Writing in an RP has always been tough to get off the ground until people who are really good at *starting* actual RP come around. I'm great at collecting and recording and disseminating information, so that's what I like doing (and do!), and I like seeing people write--but coming up with RPs people can jump into isn't my strong suite. I know I came up with a Seanchan house idea a while ago, but alas, without players, there is no one to jump on board with it. ^^"

I would say, "Well, I don't like the Amazon show because it didn't give us the influx of players we were hoping for!" but I don't think that's what you meant 😄

Itmight not seem like much is going on at the moment in terms of the RP New Beginning, we do have a couple of active players! And anyone can start a Campaign, their own story/world/scenario if they wish, and they can run that from the campaign board! There are really no rules there and you can make your own to suit what you want going on 🙂

I moved the main information thread for RP New Beginning to its main board here so it's easier to find and get started with that, should you so wish!

I've also edited the starting post on this thread to have the relevant information and be more clear, so please do give it a read. 🙂

If I can ask, I cant' really tell what or when or where this RP idea takes place, can you add more detail?

Oh, thanks for the reply! 😄 Could be fun, especially I was thinking--we could do both short-term and long-term RPs, just have a house there when people want to engage with it. I hope some more people get interested in joining the RP forum itself though as "the more the merrier!" XD

@Cass Yes, I play D&D 5e! (and before that I played 3.5)  However I have not done play-by-post with mechanics, and I'm assuming you mean tabletops mechanics while posting?

When I first joined DM way back in .... 2000? 2001? RP was all I was interested in! For a time I even ran my own WoT RP site, called Patterns of Time. I also RPed on Lavender Eyes, a Drizzt Do'Urden/ Forgotten Realms site that had a great RP forum for a time.

I still RP, but not in a traditional sense: I am often on Second Life!

I was musing today about how this RP could potentially really open the world up towards the beginning of the Wheel of Time story, especially in regards to conflict with the Seanchan. In the books, whispers of people arriving from the other side of the Aryth Ocean start occurring at the beginning of book 2. In the grand scheme of things, this is pretty early on! And we know the Seanchan are already going to be a force to be reckoned with.

I'm going to be bringing in a group of NPCs that are all set in the same house, House Elioth. As I was thinking about this, I wonder if we in our RP shouldn't introduce the Seanchan a little sooner--have them arrive before the Dragon begins his journey (before he is found, that is--as our RP begins about 5 years before that point). If we have them arrive before, we can plant a noble house at Falme already!

What do others think?

Hm! It's definitely intriguing! We can keep that she did this at least once, earning a not-so-good reputation. I'm sure it might be assumed by other sisters she will not do it again. Though, if she did do it anyway, she could get into serious trouble, if this was something she just decided to do on her own.

In that vein, it might be worth considering how hard it is to get rid of years and years of conditioning she had as a novice and Accepted, where "custom is as strong as law." And I imagine Greens probably have all sorts of special Warder rules of their own. But in the end, it really depends on her personality (and if you're opening to her habit to being discovered and the eventual consequences of that!)

So in the end I think I will go with what you decide as it could make for potentially interesting RP arcs (or in the least, her interesting reputation!).

My understanding, but correct me if I'm wrong, is that Tower custom (law? I think just custom) is that a Warder bonds for life. I am unsure how to feel about a potential change to this canon, but perhaps no one knows about her plan to do that yet?

Are these all characters you wish to submit bios for or you already have bios for them somewhere and you're bringing them back?

Our RP basically starts on Winternight, and so as time moves forward any big events that happen (for example, if we want Logain's army to be a thing) news can start spreading about that. I'm not sure how quick or if at all Trollocs attacking a tiny village might get out and be known, but we can certainly get together and decide.

If there is a time/date that works for people, let me know. Weekends are best for me -- well, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.

NPC Bios

Tower NPCs will have short biographies so players can quickly get the information they may need or want. Each bio format is the same as you would find in the tWoT Companion.

Sanian Eguilera - Sanian came from a small family and small town in Tear. She has semi long brown hair often worn in a piled-up style and dark eyes.

With a strength of 15(3), she was one of the more powerful sisters and was known to have a great mind for diplomacy and dedication. Raised to the Blue Ajah in 960 NE, she was raised Amyrlin Seat in 980 NE. Though rather young for the job and a fairly new Aes Sedai as well, she was elected such because the previous two Amyrlins and several older Aes Sedai had been mysteriously murdered in the two years leading up to her election. Thus the Hall elected someone who did not leave the Tower, was young and was trusted within her Ajah and was well known outside of it. Sanian is firm and does not let the Hall control her, but does her best to work with them. However, not all trust her or her council due to her age and stubbornness.

Belina Matoun - Saldaean Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah. She has a hooked nose, dark reddish-brown hair and tilted green eyes, and is a little taller than average. Raised Keeper of the Chronicles in 980 NE, Belina was elected from the Blue when Sanian was raised Amyrlin. She was raised Aes Sedai in 958 NE and has a OP strength of 16(4). Belina was well known for her organizational skills and, within her Ajah, was known to work with the Eyes-and-Ears network. She is said to enjoy her clerical role and is a great asset to Sanian.

I'm not sure this will be quite a thing, simply because, as of right now, we're not expecting PCs to interact with the "Primaries" at all. Preferably not until we can build a good storyline and have a couple people play those NPCs for the purpose of interacting with NPCs. But it would probably need to be a major thread, involving several parties. And of course, think about the potential consequences of your Darkfriend's failure, too... ?

That would be fine with me as long as players submit 2 bios--one public, one private in an IM to the relevant staff. But I would also welcome more opinions before any final decisions are made.

Do you mean keeping their identities secret? So even other players won't know?
