  2. The fight was over as Danian’s weapon went flying through the air, and Dorian was on the ground in pain. She had heard Corin’s voice, but enough was enough... this boy would get his lesson once and for all. He was standing there staring at her in shock as his weapon landed about twenty paces behind him, and Deneira walked up to him, her fury flying out. She struck him hard across his weak arm. “That is for your stupidity!†She punched him with her left hand at the nose, breaking it loudly. “That is for your lack of respect!†She dropped down and slide kicked his foot out from under him and watched as he fell flat on his back, and she held the blade at his neck. “And THAT is because-“ Her words were cut short as Corin came running up to her.

“STOP IT!†he yelled. Deneira took one more look at Danian and spit at him. “I have waisted enough time on you,†she said down at him. “I hope that tomorrow, you are ready to accept your training work and stop wining and complainin abnout something we all went through.†He just laid back down, and Deneira went to Dorian. Kneeling down beside him, she took his hand, and he quickly hoped back up. “I want you to know I would never hurt you. You have always had manners to me, and I was only teaching your brother a lesson. It was also he that struck you. I think you need to go to the infirmary.â€

Corin stared at her, and she turned back to him. Both trainees stood there, one watching, one listening, and she walked up to him and put her hands on her hips. “What? He started it, and I told him to do what I taught him. The wounds he has is because of his own stupidity, the fact he wouldnt listen to me, and his inability to grasp simple blocks that every trainee should know.†Corin just shook his head at her, and she glared back at him.

  3. Fayth nodded, and Nicola walked up, turning to Fayth, and blocked them. Deneira looked away for a moment, then looked back as she set the basket and box down. The basket was full of herbs and bandages, which she was certain would all come in handy. She wondered if the herb she needed was one of those. Nicola smiled at her, and Deneira had shivers down her back. What was wrong with that woman… she didn’t like it. â€So, Deneira, what would you like to start with?â€

Deneira looked at the basket, then asked, “How do you reset a bone?†The lesson began, and she asked about everything from how to deal with a bee sting to what was the best way to slow bleeding in a large wound. The sisters helped and answered everything they could, and she had been told so many different names and seen so many different herbs, she was growing confused. How could all of these herbs make a difference? And how did the sisters remember it all? Perhaps being an Aes Sedai was harder than she had thought.

The sisters answered all of her questions, and now Deneira had to ask for the thing she came for. “I was wondering about… female problems.†Deneira said. â€Oh?†asked Fayth. â€Continue, child.†Deneira nodded. “Well… what about cramps and such? And is there anything for that time of the month? Since I am a guard, I have to be able to move, whether or not I am cramping. Is there anything for that?†They put together a few herbs, explaining how they would decrease any pains, and then offered to make her some tea from it then. She nodded, and Nicola walked off to brew the tea.

Fayth and Deneira were left sitting, and Deneira swallowed, ready to ask the truth. “And how do I keep from getting pregnant?†she whispered.

  4. The second one that had spoken... the impatient one, she guess, stepped up and took her arm. “Don’t me so nervous, my dear, of course we’ll help you.†Deneira nodded her head and was brought to a bed. “Now have a seat, and tell me exactly what kind of healing you expect to do with these herbs.†Deneira smiled and took a seat on the bed, wrapping her arms over her chest. The one that had taken her to the bed pulled up a chair, sitting in front of her, and the other one that had first spoken stood behind her, arms crossed, watching what was going on. “Well... my name is Deneira l’Spada, and I am a Tower Guard.†Both nodded, and the one in the chair spoke. â€My name is Fayth Sedai, and this is Nicola Sedai.†Deneira nodded her head to both of them, then started thinking.

