  1. He grinned at her, and she could tell he was deep in thought. Smiling, she tried to read his mind. He looked at her, almost laughing, and answered the unspoken question. "Tell you what then. How about I cover your shift for you tomorrow and you go spend the day shopping and enjoying yourself." Shopping? She hadnt done that in so long! And now, she was shopping to go out with him. She couldnt help the giggle that escaped.

“Really? Oh, Shawn, thank you so much!†She was grinning happily, and smiling, and she couldnt stop the quick peck that went to his lips. “I cant wait! A real date!†He laughed, half at her, half at himself. She just kept laughing, and wrapped her arms around his. She snuggled herself closer him, then burst again. “And shopping! I’m going shopping! Thank you!†He laughed at her, and she kissed him softly and sensually. His arms tightened around her, and she enjoyed it, the first real kiss they had shared since she had been raised.

“Thank you,†was all she said as they pulled away from eachother. They held eachother for a moment, their eyes holding together. She didnt know what the feeling was she felt at that moment, but sitting on his lap, in his arms, in his warmth and protection, she felt perfect, like nothing could ever go wrong.

They still had a problem, however. They hadnt decided who would sleep where, or anything. She was dressed for bed, but he was not. They also had two beds, neither chosen for either, but both were large enough to hold at least two people. He had asked her what bed was hers, but she had left it as an option to him on who slept where. “I’m rather tired... why don’t we get some sleep, cause you have guard duty tomorrow, and I have shopping to do... and I bet we will be tired out.†She smiled at him, hoping he wouldnt let her go.

  2. Braxton was doing well in his training, and while trouble had found him every once in a while, and she hadnt been able to spend as much time teaching the young fool as she wanted, he was doing well. But, training was hard on the poor trainees, and now, two weeks before midsummer’s day, it was time for him to face reality and leave the safeguard walls that the training yards and the White Tower put around then. It was time for him to learn survival. Deneira alread had it figured out. She would take him into Braem woods, as if going to Caemlyn. She would tell him that she was being sent with a message to the Captain of the Guard to the Queen, and that she wanted to take him along with her, to learn. He had jumped upon the idea, and she was glad. They would travel from dawn to dusk, and she would teach him all she knew. That night, he would put his learning into effect at their camp. When he slept, she would leave him there, and go a few days ahead, so that in three or four days, depending on whether or not he went the right direction, she would await him. She hoped that he wouldnt get lost, though.

She awoke him at dawn on the day they were leaving, and led him to the stable that held their horses. She had two packs, one for them each, and they were going to ride hard and fast until midmorning. He had tried to sleep a little longer, but a bucket of icy water had convinced him that it was time to get up. They left the city, with plans on returning just in time for MidSummer’s Day. They rode hard, and his eyes kept awake as they rode into a wood that held no sign of civilization. Midmorning came, and they stopped for a few minutes to eat a midmorning brunch of cheese, bread, a fruit each, and water.

Pointing out a vine that grew up a tree, she spoke. “That is poisonous, so I suggest you not touch it. But if you look at those herbs right there-“ she pointed to a small plant growing under another tree, “-are very good on any poisonous plants that may rash your skin. Mix it with water after you crush it, and put it on your wounds as a pultice.†He nodded. “You can eat anything as long as it is cooked, but not every animal is safe. Any thing that has bright colors, like some snakes or some toads, are poisonous, so the idea of staying away is what I suggest.†He nodded. “Any questions so far?â€

  3. He stopped at her words, looking at her for a moment. She still remembered their first night together, when he told her that he would not sleep with her because she was better than that. She could remember every word of it, and slowly, she was getting it. She would never be whole unless she loved instead of lusted. She was better than a touch and go, and she, in his eyes, deserved more. And if he wanted her still, she would let him have her. He was the only one that understood her.

"Anything I ask? Well, what if I ask you to join me on a date? A real date, with dinner and dancing and nice clothes. Would you accept such an offer?" A date? Like, a real one? She had never been on a real date. Well, yes, she had gone to dinner, but it always ended up in someone’s bed, and she had just worn regular clothes. A real date... she couldnt believe it.

Her head nodded, and she smiled at him. “A real date? You must promise to bathe first!†They both laughed, and when silence came to them again, his eyes held hers, a certain softness in them. “I would love to go on a date with you, but I fear I have nothing to wear.†He smiled at her, and she smiled back. This was almost a game of stones. They were both making moves, some dangerous, and some safe. It was hard to tell who would end up where, and whether or not they would win the game they were playing with eachother, the same goal in mind.

