  1.

Rand has not heard the phrase, "embrace death" after staying pretty much with Aiel for the last 2 years? That would be quite a stretch considering that is a common phrase among the Aiel.

We know she is not a hero because she does not show up when the Heros are summoned.Simple.Neither is LPD from the AOL AFAIK. And her life mirrored LTT. I know it is difficult for you to hear this but Egwene is a normal thread a normal soul. Her soul was never the equal of Rand's nor of any of the other heros.

As for tugs from Rand, Perrin and Mat got them all the time and neither 2 of them are heros.I would say that is just a matter of the Tavern influence of Rand manifesting itself. If he needs something the pattern nudges that along.Similar to Verin when she ways she was "led: by something towards Mat.

    1. You don't have to be a Hero of the Horn to be a hero.  There is a DIFFERENCE

    2. Heroes of the Horn have MANY incarnations.  Like Birgitte.  I doubt myself that Egwene is a hero of the horn but your outright dismissal of her accomplishments irks me enough that I have to point out the flaws in your statements.  Rand al'Thor himself was called Lews Therin by Artur himself, and the only thing similar about the Rand and Lews Therin in appearance was their height (as Lanfear mentions in TSR).  As such she could easily be one of the female heroes of the horn... and that Mat didn't recognize her for whatever reason.

    3. Mat himself could have earned a place as a Hero of the Horn many times over for his deeds as was mentioned in AMoL.  But he is still NOT a Hero of the Horn.  I'd say that his soul is worth just as much as any Hero of the Horn.  Why can't the same be said of Egwene?  You can't say that just because Egwene is not a Hero of the Horn that she is not an equal to any of them.

  2. I meant prepared to fight channelers in battle not the ocassional man they need to gentle. If they do how did they show up to battle in skirts they can't move fast in?

Do they work out physically, do any of them know how to fight with their hands,do any of them know how to use any weapons other weilding the OP? How do they ride horses, sideways I assume wearing a skirt. How can you fight like that or even ride fast?

They show none of the characteristics of a organization tuned to fight battles on a mega scale.

They can move fast by picking up their skirts and running.  Moiraine did it in New Spring.  And you can ride normally with a skirt - you don't have to ride side-saddle.  And if you have the OP, you don't really need weapons, do you?  Even if Mat's medallion prevented weaves being thrown directly at him, you could still throw other things with the OP, or blast the ground beneath that person's feet....

I don't see the need to quibble about skirts as showing that an organization is completely unprepared for the LB because it really isn't important.  The AS kicked butt in Kandor until the Sharans arrived and even then at the FoM they held out quite well considering they were completely outnumbered, and with Egwene's help even managed to drive them back until the balefire fiasco.

  3.

They are a failed institution that wasn't properly preprared. I mean we know there are individual sisters up patrolling the blight. We know they have apparently been studying old strategies and practice dueling in training. Problem being we get to see very little of this in the actual series.

What type of preparation is not even having a proper dress for battle?

    Battle: 101

Kind of moot when you don't really have to move a lot compared to a swordsman and you can fling fireballs from a large distance.

  4.

While I agree with most of your points, I would say that there are a few more examples of this:

Can you show me the PoV of someone she treated "badly" who thinks she actually does so, and does so out of spite? One person?

I know its been debated on here a lot, but a lot of people think she treats Nyneave pretty badly in that scene in TAR where she has Nyn chased by thugs.  Additionally, I would argue that she treats Gawyn, some of the Aes Sedai, and Rand with a complete lack of respect, which I would say fits under the envelope of treating them badly.  True, Rand doesn't treat her with much respect either, but that just means they both treat each other badly, not that they cancel out each other's bad behaviour.

Rand does not need to defer to anyone .He is the Dragon.Egwene forgets her place many times in the book.

As he said in AMOL,Egwene just has the title of the watcher of seals.she does not have them. She lost them too bad.He need not even have let her know before breaking the seals, she would be none the wiser.I really wished to see how Egwene would have stopped Rand from breaking the seals as she treatens if  Moraine had not showed up.

She did not lose the seals.  Rand lost them.  And seriously?  He need not have let her or anyone know?  Just because he is the prophesized saviour doesn't mean he's going to save the world by doing shit, which includes doing the right thing at the wrong time.  And she was right in trying to prevent him from doing it at the time.

And Rand is not defering to her in giving her position or title a measure of respect.  You don't earn the respect of a subordinate by treating them like shit anyway.