“Well, you see... as a Tower Guard, and happy as such, I really don’t want to bond.†She saw a look on their faces that she didnt like. “Oh, don’t get me wrong, Aes Sedai are nice and all, but I enjoy what I do in Guard duty and teaching. So, obviously, I wouldn’t have the benefit of Healing from an Aes Sedai. I want to be able to take care of myself if something happens. Even more, what about if I go on vacation or something, and someone I am with gets hurt? I can’t let-“ she almost said Shawn, but changed it quickly-“ someone die because I am unable to Heal them. That is why I am here!â€

They both nodded, and she smiled at them. Nicola Sedai leaned down and whispered into Fayth Sedai’s ear, and then nodded, walking off to get some things, then returned with a basket of different things and another box that was full. Looking away, she felt eyes on here. â€What is it?†Fayth asked her. Deneira shook her head, smiling. “It is nothing. There is just this guy that I am sort of with, and I just wouldnt want anything to happen to him. That is why I want to learn about these things. I couldnt let him get hurt because of my lack of knowledge.â€

  5. Looking around, Deneira slipped into the infirmary. She hid behind a door, watching the Aes Sedai work. She didn’t know what she would say or what she would. How could she have been so foolish for so long? She had gotten lucky so far, but she didn’t want to risk it anymore. She even felt bad for shrugging off Shawn after breakfast. They had been in line, getting breakfast, and Shawn had forgotten something for his mentee, He had run back to the room, leaving her with the trays, and she sat down at their usual table. She heard a voice behind her, talking of the Aes Sedai, and Deneira was about to tune them out when she heard a startling word. Pregnant. She kept her ears open and listened to the conversation, cursing herself for this.

Some Aes Sedai was pregnant. She was not married, but she had a warder... and it was her warder's best friend's baby. Not good, and very scandalous. Deneira wasn’t certain if the story was true or not, but the fact was, she had never thought about pregnancy. She could be pregnant, or not even know it. And she didn’t want to stop being a Guard, and she was positive that Shawn didn't want a child, especially with her. So, of course, she had to change something. Shawn had shown up and tried to kiss her as she walked off to "training", and she told him she was in a hurry. The look on his face hurt her, but she couldn’t make a mistake between the two of them.

And so here she was, waiting until she got a moment to talk to two of them. She slipped into the room and walked to a closet door. The Aes Sedai were all in their own ways, but two happened to notice her. They walked up to her, and Deneira looked away. "Can we help you?" asked one of them. Deneira nodded her head slowly. They stood there for a moment, and the other one crossed her arms, asking, "Well, what is it?" Deneira breathed in deeply, and looked up at them both. "I need..."

She took another breath, and said, "Herbal remedies. For smaller wounds. Like, poison of some sort, or broken bones, illness, and small injuries from weapons." Deneira ended it with a quick smile. The Aes Sedai looked at each other, and Deneira felt her face get red. Light, how hard was it to say she needed something to prevent pregnancy? She was certain that they got those situations all the time- Deneira couldn’t be the only woman in the Warders Yard and the White Tower that was having sex!

"Since I can't channel and all, I want to be prepared, just in case. And so, I figured you ladies would be able to help me out best, as you do know all the tricks of the trade." Deneira's tongue burned from her words. She had never before lied to an Aes Sedai, and rarely lied to anyone else, unless she had a very good reason. Light, what was she getting herself into?

  6. *clings* NOOOOOOO! you cant leave me, partner in evil! *sobs*

well, bring me back a present! something pretty, or in pink! h311, ill go tell you on msn right now! *goes off to send Shawn a shopping list*

  7. ’Bloodycurses! What the hell is wrong with my back? And why am I so hungry? And thirsty… my throat is so dry. Oh my god. Where is Shawn? What happened to him? Where am I? What is going on? Ohh… my back!’ Deneira tried to move, and she slowly pushed herself up. She was starving, and her throat was so dry. A woman rushed to her, and she saw many other women in the room and they were all talking in hushed tones. “Where-“ Deneira could hardly whisper out, and she was handed a glass of water. Sipping at it, she swallowed slowly, almost choking on it. She was so tired, and her head hurt so bad… Light, what was going on?