  4. He spoke up, stumbling over his words. He seemed scared to talk to an Aes Sedai, or perhaps he was just shy. "Umm, My name is Jagg and my mentor is Corwin. I hope he doesn't get mad at me for helping you out to day Aes Sedai." No matter how he felt about her, he was most certainly nervous. Corwin? Corwin was his mentor? She could still remember the day she had awoken with him in his rooms... perhaps he still remembered her fondly on occasion, because she knew that Sirayn did not hold that day in favor.

Smiling, she walked closer to him, so that she could keep her cough-worn throat from having to speak up. “Corwin is a friend of mine from the past, and I am more than certain that if I speak to him, you shall be excused from any punishment. And remember, you are supposed to serve Aes Sedai, and our rule is higher than that of even your mentor.â€

He nodded, and she saw the shop she needed. “Well, Jagg, this is where I need your help. As for a syrup or vial of antidote that will take away a very horrid cold. Coughing, yes. Sneezing, yes. Headache, yes. Now, go boy!†She pushed him toward the Apothecary, and walked into a nearby shop, watching him through the windows.

  5. His arms tightened around her, and she almost gasped a sigh of relief. He had missed her too. She had been hoping that he still wanted to be with her, but she didnt know, since they hadnt talked. He pulled away slowly, and she felt his finger under her eye, whiping away first one, and then another tear. Their eyes held each other as his finger moved to the other eye, whiping away those now. He softly spoke, and her heart melted again. "I've missed you as well Dene. I had no idea when you left how little we'd see each other till now. I've missed you terribly."

He looked around, and Deneira crossed her arms over her chest while he looked around. He messed with a few things, and she watched. She knew what he was doing- it was only instinct to check his weapons. She did it too, every time she returned to her room. “You know how it is." She nodded her head, and he walked back to her, wrapping her up in his arms. He pulled her to the nearest bed and sat down, pulling her with him. She set her head on his shoulder, and wrapped her arms around his, enjoying the feeling in his arms. "So, which bed is mine, this one or the other?"

Oh, how she wanted to tell him the truth. Light, if only she could. But, he would probably be turned away, so she held back, and smiled softly as she looked up and into his eyes. “Well, usually, I just pass out on whatever bed I get to first, but it is up to you.†She had to bite her tongue to keep from telling him that she wanted to share the bed. She didnt need sex, as much as she longed for it with him, but she wanted to be wrapped up in his arms, and never leave them. She wanted to wake up in the morning, still feeling him there. She wanted to keep the feeling of him with her there forever.

But at the same time, she was scared. She wanted to run away and hide. The feelings she felt, and the want and need that were so new to her. She still wanted him sexually, but she wanted to know what he was thinking, she wanted to hear him talk, she wanted to know what his heart longed for, and she wanted to know how he felt about her. She wanted to be with him forever, and if they never had sex, she would be fine because she would be with him. Never before had she felt that. It was all so new, and so... scary.

Burying her face back into his shoulder, she softly whispered, “I trust you. Whatever you want to do, I am fine with. Ask of it, and it is yours.†Where had that last one come from? She would give him anything? That was basically what she had said. “As long as you are here, I am fine.†And where had that come from? She couldnt admit it to herself, but she knew. It was coming from her heart.

  6. Deneira’s heart was pounding, and she started shaking any time she tried to stand up. She didnt know what had over come her, but since she had found out a few days earlier that Shawn was getting raised and he would be in her room, she was shaky and excited and nervous about everything. She had started cleaning her room, and was trying to make everything perfect. The room was a lot larger than before, and she had enjoyed it. There was two beds, both large enough for two people, and they were on connecting walls, at an angle. A fireplace stood opposite, and a door was at the foot of one of the beds. The other bed, there was a window above it, and a closet at the foot. Along the two bare walls, there was a desk and a dresser. She had spread her few items out and about the room carelessly, as she had immediately been thrown into training. Her father’s books were in a small pile on her desk, and her few clothes were hung up in the closet. Both of her weapons were on the weapon rack by the door, and at the dresser, only a necklace and her hairbrush and hairties occupied it. She never really had time to be a girl, which was something she regretted.

