  1. I've been percolating on this one for a couple of days. The past year has not impacted me the way it has many others, and I carry a bit of guilt for it. Granted, I recognize it is ridiculous, and I do keep it in check, but it doesn't change the fact I still feel it sometimes. I spent a lot of time last year feeling like I need to give back somehow, because so much was given to me, but taken away from others. And since COVID limits in-person things, it was difficult for me to find ways to balance this within myself. So I decided to support as many local businesses as I could by buying local, as well as donating what I could to fundraisers and to those needing help.

Emotional support has been more difficult, as I have been feeling a bit empty in that department for awhile now. My role in life has always been being there for others, providing support and encouragement. I'm a positive person, and have a way of finding the words/actions a person needs to help them along their way. Unfortunately, I don't really have that in return, and with some significant family stuff happening since last summer, what is going out exceeds what is coming in. I will say it has gotten better the last couple of months, however, I am still working to replenish what has been given. Regardless of all this, though, I still give all I can to help others see the silver lining that is indeed there.

For everyone: from now until the end of the year, make a pact with yourself. Promise that you will take a moment to step outside, close your eyes, and deeply breathe in the air. As you do, take in what you smell, what you feel on your skin, and what you hear around you. Hold that breath for a moment, reflecting on those things. As you exhale, relax all your muscles, letting the tension drain away. Open your eyes, and look at the world's beauty for what it is. The vibrancy of the colors, the movement of the wind. Do this every day. I'd be willing to bet that by the end of the year (most likely much sooner), you'll look within and find a peace, a balance, in your soul.

  2. I have so many things that light up my life: feeling the wind on my face as the horse beneath me gallops across the arena; hearing the gentle slaps of waves on my thighs as I wade fish for that trout; smelling the salt air as I wiggle my toes in the cool sands of the beach; tasting that first sip of orange spiced coffee as the rays of the morning sun kiss my face; seeing the face of the one I love above all others.

The energies of nature, the Universe, and love is what makes the world brighter for me.

  3. OMG I love this!! You two have outdone yourselves! I could hang here for an eternity! “Heart of the People”. How lovely...my heart is beaming!

    Merry Christmas!!

  4. I'm definitely a Book Blue, though I would say with a significant Green streak. I jokingly say I'd be a scandalous Blue because I'd have multiple Warders, and share many of the same qualities as the Greens. I also have a strong connection to the Browns and Gray, as I am both a learner/researcher and mediator/diplomat. I chose Blue, because I think the affinity I have for the Greens, Browns, and Whites can all serve me as a Blue.

But if I had to choose two, it would be Blue and Green.

  5. I do think readers will have to navigate the differences between the two more, but I don't think it'll change the tone much. I see it as opportunity for non-readers to grow their knowledge, as well as readers to expand the way they see things. I think it's going to make for some really great discussions. I know I personally enjoy chatting about the differences between book and show, and understanding why the creative process has to be different when adapting. Plus, I also enjoy hearing how others interpret what they watch, and compare it to my own interpretation from what I've both read and watched. I can't WAIT!

PS: Does anyone else think of wontons when they see WoTonPrime?

  6. 1 hour ago, Elgee said:

My real name is Laura-Gene, but because it drives me absolutely crazy when people immediately shorten that to Laura, I started calling myself LG (long before Goldstar changed their name to LG, btw).

One day a lady phoned me at work and when I said my name is LG, she asked how do I spell that.

    I said "LG".

She asked "yes, but how do you spell that?"

    I replied, "L .... G".

The lady, clearly exasperated by my dimness, asked "do you spell it E L G E E??"

I said ".... yeah let's go with that."

And that's why I'm Elgee everywhere.

    That is FUNNY.

  7. Phaedra came from the Kushiel book series by Jacqueline Carey. I've always loved the name in general, and the book series reminded me how much I loved the name. I started playing Elvenar earlier this year, and decided to name my elf character Phaedra Stargazer, as I wanted a celestial theme to my city and person. (My city is called Asteri La Fleur).

Anyway, I don't mind sharing my real name (which is Monica), and debated using my name or not here on DM. Ultimately, I thought it would be fun to have a handle again (haven't used one since the 90's when I was discovering Internet Talkers....remember those?! Foothills was my FAV), so I decided to go with a handle ☺️