â€You are in the infirmary. Guards found you at the gates, bleeding out. You are lucky you got here so fast. The young man that had you passed out from the blood, and if he hadn’t rushed you here, you might be dead.†What?! Where was Shawn? She sat up, looking around for him, and saw him beside her. He looked so pale and was asleep… she hoped. A sob caught in her throat. “Is he…†The Aes Sedai answered her silent question. â€He is only asleep, and should be rising soon.†Deneira smiled, tears rolling down her face. Thank the light!

She pushed away the woman who was trying to get her to sit back down, and fell out of the bed. Shawn was only a few feet away, and she could feel the silence in the room. She knew that she was only in her underware and the bandages they had wrapped around her back that happened to cover her bosom, and that she was creating a scandal, but she had to see him. She would also have to ask who disrobed her and where her dress was. She somehow crawled to him, and the woman let her. Rising up on her knees, she leaned against the bed as she took Shawn’s hand.

“Please, Shawn. Please wake up. I’m so sorry, please wake up.†She held onto his hand, crying softly. Light, he could have died because of her! What had happened, she couldn’t remember. Just that she had felt a pain in her back. She squeezed his hand. Light, she hadn’t even told him how she felt. She hadn’t said she liked him, and they hadn’t been together in bed, and… light, she wouldn’t be able to live with herself if he wasn’t ok. “Shawn, please, I love you, please wake up.†He layed there, but she felt a squeeze on her hand. She brushed away the tears.

She felt a hand on her shoulder and flinched away from the Aes Sedai. â€I think you need to get back in bed,†the woman said, and Deneira shook her head. “No, he almost died because of me, and I won’t leave him till he wakes up.†The woman shook her head no. â€You almost died. The reason he is still asleep is because so many of us had to work on you. You lost a lot of blood, while he is simply sleeping off the Healing. Get back into that bed, because you are the one at risk.â€

Deneira looked at Shawn again, and kissed his hand softly. “I love you,†she whispered again. She felt woozy and felt about to fall over when she felt people around her, picking her up. She was placed into bed again, and turned her face to look at him. He was still so pale… was the woman certain he was only sleeping? Well… they couldn’t lie. And they had said that he was ok… She closed her eyes again, and realisation struck her. She had said she loved him twice. Did she love him? Well, if love was caring about someone more than yourself, and wanting to do anything to make them happy then she was in love. Light, why was it so confusing? What if he didnt love her? Oh light... Tears ran down her cheeks, and she fell asleep again.

  8. "Not tonight it seems," She watched him throw his knife as he drew his weapon, and smiled for a second, glad that he was with her. Turning to the two men that had appeared before her, she smiled. “Ready to lose?†she asked as she fitted the weapon in her hand. It felt perfect, almost as if her hand was made for it, and it was yet another eerie sign that Shawn was perfect for her. She fought them both, and tried to center herself. One lunged at her, and she swung her weapon to block his attack, gracefully putting out her foot to trip him. Honestly, men were idiots. Why did they always assume that because they were bigger and stronger, they could hurt her? It was his own foolishness that had him down. She kicked his weapon away from him, and turned to the other that was now running at her.

Blocking his attack, they sparred for a moment before their weapons were locked and she kicked him in the stomach. He took a few steps back, trying to catch his breath. She walked to him, ready to slash at him while she had the chance when she felt something grab the back of her dress. Taking a few steps back from the jolt, she quickly spun around, slashing the man in front of her. He fell back, almost dead, when she turned around to another sword in her face. She slashed at his arm, and punched him in the face. He fell down to the ground, and she leaned down, whipping Shawn’s blade off on his shirt as she pushed away his blade. She felt something behind her, and heard Shawn, but then, a pain went through her back.