After getting off of watch, she had dashed back to her room. She washed quickly, and then got into her best clothes, or at least, the best on her. The pants were loose, but tight across her buttox, and about halfway down her leg. She wore only a short sleeved shirt on the top. Her feet were bare, and her hair was left untied and loose in curly waves down her back. It had been two months since she had seen Shawn and actually talked to him, and now, they were being reunited. It felt like it had been years since she had talked to him, but it had not even been half a year. But she was different now. She was completely different now. Yes, she still liked to laugh, and she enjoyed a male’s company every now and then, but she no longer slept around, and she enjoyed getting to know people before they went to bed. Perhaps that was what Shawn had meant those few months before, the first time he had turned her down for anything more than friendship. They hadnt talked of it since then, but she was willing to try again, and she hoped he would accept her.

She waited, the room illuminated by the many candles around the room and the fireplace that was bursting with light and heat. She sat there waiting, and he didnt come. She layed back on the bed, relaxing, waiting. Her eyes were shut when she heard the door open, and then close. Sitting up, she smiled when she saw it was him. “Shawn!†she exclaimed, jumping up off of the bed and running to him. She wrapped her arms around him and hugged tight. “I missed you...†she whispered into his ear and he hugged her tight. Light, and how much she had missed him. She thought about him all the time. Even when she was with other men, she kept comparing what they did to what he did. She even considered how they were in bed to how she thought he would be. She couldnt help it, and felt guilty for sleeping with someone. She felt him tighten his arms around her, and she smiled to herself, glad that he seemed to miss her too.

She pulled back and kissed him softly on the cheek, trying to keep back the tears. Becoming a tower guard had been one of the best and one of the worst things to ever happen to. She was finally being raised, and was finally allowed to do as she pleased. But she was being separated from him. They couldnt have a relationship while she was a rank above him, and she was too busy to ever hang out with him when he had time. It was like a piece of her was missing. He was one of her best friends, and at the same time, one of the only boys she had never slept with. They had come really close the first night he had been in the same room as her, but he had turned her down. They were having a chance again. Staring in his eyes, she couldnt help it as a single tear fell. “I missed you so much...†She smiled, and hugged closer to him again, glad he was back with her.

  7. He shook his head, and she smiled, jumping onto her feet quickly. “Well, then, lets begin.†Her smile was more of a smirk, as she knew that he was about to regret ever coming to Tar Valon. “You say that you have trained before. I am guessing, then, that you would know the basic guard stance.†He nodded and moved into it. She did too. “Good. Now, I want for you to do as I say. Assume perform Unfolding the Fan, then move into Lion on the Hill. From there, you can step into Arc of the Moon, and turn it into The Falcon Swoops. Finish up with Folding of the Fan. Got that?†He stared at her, and she clapped her hands together. “I said, do you have it?†He just looked a little oblivious, and while she wore a frown on her face, a grin was inside of her, ready to burst.

“Honestly, you say that you once was taught, with your brother too. Don’t tell me you need him with you to perform. What is he, your security blanket? You are training to be a warder now, and we must destroy these weaknesses. Weakness number one: you cannot perform when given a simple task. Weakness number two: you cannot follow orders from your superior. Weakness number three: you need either your brother’s approval or your brother’s guidance in order to work with a weapon… need I continue?†He shook his head, and she took a few steps away from him.

“Now, remember what I told you, and watch as I do. When I am done, I hope you at least remembered some of it. I will repeat it two more times. By the time I am done, I want for you to be able to repeat it. If you feel like you look like a fool, no worries, because you do, and you will. I hope you came prepared, boy, because I am going to work you to death.†With that, Deneira’s hand went to her scimitar, and she swung it out, stroking the blade smoothly across her chest. The void entered her, and she forgot about the boy before her that she hated, and concentrated on making the easy forms flawless.

Her body moved her, the blade an extension of her body, and she held the blade in front of her, just at her shoulder, her legs spread lightly. It went into a slash, up and over, as though beheading an imaginary opponent. Her arm thrust forward, and she twisted her wrist just so, and then her body moved back to guard. The blade whipped as it was sheathed, and she paused a moment, her hand still at her hip. She just stared forward, as though through empty eyes. Softly, she whispered, “Watch closely, because that was the first of three times.â€

She repeated it twice, and after the final time, she slowly walked forward to him, and when she turned to face him, her eyes were no longer empty, but replaced with a cold stare. “Do it. If you cannot, then I want for you to try. You can never accomplish anything unless you try.†And you cannot fail unless I make a total idiot out of you…

