanship without the one power.
  11. The Cookpot Answer: Shaidar Haran. Feel free to start a new thread/game.
  12. The answer is Executioner Answer: As sure as peaches are poison. Feel free to start a new thread.
  13. Okay, so Blademaster is the most ‘common’ used term, but Weaponmaster I think can be the loose equivalent for individuals wanting to pursue a different weapon style. Anyway, I digress. Let’s default with 0-15. With the following starting points. Previously: 0-4 for NEW characters, 1 additional if willing to actively teach/train with new characters in a ranked role. (Which I will try to knock out this weekend.) NEW: 0-9 for New Players, 0-13 for New Characters of previously established Players, No limit on transferring Legacy Characters. WEAPON SKILL/SCORE (WS) BASIC/UNTRAINED/PASSING ABILITY - No Group Limitations ALL NEW Biographies will fall under this category, with history to reflect active skill development. Carve a decent fruit statue, fillet a fish in the wild and not ruin it. 4 - Holding a weapon is starting to feel more intuitive. You understand that the sharper the knife the less you cry when cutting onions. And you’re really fast at it. TRANSITIONAL - Finding a Teacher (Roleplay Requirement) 5 - Life skills are not the same as disciplined skills. Either you have found a teacher and have come to understand that you have so much more to learn, OR you have found yourself in a situation that you realize your skills can not hold up against a skilled opponent. INTERMEDIATE/TRAINING/SKILLED - Some Group Limitations 6 - Few things teach you how to learn more than actually teaching the basics to the new kids. Congratulations, you are still hammering out the basics but you’re much faster than the new kid. 7 - 8 - 9 - TRANSITIONAL - Acknowledgement (Roleplay Requirement) 10 - You have done the work and it’s starting to pay off. Maybe your pay is better, people are betting you in fights and the odds are more in your favor. That promotion to the next military rank has been approved! While you understand that you still have much more to learn you certainly are no slouch! PROFESSIONAL/SEASONED/ADVANCED - GROUP LIMITATION 11 - 12 - 13 - MASTERY - GROUP LIMITATION (Roleplay Requirement) 14 - 15 - WEAPON EXPERIENCE (WE) or LOG (WL) UNLIMITED (Maybe?) (1-5)? Roleplay Requirements These are specific Roleplay designed to both celebrate but also acknowledge the work a character puts into growth. These are single Roleplay that MUST be completed in full before transitioning into the next rank. Their completion must also be verified by a Staff Member before continuing. Biographies that Surpass this number would need Staff Approval. Group Limitations Weapon training is universal, but should not be the priority of everyone. A character should reflect this, but also understand that a character incredibly skilled in knives with cooking is not the same as someone skilled in daggers for killing. All non-military groups cannot surpass WS 10. Exceptions must be Staff Approved.
  14. Maybe it's me, but I dunno if the book was found in the books? Or is that just the story we are going with?
  15. saving this link for later... https://www.fantasytowngenerator.com/ or https://watabou.github.io/city-generator/
  16. General city location? 😄 note to self: maps are hard in smaller details....... Pretty sure I need better assets to make it more accurate-ish. Though at some point I'll try to figure out how to make it look more like this: ish....
  17. Added a council concept to Merrilor. Yes I tossed Maegan in there. no, I'm not forcing the idea. if someone else has one that wants to challenge it, I'm all ears. Figure if we want the ball rolling it's good to have a few familiar old faces with the new. Mae is... unique in her connections though it was unintended at the time. The school/raising/etc is next on my list. Millitary is a close second depending which inspires me more.