Screaming out, Deneira stood there in shock for a moment before falling down, feeling her back cut open from a large slash. Someone caught her, and she layed there in his arms, unable to move or say anything. He held onto her tight, and she felt the tears streaming. She tried to hold back her shouts as he checked her, and she started shaking, feeling the blood leave her body. “Please don’t let me die,†she whispered to Shawn. Tears were streaming from both his eyes and hers, and she stared into his eyes just as everything went dark.

  9. His story had her in shock. She sat there, listening, as he told her of how he had wanted her and followed her… and then have a desire for her… Deneira blushed red, and she leaned forward, kissing his lips softly. He kissed back, and they sat their for a few moments, just holding each other close. Pulling back, she whispered, “Let’s go.†He nodded, and she rose from the table as he did. After finishing things there, he led her outside, and they walked down the street hand in hand.

The town was quiet at night, and at one moment, she turned and looked at him, stopping in the middle of the street. He turned to her, then pulled her close into his arms as he held her under the stars. Somehow, they were suddenly dancing as he rocked her back and forth in his arms. Her head rested on his shoulder as he held her tight, and she sighed happily.

“Shawn… have you really cared about me since then? I had never known… I just wish you had told me.†He stared into her eyes, and they moved away from the street as he pulled her to a building. He leaned against it and pulled her to him again, and she waited for a reply. Finally, he spoke. â€Well, I am telling you now.†With that, he leaned down and kissed her on the lips, hard. She almost fell back against the building, and he held her their, their lips and tongues on fire as the passion that had been buried deep inside them seemed to billow out.

She heard laughter and opened her eyes to see three large men behind Shawn. She was determined to finish her kiss, and they kept on, her hand slipping down his chest towards his pants. Shawn pushed against her harder, and Deneira had to keep her head together to grasp her hand around the hilt of his sword and pull away. He was shocked at first, until she pointed out the men behind him, and he pulled out his other sword. “Will we ever have a normal date?†she asked him, ready to begin battle.

  10. “Good. Sit down, and lets eat.†They talked for a bit while he cooked his food, and they enjoyed it passing stories or just watching the stars. Deneira had missed being outside. It was a good time, to be on the open road, expeccially under clear skies. She hoped that Braxton was enjoying this trip as much as she was, and enjoy the break from tower life. Then again, she wasn’t the one being left alone…

The evening went by fine, and at one point, he had to relieve himself, and she slipped some drugs into his water. He returned and drank the water, and she watched him slowly fall asleep. Good… poor chap wouldn’t know what hit him. She collected up their things, even to the point of his personal belongings, and left him with only his bedroll, his knife, and the note, which she set on top of his knife beside him. He surely couldn’t miss it there. Mateo hadn’t even left her a note when she had to do this… idiot mentor.

Traveling down the road ahead, Deneira looked back on her sleeping mentee. Well, hopefully he wouldn’t get in to trouble… and anyways, she was only one big city ahead!

  11. He talked of random troubles with people she knew, and was tensed at Natan’s name. He had been her lover a long time before… she just hoped that Shawn didn’t know that. Light, she had certainly gotten around after time. She had been foolish in her youth, but she was glad that now, she was with Shawn. Or at least, she hoped to be with Shawn.

They were done with their meal, and he ordered some desert, then rose from her chair. She lightly reached out to take his hand as he asked her to join him for a dance. She agreed, glancing away to hider her blush. She hadn’t danced in ages… but she did remember the Sa’sara… light, it was a good thing her father had never known. A slow song came up, and he pulled her to him. She rested her head on his chest, and he held her tight. Some how, nothing else mattered as they moved to the song. She could feel their bodies together, and she sighed happily.

"Feel free not to answer if it's too hard to talk about it but I was curious...care to tell me anymore about that incident you mentioned earlier? The one you breezed over before talking about the barfight? You seemed rather upset about it. I thought you might appreciate the oppurtunity to talk through the feelings the memory brought up." She froze in his arms, then looked up into his eyes. She hadn’t spoken about Leawen to anyone since Darion. But she knew she had to tell him. “Are you sure you want to know? It is a long story, and it might ruin the mood.†He nodded his head yes, and so, looking away, she rested her head back on his chest.