  8. Sirayn simply returned the stare, and Christine smiled softly. She would not lose in this one, and she was absolutely crazy if she thought that she would role over and play dead. Christine had hopes and dreams. She wanted to see the world, she wanted to meet people and see things. She wanted to learn, and she wanted to excel. She wanted to prove her worth in battle, and she wanted to learn from the best that which she loved- a battlefield. No one would stop her from that dream. The fact that she slept with a few men every few nights was not something that should hold her back- in fact, that should be a bonus. She could share the bed with any man she wanted, and learn secrets about anything she needed. Honestly, this woman could be using her for a benefit of the Ajah, and yet, she was being criticized for her actions. So what she wasn’t a sitter, so what she wasn’t world renowned. She had only been a sister for ten years, and she was barely old enough for anyone to trust her! Of course, that could always be why Sirayn was mad at her.

Sirayn talked for a while, and Christine just blocked the voice from her mind. She had a bad enough headache, and this woman was really starting to get annoying. Couldn’t they just talk in the- oh, wait. Looking out the window, Christine realized it was morning. She kept her mouth shut, then wrote something on a paper. Thank the light, the woman was done talking! Looking at the paper, Christine saw a date. What was that, the day she was supposed to be gone from the tower by? Light, she would be out that night, just as soon as she had slept for a few moments and said a few goodbyes. But a word came up that was startling. Two words, in fact. Court Martial. And not just any court martial, but one for her. The words that followed passed around her. The court martial was no longer a thread, but now it was... she was being court martialed. The world stopped around her. Her heart didn’t beat, her breath stopped short, and she felt her body go cold. It was almost dying, but her heart began to beat again, and her breath was more of a gasp. A court martialing... light!

That would ruin her career. Everything. She would never again be trusted. No one would associate with someone that was no longer thought to be... trusted. She would just be a body that lived, but her soul would be gone. Everything she had fought for, everything she had lived for, and everything she had dreamed of would gone in the flash of an eye. The scandal behind the court martialing itself was bad, but if she was convicted... they might as well just strip her powers away from her. The world spun a little, and Christine’s hands squeezed the arms of the chair she sat in. She started searching her mind, looking for a solution, but could find none. Sirayn Sedai, the horrid captain general, the weakling, the handicapped, and the inept, would win. Then her blood boiled. The anger and the hatred she had for her captain burned inside of her, and it took all of her energy to grab onto the source and hold it, trying to calm down. How dare she try to end her hopes and dreams! How dare she try to stop everything, just because she was worried about stupid IMAGE!

She regained control of herself, and looked up slowly, her smile gone, but the coolness she had learned as an Aes Sedai had replaced it. Her eyes were cold, and she slowly spoke, trying to keep the anger from returning. “I am sorry, Sirayn Sedai, but can you please repeat back to me what you said about... escaping this little meeting? Im not certain I heard you correctly.†Light, there had to be some way out of this. She would not go down like this!

  9. He hurridly sat beside her, and she relaxed, her eyes shut, but her ears open. He spoke, somewhat unsteadily, and she learned. Perhaps he wouldnt be an absolute wreck, but he would have to work very hard to make anything of himself. But he had learned with his brother, and that meant that he was, more than likely, dependent on the blind fool. This would most certainly cause a problem in the end. Of course, that wasnt something she would deal with. If Corin wanted them together, then she would agree to it, but at the first sign of trouble, she would not run off to get help. Ginae had given him to her, and she would either make him or break him... and she was hoping for the latter. She didnt want some mangled fool trying to protect her, or the tower, for that matter.

He finished, and she stared at him for a moment, then gave him one simple nod. “You have a lot of work to do. While you may have been taught a few simple forms, and had swung a sword around a little, you are not a trained swordsperson, and I do not want to hear of you running around as such.†Light, if she heard anything of him running around, swinging a sword, she would kill him before Ginae even got word of what he had done.

“Your training will be long, and hard. You must be willing to work without ceasing, and push yourself further than you ever thought possible. You have three things counting against you at the moment. The first is your arm. I have not yet seen how it hinders your sword work, but I already no that it is a bother. The second thing against you is your brother. You will be compared to him, no matter how hard you try. You will also want to always protect him and coddle him because of his weakness. The last thing against you is what will hurt you the most... and that is me.â€

Her eyes dared him to contradict her, and he stared back at her. “I will not coddle you, and I will not allow you to slip through the system. I will work you hard, and if, and I truely mean, if, you make it to the rank of tower guard, you will be a force to reckon with. I am your teacher, and you are my trainee. I hope you learn and accept that very soon, for your own benefit. Any questions, boy?â€

  10. Ages come and go, and trainees enter the yard, then leave it, and some eventually come to a rank at which they realise Aes Sedai help is needed. Rare it is indeed when that help is, in truth, the payment of a debt. Christine could still remember that day that she had needed Shawn, Corin's young trainee, to run around, finding that note. Light, it Sirayn ever found out how much she had messed up that day... Well, she hadnt, and that was a very good thing. She had even hoped that perhaps the trainee had forgotten her error over a year before, but she was wrong, and he had remembered. Of course, this was in different circumstances- a raising was something she would love to be a part of.