  5. ou were taught that every sentence must begin with a capital letter, and so you accept and comply...whereas I question, revise and improve.

Ah yes. I see. So by your reasoning we should accept these so-called typos as revisions and improvements on the spellings of the words and slam your criticism of them as being like "an aes sedai who upholds stupid traditions such as deciding rank based on strength in the power, for better or worse simply because thats the way its always been done".

    EPIC.FAIL.PERIOD.

Maybe some of your friends will show up to save you.

  6. hum ok, I stand corrected (at least about the contrived sexual elements, tho I swear they appeared late?) but there's still no excuse for so many typos making it to final versions. and if you can't see that the series was milked and elongated unnaturally in order to make more money then I say to you, your naivety is endearing :P

And if you can't see that Robert Jordan was a writer with a natural gift with stretching out his words and his phrases without external pressure, then I say to you that your estimation of other people's abilities falls far short of what people can sometimes actually be capable of. Your cynicism is beyond excessive.

  7. As for Elayne, I hear you. What bothers me to no end is, how this girl has thrown her realm into total and utter chaos. One only has to see what Andor's been through since she took over, to see the MAJOR failure that the girl's been as a queen. So, maybe some readers may like her and that's cool. But I for one, would hate to be "average Joe" from Andor during her reign. I'd be shouting, "somebody bring back the Dragon and his Aiel. Pleeaaasee!" lol!

Whether or not Elayne decided to claim the throne in her own right or not, the realm would have already fallen into civil war or worse.

Had Elayne claimed the throne from under Rand's authority instead of in her own right, Elayne would have met resistance from the Andorans. You are neglecting the fact that Andoran's themselves are extremely proud people and MOST think that Rand is an invader and should be driven out. You are neglecting the fact that many of the houses would have not supported Elayne had she not claimed the throne in her own right, thinking her a puppet of the Dragon Reborn. You are assuming that the Andorans would have bowed their heads and let things be, forgetting that Andorans, especially those in Caemlyn, would have voiced their displeasure, and this would have destablized her rule.

Had Elayne NOT made her bid to claim the throne, things would possibly have been worse. Dyelin would have claimed the throne instead, and there would still have been civil war. Even had Dyelin decided NOT to claim the throne, Arymillia would have taken the throne, and she IS a fool, unlike Elayne. Arymillia is obsessed with her own rank and title. Elayne isn't. What Elayne is doing is for the good of Andor, to save it from the fool Arymillia. You are thus ignoring the fact that had Elayne decided not to claim the throne, a fool might have gotten it instead, who would have squandered Andor's wealth and prosperity without a care for the last battle. You are thus ignoring the fact that the civil war would have occured whether or not Elayne decided to step up to claim the throne, and thus the civil war is not her fault.

You are also ignoring the fact that the civil war WAS NOT HER FAULT. Her actions DID NOT cause such instability. The instability already WAS PRESENT AT THAT TIME and there was literally NOTHING Elayne could have done to defuse it without civil war. If you want to aproportion blame, blame Arymillia, who stood in Elayne's way despite the traditional mother-daughter succession. Blame Rahvin, who sowed chaos in Morgase's name and removed many of Elayne's supporters.

You are blaming the civil war ENTIRELY on Elayne without proper justification, without considering what else would have happened had Elayne decided not to claim the throne. You apparently do not know the Andorans, judging from your comment, saying that if you were Andoran, you would want Rand and the Aiel back. You do not understand why Elayne had to do as she had done. You are blaming her for a civil war that was already brewing without her help. You are assuming that Elayne is all powerful and able to stop rebellions with a wave of her hand. You are assuming that her position was firm and unshakable. You are assuming that the nobles obey the one who sits on the Lion Throne without question. You are assuming she caused the instability that led to the rebellion.

    That is wrong.

  8. Hi everyone.

Sorry but I seriously do not have stamina to continue rping on DM for the foreseeable future. I will be hanging around on the ooc side though. So I won't really disappear altogether from DM.

    Regards,

    Arani

  9. In return to 'appologist twaddle', I think your position is 'Mummy she was so mean to my hero!'

I don't care if Cadsuane hurt Rand's feelings. She did what was right, and it worked. You can't much get around that.

No my position is she was, is, and always will be irredeemably stoooooooooooopid.

Now I accept that if the characters do not act stupidly, there is no conflict, no tension, and no story. But, there quite simply is far too much stupidity in this series as is. By the time Cadsuane Melaidhrin shows up there are already at least 4372 named charaters acting very stupidly. There simply is no room left for the excessive stupidity of Cadsuane. DIE Cadsuane DIE! Preferably yesterday.