“You see, when I first came, I had one roommate. His name was Darion. Well, I had never really been around any guys other than my family, so it was new to me. I liked him, of course, and we became really good friends. Unfortunately… another man got me into bed first. I was in a bar, and he got me drunk, and took me to a room and… well, you can figure it out. Turns out, he was dating an Aes Sedai that got angry at me and…†She buried her head into his chest, and she felt the tears. He stopped dancing and pulled him to her, allowing her to cry into his chest for a moment. He took her back to the table, and sat down in his seat, pulling her down beside him.

Using a cloth napkin from the table, she whipped away the tears and he held her face in her hands so he could look into her eyes. “Darion lost his trust in me, and I felt alone and worthless. I guess that is why I turned into the person I once was. I never knew better, because I was never really treated much better. Until you…†He nodded, and she rested her head back on his shoulder. “I’m sorry for ruining the evening with my tears.†He looked as if he was going to silence her or kiss her, but the serving girl came with the desert, and Deneira thanked her.

“Please, tell me something funny so I can laugh. I really need a good laugh now.†She looked back into his eyes as his arm still held her tight to him.

  12. He was laughing about halfway through her story when he realised where she was going with it. â€Pranks? No, can't say as I have. I'm afraid you've hooked up with a rather boring old chap here. I like to have fun just like anybody else but for a long time after I got here I was so focused on training I didn't allow myself to have any fun. Training, swimming, and riding Blaize were the only enjoyable activities I allowed myself. No pranks? Well, she would soon change that. He seemed like he never had any fun, and it was because of his dedication to his training that they hadnt hooked up or become better friends during practice until they were roommates. If it wasnt for being a roommate with him... she might have never become friends with him, which led to their current dating status.

"I guess the most fun thing I've done though was the horse competition in Redfern. I entered every competition there was, and lost all of them. Actually, I didn't do so bad in some, just not well enough to win. It was to be expected though. I had little riding experience at that point and Blaize was still only half trained.†She had a feeling Blaize was his horse. She still had her father’s old horse, which sat in the stables. Cuebiyar was growing older very quickly, and she knew that he would soon die, but it was the one thing that she had left from her father that she could actually use. It wasnt like she could use his books... When the time came that she needed a new horse, she would buy one, but until that point in time came, she would just avoid needing to ride. Only on rare occasions and for short trips would she ride her current mare.

"Still, it was a lot of fun and the whole adventure gave Blaize and I the oppurtunity to form a bond. Now, I would trust him with my life." She began asking about what kind of horse Blaize was, and what adventure he had been on with the horse. Shawn seemed to open up to her and was rather excited about his horse. Now she had found his passion. It was hard to talk to him at times, because he always seemed afraid to talk, but now... it was like they were into his court. She hoped that one day soon, he would open up to her and be friendly enough with her, he could tell her anything, but until that time came, it would still be hard to talk to him at times.

"But enough about my horse," She pouted her lip at him, and he asked about her again. Well, she couldnt say no to talking about herself. "Tell me more about you. Tell me more of these troubles you've gotten into. It sounded rather interesting when you mentioned it earlier." Trouble... light, where to start?

“Trouble? Where to begin? Well, there was the time I got in trouble with an Aes Sedai and another trainee. Leawen and Nyssa Sedai...†She thought back on that night when she had lost it all, and smiled to him. “But that was a long time ago, and I don’t like talking about that. There is always the bar fight I was in!†He seemed really interested in her other fight, but the mention of a bar fight peeked his mind again.