This was her second raising, and she knew exactly what would happen. Of course, this didnt mean that she would show up when needed. It was as though she had an internal clock, and that was when she would arrive and leave- on her own time. Of course, she was not very late, knowing the tradition, and arrived just as Corin was taking his place. She wore a green dress, the neckline modest, and the skirts were full. Her Aes Sedai ring was on her finger, and her hair was twisted back, some ringlets falling down, the rest staying firmly in place with pins that were placed perfectly.

Nodding to the Commander, and then to Corin, she assumed her position beside the stone, waiting for it to begin.

  11. Deneira was speechless. What in the world had kept him going? yes, she had lost alot, but Shawn... he was a completely different story. She would have broken a long time before if she had endured anything he had. She wanted to hug him, or kiss him, or something, anything. She just wanted to let him know how much she cared. She could still his arm around her, and she saw him look away. She knew he was in pain, she had already seen it in his eyes.

Before she could stop herself, she reached her hand out to his cheek, and turned his face to look at hers, and his eyes to stare into hers. His eyes looked about to cry, and so did she, and she blinked softly, a few tears falling. "I would never hurt you." She whispered. Now why did she say that? She almost took it back, and her cheeks blushed red, and again, her body acted. She leaned forward, and her lips pressed to his softly. A few more light pecks, and she pulled back. "Never." And layed her head gently on his shoulder.

Her heart was racing, and for a moment, she was very glad she hadnt slept with him. Perhaps he would be different, and not a lover, but a friend. She would enjoy a friendship with him, and she could see it being beneficial. His arm was still wrapped tight around her, and the other rested in his lap. She slowly picked up his free hand with hers, and then wrapped it around the matching hand, his fingers linking with hers. She looked up at him, smiling, then settled her head back on his shoulder. She could almost see the writing on the wall. What was she doing? This wasnt anything like her... why was she behaving so foolishly?

  12. Deneira heard a clunk, and turned around in time to see him rubbing at his face, and shaking his head. How could he have walked into a wall? fool boy... She hit her mouth behidn her hand, laughing. He caught up, and she nodded. the guards were all laughing too. He had better watch out... the next day, he would be the trainee that walked into the wall, and no one would let him live that one down.

Leading him to Ginae's office, she passed Mateo... that idiot. She still hated him. Ever since that first day, when she had broken his nose. She always hated him... big oaf! He glared at her, and she smiled sweetly to him. "Stay away from him." She whispered. "That man will only get you into trouble!" Ryusai nodded, and she led him into Ginae's office.

"Ginae, this is Ryusai, new kid, meet the Mistress of Trainees. I think I'm going to leave now, before I get told to mentor!" With that, Christine slipped out the door, running off before Ginae could say anything.

  13. She laughed quietly at her question, kind of wondering if she really wanted to know the answer. Perhaps this night wasn’t what she thought it would be… perhaps he was just being friendly… but she couldn’t help but think, and hope, for more. He returned the smile, and their eyes held perfectly. She felt lost, just staring at him. The table was silent, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. It was almost as though just sitting there, looking at each other, was saying things. She didn’t know what, yet, but she knew that they were talking. He looked away, and she glanced down at her glass, taking her last sip.

She almost thought he wouldn’t answer when she heard his voice, and her eyes darted back up to look into his. “Well, it was not a lack of proficiency,†His eyes met hers, and she smiled. She had just been complimented by a Grand Master… amazing, no one would believe her. He stopped talking, and they held eyes, as he slowly spoke. “I don’t know. There was something about you…†He looked back into her eyes, and she was confused. Something about her? Light, that could mean anything! “It’s that look,†Her look? “That’s it.â€

Her jaw dropped open, and she stared at him. She could feel her cheeks burning, but she couldn’t move her hands to cover her cheeks. That was definitely something, and most certainly not something she had prepared for. Looking down, she smiled and covered her cheeks and mouth with her hands. A nervous laugh escaped her lips, and she tried to push back the blush. Nodding slightly, she smiled, feeling… perfect. the way he was acting… it was so different, so weird. What he flirting with her? She dared to not think that.