  18. MERRILOR SIGIL: Leadership Structure: - 15 Members. 13 + 2 Head of Council - Voted in by Council Responsible for guiding discussions, maintaining order, and ensuring fair representation Term limits to promote fresh perspectives and prevent stagnation Head of Council Term Limits One Term (Short) - Serves for a brief period of time, typically one term Two Terms (Moderate) - Able to strike a balance and stability, infusing new ideas with old. Three Terms (Extended) - Able to produce and see through long-term plans, and continuous lay is able to balance ideas among the council as a whole whether the sole proprietor of power or not. How this is approached can depend on the individual in the role and how they relate to the various members on the Council. Once voted out, they can not be Head of the Council again without 100% consensus. Council Member Limits Each group serves a minimum of two terms, unless they are removed by peer consensus or their own group they represent. There is no limit to Terms they serve, but they must maintain the support of their base to remain in their role. Each group is only allowed a maximum of 3 representatives, as was once set in the White Tower, and no less than 1 member as recognized entities within the city of MERRILOR. MERRILOR originated with a council of 13 and has since grown to 15 to accommodate the diversity of the city. Current Types of Representatives Black Tower (3) White Tower (3) Military of the Dragon (3) Academy of Learning & Research (2) Citizens (2) Merchants (2) Known Members: Head of Council - Maegan Ryanne (Aes Sedai & Academy Representative) (TBD?) With strong, positive connections to half of the groups and with enough vision to see MERRILOR beyond it’s military standpoint, she was the second Head of Council and has maintained the role for now a Third Term. The groups that support her the strongest are the Military, Citizen, and Academy, with most of the Female channelers. Merchants are her greatest opposition. The male channelers tend to swing different ways depending on where they align with the topic at hand. The Male Channelers and Merchants would prefer to have their own Head of Council instead, but neither rarely agree unless in opposition with the female channelers or citizens, or both. No group has another representative with enough support from other groups to challenge Maegan Ryanne at this time, though political maneuvering is always fluctuating. 3 male Channelers The male channelers have not chosen a replacement ‘mHael’ since their former M’hael went mad before the final battle. Unlike any of the other representatives, the male channelers are a true council with titles among themselves only going lower in status and rank, not up. 3 female Channelers Keeping with Tradition, these women are considered “Sitter” in public and within their group, and will often refer to a “Head” or “Amyrlin” within a group despite the merge of the various ajahs. The “Head”/“Amyrlin” is now considered a private/secret among their group instead of a public Leader. This is a decision made among those previously sworn on Oath Rod, and still part of their Tradition to this day. The female channelers consider the “Head”/“Amyrlin” of the same rank as the Head of the Council in Private. 3 Ebony Military Specialists A merged structure of the Band and the Warders of the White Tower, this includes Bannerman, Captains and all various military accommodations depending on the militaries need. 1 Academic Representative These are Academics who are interested in the politics of the Academy and their support of Merrilor’s development who are less likely to be lost in their own personal research. The Academic is often in opposition to Maegan in private, but supportive in public. 2 Citizen Representatives Often one of Nobility and one of Common descent. The Nobility has only changed once due to death. They are trying to gain a second seat within the Council in hopes of gaining a stronger foothold. The Commoner Representative has changed every term without substantial influence. 2 Merchant Representatives The one with the most money in trade is often in this role. It also fluctuates the most of all the council members, much to their internal irritation. Topics of Consideration within the Council Building effort of MERRILOR and the completion of the Spire Expanding the City’s Quarters to include more space for (citizens’ merchants, etc.) How to celebrate the completion of the Serenity Park, and it’s various monuments. Peace accords with Malkier, Andor & Carihien. New borders to draw and remap. - Working with Cartographers Residential Areas requesting more access to the Academy’s Technology for every-day use Training Regime for new channelers The influx of new channelers and the limitations of available teachers and skilled channelers. Military concerns of the Seanchan’s overreach in some of the various nations not protected by Andor. Military concerns on the receding Blight and what as replaced it. Military concerns about the loss of -kandor- and their displaced citizens. Military concerns about the reduced numbers of Aiel. Merchants want more freedom with less fee’s and costs to their own accounts Merchants want more access to military without having to the cost associated Nobility wants more accommodations and lands available, in additions to sanctioned areas around MERRILOR to build their own estates like most other nations with the same access and accommodations as those living within the city proper.