“Well, once again, I was with Aran. This time, we were together for an actual point... to learn about bar fights. We sat down, and gave a sailor a coin. The man asked what it was for, and Aran said to give it to his mother for the night before. Next thing you know, a fight starts. Let’s just say, it was funny. He ended up with a broken nose, and I had a bruise on my arm. It was no major thing, but still, rather funny, and Ginae decided that it wasnt too cute either, and made us pay for the broken items. It was ok for us, because it was so funny... I just feel bad for the guy that punched Aran... he got a kick in the pants.†The cringe on Shawn’s face made her laughed again. “Surely, you have gotten into trouble at least once. Or what about friends? How many have you met here?â€

  13. "Okay, calm now." He pointed to his original chair and she sat down, smiling. She was bursting with questions to ask him, and smiled happily. "There's a few things to get straight first. I can't teach you Saidin. I can tell you about it and show you some things, but thats it. And no, I seriously doubt you'll be able to meet the Dragon. I met him myself only after the fall of the Stone of Tear." She pouted her lip at him for a moment. He wouldnt teach her Saidin? Well, that would make sense. She had once heard someone say Saidar was for women, but that would make her an Aes Sedai... eek! And not meeting the Dragon... it was probably for the best, because Adawyn knew that she would freak out in a heartbeat.

"As for coming with me...." Her puppydog eyes came out, and she watched him as he thought about it. She would love to go with him. It would be like the brother she never had. Even better, she would be away from her father and free, but not alone. And perhaps she would, for once, have a real friend. And how many friends did he have? Perhaps, for once, she wouldnt just have an old man and customers to be her friends. Maybe she could even do somethings for herself for once instead of always doing things for the good of everyone, like marrying that idiot back at the in...

"Okay, I can take you to the Black Tower if you wish. But I have three rules and conditions you have to agree to before I can take you there, since I can't garuntee you can just walk around for the day and leave again. One, Do not go wandering about without me, or at least someone else who I've introduced you to. I don't want you getting into an accident around there. Two, if I seriously tell you to do something or to leave, you do it. No questions, no arguements. And most importantly of all, number three..." Adawyn was so excited! She was going to the Black Tower! She didnt know where exactly she was going or what would be there, but she knew what it was she was leaving behind. This sounded much better. The first one sounded like a big brother rule. The second one... well, he was just like her father. Do things now, ask questions later. So typical of the men in her family...

But the third one had her worried. "... you do the dishes after dinner." Adawyn burst out laughing and stood up from him, putting her hands on her hips as she stood before him. She was so much shorter than him, but the way her eyes glared down to him, she knew he was probably about to burst out laughing. “You are a grown man. You will wash your own dishes. A homecooked meal doesnt come without a price!†He burst out laughing, and she laughed along with him.

Hugging him, she wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her head on his chest. He hugged her back, and she sighed happily. “I am so glad I found you. Now, you have family again, and I actually get the big brother I wanted.†She pulled back and smiled at him, doing a fake punch at his cheek. “You can be my big, mean brother, and I’ll be your bratty little sister. Sound fair?†He nodded through his laughter. “Good, so when do we go?â€

  14. He went into it, talking about how he had been sent away from the Tinkers. She could remember him talking about it, but she had not heard why he left them. Now she understood. To lose all of his family so many times... it was heart breaking, and she wished she could do something for him. Well, at least, as far as she knew, he was happy with her. She would do anything she could to make him smile.

Meeting Corin and the fight with the Blade Master... how typical Shawn. He was always acting so noble. “Crazy encounters? You have no idea. Oh, thank you.†Deneira accepted another glass of wine from the waitress. Sitting back, she racked through her brain, trying to think of what to say. “Well, I have quite a few friends I have met through random things.â€

“There was this one time, a few months before I got raised when I was walking through the yard. I was really tired and sobering up, when a tower guard stopped me. I had an interesting offer... I would get a bottle of spirits in exchange for help on a prank. Of course, I was all over it, not just for the drink, but for the idea of a prank. Of course, how could I have known what was going to happen with the prank.â€

Smiling, she took another sip of the wine and ran her fingers through her hair. “Well, do you remember a while back, when suddenly Ginae’s hair went Blue and she cut it very short?â€Shawn nodded, smiling, and leaned in to hear her story. “Well, the Tower Guard, Aran, had me drug her and we colored her hair blue. He got blamed, and I got away.†They both laughed, and she smiled again. Her heart beemed for him, and she was so happy that she was the reason he was smiling.