Dinner and everything finished, and he was a bit tipsy. She had drunken a lot too, but she was certainly used to it by now. After all, she had been drinking for about five years, hard. She wasn’t that drunk, but he didn’t know that, and used it to her advantage. Leaning on him, he practically wrapped his arms around her as they walked. She felt so content in his arms as he held her, and on occasion, had to hide a gasp as his hands brushed her stomach or buttox. Was he flirting with her, or just too drunk to know better?

They got into the tower, and made it to her barracks. Was he coming inside with her, or what? She knew that Shawn wouldn’t like that… perhaps his room would be better, unless he stayed with that Aes Sedai he was bonded to. The idea she would get in trouble passed through her mind, but she shook it away. “Looks like we made it.†She nodded slowly, and turned to look at him, smiling softly. “So…â€

She was so close to him, she knew he could hear her heart pounding. “So…†She was practically touching him, their lips were so close. If either of them moved forward even a tad, their lips would be together. She didn’t know what to do, and he moved, pulling away. “I…ah…thank you for the lovely evening.†What? He was leaving… not even a kiss…“Good night.†He ran into the building, and went up the three flights of stairs to the Warder rooms, leaving her there in shock. Her chest was still rising and falling, and she didn’t know what to do. Had he just denied her? Perhaps he was just too drunk to know better… but she knew that she wished she was in his bed at that moment.

She went to her room, and there sat Shawn, waiting for her. He looked questioningly to her, and she shook her head. “I don’t wanna talk about it.†He nodded his head, and she almost thought she saw a tear, but her own thoughts consumed her as she went around pealing off the dress and slipping into bed, naked. Shawn had seen her naked plenty of times, it was no shock to him, she knew.

The next day, she looked around for him everywhere. Had he just disappeared on her? Where was he? The next day was the same. By that night, she was certain he had forgotten her. After all, she was just a Tower Guard, and he could have anyone he wanted, including that aes sedai of his. She just tried to push that night and her feelings out of her mind, and tried to occupy herself. It was three days since she saw him when she went into town, looking for something to do. She just walked along the streets, looking at vendors, and talking to people she knew.

â€Deneira?†She heard his voice, and her heart stopped. She turned around from the window she was looking in, and saw him looking at her. “Sir, how are you?†He looked a bit nervous, and so was she. She didn’t know what to say, and he just muttered something. They stood there in an uncomfortable silence, and spoke at the same time. â€Are you busy?†“Want to do something?†They both smiled and laughed, nodding their heads. â€What to do…†He said, looking around. She turned, and saw a bathhouse beside the store window she was looking in. She looked back at him, and their eyes met, nodding. “What about this…†What was she getting herself into?

  15. He stared back at her, straight in the eyes, and she returned the stare. What, did he hate her now? Honestly, he was the mentee, and he would have to deal with that. When, no IF he became a Tower Guard, then he could teach, and be the leader. Until then, he was hers to command, and he would have to deal. His face was calm as he looked at her, but his body was tense, and his eyes were hard. She could tell, the more she returned the stare. He hated her. Well, she hated him. Why her, of all people? She should just dump him onto Corin to deal with… this was stupid. "I use only the sword so far, and no, I brought my sword with me, ma'am." His eyes stared straight into hers, and she stared back. She would win this contest, no matter how hard he tried. She was the Tower Guard, and he was the Trainee. He would have to deal with that.

Raising her eyebrows, she walked around him, her eyes still staring at his until he bowed his head slightly. She slowly walked around him, hands on her hips, and as she stared at his arm, she had to wince. She could still remember the last time that she had seen scarring so bad… what had happened to Leawen, anyways? He had taken everything from her, she had been meaning to repay the favor. Probably bonded to that idiot Aes Sedai that had shown up. Everything had been lost that night. Her innocence, her love, her respect for herself… which made her turn to men to fill her. But, perhaps she would have never found Shawn. He loved her as she was, and while they were not always on the best of terms, he was a lot better than that idiot.