  20. For the past few years, Aeodan preferred the security of the barracks to the open road. It was difficult enough to control his environment with a bunch of unruly trainee’s and their shenanigans let alone the unknown intentions of those that travel from city to city. He did not miss the life he left behind at all, but it certainly never got easier after. He certainly did not go on this journey for the thrill of adventure, but somehow the foolish Brown thought it better to go alone than to consider safety regardless of how harmless to the world she considered herself. Freedom. That’s what she had declared and he scoffed. Freedom was for the poor and worthless. The ones with nothing to lose. Yet, here she was sneaking out with her horse, an overfilled saddle pack with enough food to last a day or two, just like an undignified Initiate. What was he suppose to do? Return to his superiors and say he did nothing? Not even follow? There was no reasoning with the Aes Sedai when they are set in mind. The best he could do was damage control. Which lead him to some of the more concerning news he had overheard while settling their horses for their stay in Jehannah. Their very, VERY short stay. If he could saddle up the horses and leave then and there he would, but the best he could get from her was that night. They were both tired, and the rest was needed. The promise of something… unique. Nothing could keep a Brown from such a mystery. No matter if it was a dead rat painted in gold while it was still stiff as stone. And now he was stuck at the Weeping Willow waiting for her to scratch the bloody itch. Arms crossed, his clothing far more put together than hers, He glared at the Aes Sedai of his bane as she laughed merrily with a few other gentleman at a nearby table. A ale in hand, hair a little wild in its braid and the perfect picture of a commoner. He knew that his was frowning, and even if he tried to smooth his features, the dark thoughts lingered a little too long. Though his facial hair had well overgrown and hair too disheveled to be acceptable in any court, maybe he stood out here, maybe he didn’t. Certainly more than her. Maybe he should find a darker shadow to brood in. She certainly would call it a brooding mood. That thought did NOT help.
  21. Finished up the Setting!! - GO READ IT... 😄 The Ready for Review process has been clarified.

  23. "The lion sword, the dedicated spear, she who sees beyond. Three on the boat, and he who is dead yet lives. The great battle done, but the world not done with battle. The land divided by the return, and the guardians balance the servants. The future teeters on the edge of a blade." - Lord of Chaos, Dreams and Nightmares LIGHT, SHADOW & the DRAGON the setting In the wake of the Final Battle, the Wheel of Time has turned, leaving behind a world irrevocably altered. Twenty-five years have passed since the Dark One's defeat, and the Blight has withdrawn, leaving scars etched deep into the land and its people. Nations have crumbled or risen anew, their borders redrawn by the tumultuous forces of the Return. Merrilor, a city born of both science and the One Power, stands as a beacon of hope and progress amidst the remnants of a fractured world. As the scarred lands heal, awakening echoes resonate—channelers, once scarce, now emerge in unprecedented numbers. The delicate balance of power shifts, and the intricacies of politics and diplomacy dance on a razor's edge. In the aftermath of the final struggle, the scars are not only physical but etched into the very fabric of society. The whispers of prophecy linger, and leaders grapple with the challenge of forging unity from the fragments of a shattered past. The Age of Heroes dawns and the intricate tapestry of the Wheel unravels, revealing both peril and promise. As the wheel turns anew, Merrilor stands at the crossroads, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the undying pursuit of a better future. Yet, shadows of the past linger, and the choices made in these uncertain times will shape the destiny of a world grappling with the echoes of the Last Battle. THE EMERGENCE the light & the dragon In the aftermath of the Last Battle, the Age of Heroes dawns, ushering in an era of tentative peace and unsettling change. The Dragon Peace, a fragile accord forged amidst the ruins of the Final Battle, holds the promise of unity among the forces of the Light. However, as the signatories of the Treaty pass into history, a new generation of visionaries and idealists step forward, each with their ambitions and interpretations of the Dragon's legacy. Merrilor, a pioneering city at the forefront of this new age, stands as a testament to the possibility of unity. A Council, unprecedented in its diversity, convenes within its walls—a tapestry woven from the threads of channelers, Wolfkin, those who followed the Dragon, and the ancient Aes Sedai who remain. This assembly grapples with the delicate balance of peace, striving to uphold the Dragon Peace even as the foundations tremble with the weight of competing ideals. Yet, Merrilor is not alone in its pursuit of renewal. In the north, the Blight retreats, leaving scars on the land and opening new possibilities for exploration and settlement. In the east, hostile lands challenge the resilience of those seeking to expand and reclaim ancient territories. Meanwhile, a power struggle simmers in Andor, threatening to unravel the delicate threads of unity within the Council. In the east, the once-great Malkier rises from the ashes, its King's children taking tentative steps to rebuild their ancestral homeland. The echoes of Malkier's ancient glory resonate with the hopes of a brighter future. As the Council