Oh I'm so sure she is. Do give examples please. Like, when she forced Rand to prevent himself from virtually committing suicide and killing Nynaeve in the process when he made the decision to cleanse the Source with the Choedan Kal without any help at all.... Cadsuane forcing him to accept her help and that of other people was inevitably so "irredeemably stoooooooooooopid" that it of course ensured his survival and being able to continue to fight for the Light instead of being blasted out of thin air by the attacking Forsaken.

  10. Wilemi smiled slightly at the compliment. It was rare that she was praised, quiet as she was. She did not mind not being praised, but she liked someone to do so every now and then. Wilemi listened to Carina's words, trying and, apparently, failing to conceal her incredulity at there being people who did not want to know more about the world and the people about them. But as she considered the attitude of people to the White Tower, the more she felt that the world, being mistrustful in general about the White Tower, even if they did rever it, also did not trust whatever the White Tower did. Although the White Tower had done much good in the world, for example, reminding them of the dangers of the Shadow, there was, in her opinion, much to be done still. Carina Sedai then stood up and sent for tea before continuing. Wilemi listened intently, trying to pick out information that would be useful later on.

So as she sat, listening to Carina, undoing the bun of hair on her head because her scalp was starting to itch, she partially hid her eyes as she went through what Carina had said. Finally, when Carina finished, Wilemi shook her mind to clear itself slightly, and went through what Carina had said again. There was something in her speech that made her pause and think for a moment. Finally, when the novice Carina had sent for tea had returned and left with a curtsy, Wilemi said slowly. "Carina Sedai, although I agree with much of what you said, there is much that the common people can learn from us. Like, for example, history. We have some of the best historical records the world has in this age. We perhaps, could prevent more wars by educating the people about such things. It would be better, in my opinion, for people to know their own mistakes so that they won't make such mistakes so easily. It would help in lessening conflicts over the years. People shouldn't just rely on Aes Sedai to stop them when they go too far. The prevention of war by the people I think, is better in the long run than Aes Sedai running around trying to defuse tensions instead."

"After all, Carina Sedai, some of the facts that are taught," Wilemi went on, her voice lowered so that people outside would not hear, "imply that Aes Sedai cannot be everywhere at once, as Aes Sedai could not prevent the outbreak of war many times. As such, we might not be able to prevent a war before it starts. Would it not be better for the common people not to make such mistakes so that Aes Sedai would not be so pressured to defuse tensions around the land?"

"That," Wilemi said, looking at Carina, "is my take on the matter, Carina Sedai."

  11. Sorry to interupt, but I've got Nenen Kailadel and Nesyer Kailadel as Accepted too. :). Lor, watch out for a post in the Defensive Weave's thread, I'm going to post there. And I need someone who can help complete my Advanced Saidar thread for Nesyer (I've only one post left to do.)

  12. (OOC: Sorry this sucks. This is my first RP post in quite a while.)

Wilemi listened carefully to what Carina was saying, drinking in every word, committing to memory the day she had plucked up enough courage to ask a sister about the Ajah she had so admired since her arrival at the tower, and the Ajah that had been the top of her aspirations as a novice and Accepted. She understood the dangers of experimentation, or thought she did, but she kept the warning at close hand in case she would be tempted to try it. She, of course, did not want to be burnt out, left an empty shell, a shade of what she once had been and what even less of what she could have been. Wilemi decided to wait until she became Aes Sedai, and instructed in such Aes Sedai methods before she did anything hazardous and untoward. If she wanted to help the people, she would have to help herself first, by being more thoughtful and less impulsive, although impulsive was not exactly a word that you could use to describe anyone like Wilemi.

But Wilemi also wanted to ask something. Something important and pertinent to her. “Carina Sedai, if our duty is to arm the world with knowledge, besides keeping the world’s greatest library, should we not also help to educate the world with such knowledge? What is the use of arming the world with knowledge if the world does not have the knowledge, or even the knowledge of the existance of such knowledge. Might we not help the world better if some of us went out to help the world, with the aid of some of the other Ajahs?”

  13. I think that Entering the Dream and Travelling are two entirely seperate things. I have the impression that Entering the Dream is a weave that allows the a person to enter the dream while sleeping.

And Travelling is much more difficult for women because women are inherently weaker than men. At least, that is what I think.

  14. *Huge Fanfare*