She was brought back to the world around her as she stopped in front of him, her eyes meeting his. “You look like you could be strong, perhaps we will try a Battle Axe or a Great Sword… but we shall see how you- handle- the sword that you have with you. Let me see it, please.†He hesitated, but slowly, he drew it from his hip. He held it in both hands out to her, and she slowly reached out her hand, touching the handle, then the blade. A katana… light, she would have suggested a short broadsword, or maybe a bastard sword… why something that requires speed and accuracy when he was so… unable to use it? She wondered what his brother used- she would ask Corin later.

Placing her hand back on the hilt, she wrapped her fingers around it and raised it. Her half tried to stop her, his face shocked, and she left his weapon just a few inches over his hands. What was wrong with him, why was he so edgy? What, was he worried about a woman with a blade? Light, she could kill him in one blow with her own weapon, so why would she need his too? She stared into his eyes, and almost saw fear, or maybe it was disbelief. “Don’t tell me you are afraid of a woman with a weapon!†He stared at her, and she set the sword back in his hands. Going to her belt, she drew her scimitar, and carefully held the blade, offering the hilt to him. “There, you take my blade, ill take yours!†He slowly took it from her, and let her have his katana.

She wrapped her hand around it and brought it up with both hands, looking at the connection between the hilt and the blade itself. It was longer than her own weapon, but slightly lighter, and a bit skinnier, but still razor sharp. If he planned on staying with this weapon, his path would be speed, and it would be a difficult one at that. She ran her hand against the flat of the blade upwards, and turned it over, inspecting the blade. It’s condition was flawless, and was a good make. She was certain that it had been a master blacksmith that had made it. She looked for a seal on it, but decided to stop, when out of the corner of her eye, she saw him swinging around her own blade. Light, he was going to hurt himself if he kept that up. “It’s a good blade, I approve.†She handed it back to him, and she received her own back. Smart thinking on his part. She easily twisted her wrist, and glided the blade back where it belonged.

Sitting on the ground, she relaxed, leaning against the tree that was there. Her hair, she pulled from the holder, and let the braid fall apart as she undid it, the waves falling out. His eyes watched hers, and she watched him back. For a moment, she could see Leawen’s hungry eyes, and his grin, and that scar down his face. Shaking her head, she told herself again that Leawen was gone, and this was her mentee. Perhaps that was why she despised him so… but she didn’t want to think about it. Her hand patted the ground beside her, and she asked him to sit down. “Come on, you can tell me about your past weaponry, and I can relax. Hurry up, boy.â€

  16. Deneira saw many people as they walked, and she smiled and waved to all she knew. Of course, she had to... many were her friends, and of course, she had to be sociable. Not being such would be... wrong. It would flat out be wrong for Deneira. He spoke up, and she regained her thoughts.

"The Mistress of Trainees... well, its been a few years, but I can remember sort of stumbling into her office, and she got some information off of me, then gave me to a mentor to take care of... usually, its the first TG she can get her hands on... and it will not be me, because I will run if she tries to give me another student."

Laughing, she winked at him as they walked. "Whatever you do, dont comment on Ginae's hair. I havent seen her for a while, but last I saw, it was barely growing back in, and still blue. I suggest not staring at it either..." Giggling, Deneira continued to the tower, taking a street, knowing they were almost there. "Only a little bit more to go. So, tell me about yourself."

  17. "Good, then come along." She started walking to town, and made sure he kept up. "I am going to need your help. There is an apothecary in town, and I need you to ask her for some medicine for colds, sneezing, coughing, and anything like that."

He looked about to speak, and more than likely ask why she didnt just go to a yellow, and she raised her hand to silence him. "I have my reasons for what I do, so just leave it at that. You must do this for me, because i dont know what ill do if this wont work."

They walked for a while, and she noticed the uncomfortable silence of the trainee. "What's your name, and who is your mentor?"

  18. Oh, so it was a new trainee. The way he was looking at her, he almost seemed in disbelief. Honestly, if he looked at every girl the way he was looking at her, the Aes Sedai would skin him alive, and Ginae would hang him up by his ears. He had better get used to Tar Valon, too. It was going to be his new home, and Tar Valon was like the world training center... It was where the things taught behind walls could come alive.

Walking past him, she beckoned him to follow. "Then you are coming with me. Hurry up, I'll take you to Ginae, then I have to get over to the Tower Guard Barracks. Where you need to go is a bit out of my way, but thats ok. Hurry up, boy." He looked at her strange, then she realised that no introductions had been made. "Oh, my apologies." She offered him her hand, and he took it. "Deneira l'Spada, I'm a Tower Guard, and Ginae is the Mistresss of Trainees, who you need to see."