debates the nascent growth of technology, whispers of dissent weave through the chambers, threatening to unravel the tenuous threads that hold the alliance together. The delicate equilibrium is further tested as competing factions strive to reclaim what was lost during the chaos of the Final Battle. In this era of transformation and uncertainty, Merrilor stands as a beacon—a city striving for progress while grappling with the ghosts of the past. The challenge is clear: how to navigate the delicate dance of politics, technology, and tradition, preserving the hard-won peace while ensuring a future that honors the legacy of the Dragon, all against the backdrop of a retreating Blight, hostile lands, and the looming shadow of internal strife within Andor. THE REVERED the shadow In the wake of the Last Battle, the world stands at the threshold of a new era—the Age of Heroes. Victorious but scarred, the forces of Light strive to rebuild, their hopes pinned on the tenuous threads of the Dragon Peace. Yet, as the wheel turns, shadows emerge to challenge the hard-won harmony. In the north, where the Blight once held dominion, a sinister resurgence unfolds. The retreat of the Blight paves the way for a relentless advance of shadowspawn, devouring the remnants of northern nations. The promise of peace is tested, and whispers of the Shadow's return weave through the scarred valleys. The Dragon Peace, a fragile accord born from sacrifice, faces its greatest test. Hidden in plain sight, the Chosen linger, their influence undiminished. Shadowsworn manipulates the strings of power, orchestrating discord among those who unknowingly dance to the Dark One's tune. Amidst these machinations, the burgeoning cities of Merrilor and Cairhien hold secrets entwined with progress and peril. Technology, a double-edged sword, sparks innovation and danger. As the Council in Merrilor, a seemingly unassailable alliance, convenes to shape the future, it becomes a vulnerable target for unseen hands seeking to sow chaos within its ranks. The wheel turns, and the Shadow seizes another chance to tip the balance. The Age of Heroes emerges not only in the light's triumphs but also in the shadows' persistent schemes. Heroes and villains alike navigate a world in flux, where the choices made within the Council chambers and halls of power will determine the fate of the realm. The Dragon Peace hangs in the balance, a delicate equilibrium tested by the encroaching darkness. The Chosen, like lingering specters, wield their influence in the shadows, waiting to shape the destiny of a world caught in the dance between Light and Shadow. THE REMNANTS the legacy saga In the closing chapters of an Age, the legacy of influential figures hangs in the balance, shaping the tapestry of events unfolding in the twilight of the world. The Dragon Reborn, a figure of prophecy and destiny, leaves behind a legacy of sacrifice and triumph that echoes through the turning Wheel. Beside the Dragon, the Aes Sedai, defenders of Light, contribute a legacy of knowledge and wisdom. Their influence, both in healing and wielding the One Power, weaves threads of hope for the ages to come. Alongside them, the Asha'man, a force newly awakened, carve their own legacy in the annals of the Pattern, wielding the Power with newfound strength and purpose. In the fields of Merrilor, the Band of the Red Hand, leaves a legacy of tactical brilliance and camaraderie. Their unwavering loyalty becomes a rallying point against the encroaching darkness, inspiring others to stand against the Shadow. As the Seanchan relentlessly pursue their Return, the chasing battles force nations to make fateful choices—defend their lands or unite for the sake of the world. The legacy of leaders and heroes becomes the fulcrum upon which these decisions teeter, as the Return challenges the very foundations of existence. In the face of such pivotal moments, the legacy of heroes and warriors becomes intertwined with the fate of the world itself. The Wheel turns, and their stories, still untold in the final chapters of this Age, resonate in the hearts of those who bear witness. The Asha'man, the Band of the Red Hand, and the struggles against the Seanchan become integral threads in the intricate tapestry of a world balancing on the edge of transformation.
  24. Since we're in a small flux as we change over to a new timeline, it seems pertinent that I share where all the updates are happening so no one has to chance them down. I do strongly encourage anyone interested in helping to fill out the World Lore, even if it's from our old Legacy Lore, and updating it I would be incredibly grateful. Maybe then I'll have more time to reply to RP posts.. XD Feb 4th: Welcome & Sign-up Thread got a link update GROUPS got an update - White Tower & Black Tower are moved into 'Legacy' status. "Channeler" is the new group to encompass all channelers with the new timeline. I will update all currently approved bio's to "Channeler" from "White Tower" to reflect this. One Power Update Removed the vagueness around the Black Tower's existence (Thanks @Jehlal!) Moved info on Weaves, Talents & Affinities the like to World Lore. I reorganized the Library a little and added in Merrilor for new players looking in, along with the LOOSE timeline. Re-Added rule about One Power Items to Biography Writing. If the organization seems weird to you, speak up. I move things around enough as I go that sometimes I forget the logic of where I put things in the first place. 🙂
  25. Opening this up for those of us who might be interested in renewing a few old favorites. 🙂 Maegan's obviously on my list, since she's one of the few that actually thought ahead in what her goals were. Irony there.
