I've been wondering if the crystal that Mat takes off the dead Aiel plays a part in the Eye.  Perhaps, it is a Jenn Aiel "key" to the Eye that unlocks a special dragon-mode for the eye.   Assuming they want to keep Moiraine's previous trip to it and rid themselves of the "need" factor.

I'm not really sure what they intend to do with the Eye though.   Mostly, I think that crystal is a chekov's gun waiting to be fired.

Interesting, the Eye chamber is lit with glowing crystals

    Quote

As he looked around in wonder, he realized that the long years since the making-three thousand of them-had worked their way while no one came. Not all the crystals in the dome glowed with the same intensity. Some were stronger, some weaker; some flickered, and others were only faceted lumps to sparkle in a captured light. Had all shone, the dome would have been as bright as noonday, but they made it only late afternoon, now. Dust coated the walkway, and bits of stone and even crystal. Long years waiting, while the Wheel turned and ground.

  2. I'm pouring over the Dark Prophecy but I don't see anything that the "Blood Calls Blood" title could be referencing. Is it just referring to the violent presence of Perrin/Whitecloaks among the tinkers? Perhaps the writers just thought it sounded cool. Surely Lanfear isn't already making appearances, right?

    Spoiler

Daughter of the Night, she walks again. The ancient war, she yet fights. Her new lover she seeks, who shall serve her and die, yet serve still. Who shall stand against her coming? The Shining Walls shall kneel. Blood feeds blood. Blood calls blood. Blood is, and blood was, and blood shall ever be."

"The man who channels stands alone. He gives his friends for sacrifice. Two roads before him, one to death beyond dying, one to life eternal. Which will he choose? Which will he choose? What hand shelters? What hand slays? Blood feeds blood. Blood calls blood. Blood is, and blood was, and blood shall ever be."

"Luc came to the Mountains of Dhoom. Isam waited in the high passes. The hunt is now begun. The Shadow's hounds now course, and kill. One did live, and one did die, but both are. The Time of Change has come. Blood feeds blood. Blood calls blood. Blood is, and blood was, and blood shall ever be."

"The Watchers wait on Toman's Head. The seed of the Hammer burns the ancient tree. Death shall sow, and summer burn, before the Great Lord comes. Death shall reap, and bodies fail, before the Great Lord comes. Again the seed slays ancient wrong, before the Great Lord comes. Now the Great Lord comes. Now the Great Lord comes. Blood feeds blood. Blood calls blood. Blood is, and blood was, and blood shall ever be. Now the Great Lord comes."

Verin had a book where she recorded all of the shadow's prophecies that she could find. As far as we know, this particular prophecy is not known before the raid on Fal Dara, but maybe the prophecies will be brought up by a sister in the White Tower in this episode. That would be pretty fun wouldn't it?

  3. Will Mat go with the rest of the party into the Ways? I've read rumors that Barney Harris isn't in the last two episodes, but he's there in the press pics in front of the Waygate

Edit: Nevermind. According to IMDB he is appearing in all 8 episodes.

Also, according to this, the actor for Lews Therin appears in episode 8 ? Very interesting, that!

  4. BRANDON FROM MISSION VIEJO

Mr. Jordan, It's fairly common knowledge that the Dark One was bound by the Creator outside of the Pattern at the moment of creation. Would it then be safe to assume, after concepts brought to light in the new release, that the world before the opening of the prison never knew true evil? If so, then was each age before the opening of the Age of Legends different facets of some utopia? As well, without major conflict between good and evil, what caused ages to pass? Thanks.

    ROBERT JORDAN

Given that time is cyclic, you must assume that there is a time when the prison that holds the Dark One is whole and unbroken. There is a time when a hole is drilled into that prison and it is thus open to that degree. And there is a time when the opening has been patched in a make-shift manner. But following this line the cyclic nature of time means that we have at some time in the future inevitably a whole and unbroken prison again. Unless of course, the Dark One breaks free in which case all bets are off, kick over the table and run for the window.

The first three episodes amply demonstrate that the writers have made (ahem) a LOT of deviations from the source material, leading to some interesting debates and predictions. In this thread, we lay our markers down. I can't make a poll big enough for this, so please record your answers for posterity by posting them in this thread. Whomever gets the most picks right will win a trip to Prague and an Ed Sheeran-esque cameo in the show!* Make sure to get your picks in quick just in case Episode 4 provides any answers!

      • We'll see it but not in Season 1.
      • Sorry, not gonna happen. "Gender" is, like, soooo outdated.

      • Yes.
      • No.
    4. Will we get an "I'm going to be Aes Sedai!" or "You can be my warder, Rand!" silly-girl moment from Eg?

      • This already happened, and we'll see it in a flashback.
      • Rand hasn't learned this yet.

    * I have zero authority to promise this, but I'm sure Rafe will come through.

  6. Some interesting things going on with the lad in the first few episodes. Rand has a dark look on his face when Tam talks about past lives.

He shifts and looks around uncomfortably when Thom sings:

"I can still hear the way that he cried
For the ones he was missing

I can still hear the way that he cried
For the ones he had lost"

There's something bubbling underneath the surface, something he may not even be conscious of

Now my really big gripe, Fain has still not had his story told, I really hope that in the next episode or at most 2 we get a long 20min flashback of what he has been doing, him with the Trollocs chasing the runaways and then entering Shadar Logath. It is getting to the point where he will have been out of the story too long, or will just appear and with a throwaway line explain what he was doing.

We "saw" him (or heard him, rather) in Shadar Logoth in Episode 2. A lot of people probably missed it, but he is definitely there.

In the book his real story isn't told until he shows up at Fal Dara