He looked at her a bit in shock, still holding, but not shaking her hand. "And you are..."

  20. Standing in the middle of the grove, Christine threw the sword at the ground, furious at herself. What was wrong with herself? Why wasnt she able to do anything right? Light, she felt like a child... honestly, only a month with no practice, and she was practically a trainee again. Did she plan on getting sick? No, of course not. And there was no way she would go to a yellow, asking for help. They were always telling her that she was a foolish girl, and often told her to stop drinking so much and to stop sleeping around. Honestly, if she wanted their help, she would ask. Of course, she had wanted their help and she hadnt asked... thank goodness no one had noticed she had gone missing for a while.

Light, she needed some medicine... bad. She had tried to trick a yellow in town, but to no avail was she given any medicine. She thought that she was better, but her limbs ached. At first, the idea had been that perhaps, since she hadnt practiced in a while, her body was just out of shape, but she knew this had to do with being sick. Obviously, sneezing and coughing nonstop for a month had done a piece of work on her body. Well, after all this fight and hassle, there was no way in the world that she would just roll over and play dead for some smug yellow sister. She would get that medicine some how... She just needed someone to get the medicine for her.

Picking her sword back up, Christine groaned as her back ached. Aran would get the medicine for her... he was usually pretty nice these days, since they were no longer teacher and student. She was an Aes Sedai, and he was a Tower Guard. They were friends, but would he actually help her in this... either he would help her, or else he would laugh at her. But this was something she was willing to risk.

Running from the grove, she almost ran into a fool boy that was swinging a sword around. His stance was atrocious, and his mentor should be embaressed... no wonder the boy was out there alone; if she was his mentor, she would be embaressed... she had to save him from embarrassment. He seemed to still be in his own world, and she flicked out her sword easily, stepping in with him, taking his light swing with the counter and twisting her arm around, easily doing an arc and making his blade almost useless to him. Her back creaked as she moved, and only by her cool Aes Sedai face did she suppress a wince. "Hello there, think you can help a lady out?"

  22. Christine rose from her chair, smiling, and set down her cup. "Excellent, then we shall leave now." She walked out the door, and called back to the girl to hurry up. The girl kept up, and Christine went into the inn she was staying, and continued to gather her things. "Well, we shall go get you a horse now, and be gone before nightfall!"

  23. Deneira was tired, not from the exercise, but because she needed sleep. And he just stared at her. Why was he staring? He just kept staring, and his face suddenly went red. Next thing she knew, he was swinging his sword around, and her eye brows raised in shock. Somehow, the sword was about to fly from his hand, but instead, landed in his leg.

Deneira's mouth dropped open, in a bit of shock, and ran forward to catch him and set him down. "I NEED SOME HELP!" she yelled. Looking at it, she realised what happened, and fell over laughing. Her sides her, she was laughing so hard. Two trainees had to help her up, and somehow, they struggled to get Braxton into the infirmary, where an angry yellow pulled out the sword, and healed the wound. Braxton of course screamed out, but Deneira had her mouth covered with a rag, trying to not see her tears. She just couldnt stop laughing.

As soon as he was healed, she made him get up and follow her back into the yard. He sort of hung his head, and this time, she took his sword away from him, and gave him a stick. "Sheathe that... and if you hurt yourself again, I just flat out will leave you there!"

  24. Deneira was smiling as she left the dress shop. She still couldnt believe that Shawn had asked her out on a date as... a real date. But even more shocking to her was the fact they were going dancing! So of course, Deneira had to get a dress. And it was her first dress... ever. She had worn one of Lyv's, once, and she had borrowed one from an Aes Sedai she had met, but this was her first real dress... the first one she had bought herself, the first one she owened. She even had shoes to go with it.

It was a red dress, lower cut, and a tight waist. The slippers were red, too, and felt soft when she wore them. Of course, right then and there, she had them all wrapped up, and she was in her training uniform. She would never DARE to get such precious items ruined with dust and mud. no, it would be horrid... completely ruin their date.

A boy ahead of her in the crowd stopped, and she walked into him, almost dropping her package. He began apologising, and she checked everything, making sure it was alright. "No, no, its fine, I promise."

He looked like a trainee, he had that whole... "wanna-be warder" look. But she hadnt seen him around the yard. Perhaps he was new. "Excuse me, but are you a trainee at the warders yard?" Well, she had to be blunt... she didnt really have time to beat around the bush.