“So, any random pranks you go through? Or were you a good boy?†She winked at him, and he smiled back.

  15. "Well, we have reservations at the Golden Swan. I had in mind a nice romantic meal and then maybe some dancing? How does that sound?" She had never been to that place before, but she had heard of it, and it was certainly much more upper class than the usual tavern. “Sounds wonderful,†she whispered back. He smiled at her, and she enjoyed being with him. Just holding his hand, being with him, hearing his breaths, the warmth through his hand and into hers, the way his eyes sparkled when he looked at her...

They were in town, and she could see the sign up ahead, and he spoke up. The way his voice appeared as music to her ears, she half closed her eyes, smiling. "So, tell me Dene, is there anything you miss about being a trainee?" Smiling at him, he led her to the door and opened it for her, smiling. “I’ll answer that in a minute.†They were welcomed inside, and she smiled as Shawn stood behind her, looking around the room. He was a good man, and would make an amazing warder for some lucky Aes Sedai one day. Until then, he was hers. She could feel him behind her, and his one arm slipped around her waist as he spoke to the lady.

They were led to a quiet corner, with candles and wine all ready for them. He pulled out her chair and let her sit down before sitting down himself. “Trainee days... I miss them a lot. The freedom, the joy, the fun that we all had... I miss it.†Taking the glass of wine, she raised it up to him, and he did likewise. “Lets make a toast to new days, though. To a new life as Tower Guards.†They did so, and she sipped at it lightly. It was good wine, and certainly not the cheapest he could find. It was sad, she knew he was down on money, and yet he was buying a dinner she could afford easily. She would have to sneak some extra coins into his belt purse one night.

“I remember the first day I arrived. I was completely lost, an absolute wreck... it was bad. Lyv was the Mistress of Trainees back then, remember? He nodded. “Well, I just appeared one day, and Lyv was so sweet and kind to me. I ended up in a room with this guy... totally naive, and he...†she bit her tongue for a moment. She didnt really like to talk about her private business. “He taught me how to spell my name. Then I met my mentor. First guy I ever went on a date with...†But the second I slept with, she thought to herself. “So what about yourself? How was your first day?

  16. He was sassing her, and she knew that, but she had a feeling if she told him to stop that, he would just keep on doing it. Stupid farm boy... they were all the same. One of these days, she would pop this boy so hard... but she still felt a little bad about the time he had stabbed his leg, and letting him get in trouble with Aran, so she owed him a little time to be foolhardy and woolheaded. “Good. What I am teaching you is important, and believe me, I have used my training, over and over. I suggest you take your lessons seriously.â€

He nodded his head, and they continued on, some of the time riding, some of it walking. Night soon came, and it was time to set up camp. Taking the bags off of the horses, Deneira tied them both to a tree, then sat down on a log. Relaxing, she pulled out her bed roll and laid down on it. He looked at her, and she waved him off. “You had better of listened. Go get somme wood and start a fire, then get some food, cook it, and don’t forget water. Go ahead... oh yes, and I will be fine. I have my own food. You will be the one that goes hungry tonight if you mess up.â€

Smiling to herself, she settled back, pulling an apple from her bag. Waving to him as he walked off, she pulled out the letter that was in her bag. She had needed to ask Shawn to write it for her, telling him that she was busy getting her bags together. He knew the truth, but her pride blocked her from admitting it out loud. He had written it, and she smiled as Braxton walked off, knowing he was going to get a smack in the face with this one.
