  1. Moghedien is no more of a coward than Demandred, whom refuses to reveal where he is currently situated. The difference between the two and any other forsaken seen to be "cautious", for that matter (such as Graendal), is clearly power. It is lack of power that attributes to Moghedien's cautious nature. Nynaeve is stated by either RJ or BS to be average forsaken level.. meaning Moghedien HAS to be at or near the bottom for this "power grid" to make sense. *Sigh* You are being difficult. There is WAY more evidence to suggest that Moghedien is the weakest of the bunch than most of the
  2. Where are people getting the idea that Rand jumped like 10 levels ahead of himself from when he first started channeling to the current incarnation? Also, where does was it said that Rand is so much more powerful than Nynaeve's full potential? In my opinion, his power level hasn't grown THAT much considering how much "forcing" he's been doing since he started channeling. There's the time that he drew from the Eye of the World well; the time he used the CK against Asmodean; and the time he used the CK to cleanse saidin to name a few.
  3. Graendal was never cautious in touching the TP, just in unnecessarily revealing to Aran'gar that she could only touch a sliver. Anyways, isn't there a WoG quote from RJ or BS that says Semirhage felt betrayed since it requires the DO's permission to touch the TS? If your theory IS correct, there's no way he would mislead us by saying this. Instead, he would tell us to RAFO to avoid telling us something he doesn't wish us to know. This quote completely defeats your theory.
  4. Competent grasp of the OP also requires a certain degree of ability, which is not what we are discussing. You're comparing access to the TP to mental blocks that wilders develop with the OP.. and no, I did not mix up the TP and OP in the same sentence. The DO is said to directly be the source of the TP. Unlike the OP, however, there's not much discussion about the ability to channel it, if one requires it at all. All that's known is that it requires some degree of permission from the DO, whether to touch it at all, be given the ability TO channel it, or to avoid punishment from drawing fr
  5. It's between Mesaana and Moggy as to who is the weakest in the One Power, that is a fact. Every single male Forsaken was close to Rand or pre-maxed out Rand and either level is quite a few levels up on Nynaeve. Out of the female Forsaken is has been stated that Lanfear/Cyndane stands alone with Graendal and Semirhage just below her but still above or on par with Nynaeve. Pre-maxed out potential Nynaeve was on par with Moggy, she has since passed her. We were flat out told that Nynaeve is stronger than Mesaana. Therefore, it's between Mesaana and Moggy for the weakest. End of story.
  6. You're breaking the association fallacy, ignoring the fact that Nynaeve is a special circumstance. Wilders are a special circumstance because of a block that they themselves are prone to by learning to channel "wrongly". Graendal, on the other hand, and all forsaken, for that matter, are well aware of the TP and have no problem embracing it (whereas wilders do). They only need permission.
  7. You're breaking a bunch of fallacies. While your theory isn't completely out of the question, there's not evidence to suggest that it is true. What I mean is that if the TP restriction were in fact self imposed, Graendal would realize this after touching it. I imagine that rather than Graendal always having to be careful about how much of the TP she channels, that the amount that is able to wield is physically/metaphysically capped by the DO.
  8. If this were true, Graendal would have realized this when she was "given permission" to access that tiny sliver of the TP.
  9. It's been implied that she is the weakest female forsaken if not the weakest forsaken. First there's her cautious nature, which, you can argue is overlooked by the fact that she refuses to take a chance with even those who are weaker than her in the OP, such as Egwene and Elayne. There's the fact that up until the time that she was mindtrapped, she was deathly afraid of the other forsaken, choosing to watch them from the shadows rather than meet face-to-face. There's the fact that the other female forsaken spoke lowly of her. And there's the fact that an Accepted Nynaeve was able to shield her
  10. Yes it does include Forsaken. Here's the Q&A: Leaving us with, in no particular order: Graendal Lanfear/Cyndane Sharina Alivia Semirhage Talaan of the Windfinders and Someryn of the Shaido are the only other possibilities mentioned. Talaan however is more likely and even then, she is only said to be as strong as Nynaeve not stronger. With Someryn, it seems a bit of a long shot as she is only described as stronger than any current Tower AS (not including Egwene and Elayne) and Graendal describes her ability "as not inconsiderable" but still obviously still quite a bit unde
  11. It's between Moggy and Mesaana. Moggy prolly is the weaker. The thing you're forgetting is that when Nynaeve took on Moggy, Nyn was not at her full potential yet. It was stated by RJ that it takes quite while under normal circumstances to max out, any where from 5-10 years. The older someone is the faster they reach their potential and men tend to gain their strength faster than women as well. "Forced training" through rigorous power use and/or through using angreal and sa'angreal can greatly reduce that time. Around 2 years was mentioned. RJ also expressed that all 3 of Nyneave, Elayne a

  13. Hmm.. if we were to have a graphic novel, I'd want it to be not fan fiction.. If it's not canonically correct, what's the point? Second, other than the Age of Legends or War of the Shadows, I'd prefer no prequels. Third, it would have to be much more fast paced. I really don't need to look at 500 pages of pictures of Faile being whipped by the Shaido, for example.. the first 5 would be sufficient enough.
  14. As a continuing reader, yes, it's nice to look back on how simple and different they use to be. As a newly introduced reader, however, no. It wasn't exactly a "hook".. I wasn't even hooked until we found out that Nynaeve could channel (twist!). When I first started reading WoT, this slow start up almost discouraged me from reading the rest of the series.
  15. I sympathize far more with the female characters.. then again, I'm gay.
  16. I dislike the similarities that they share, therefore I dislike the character. What doesn't add up about that? People hate Egwene BECAUSE she's incredibly arrogant. She's the Amyrlin Seat, higher than King or Queen, so you say she has a reason to be? Hmmm.. Just defeated that argument. All male characters are unnecessarily untrusting. Take Rand for example. Towards the start of the series, I can understand why he wouldn't trust Aes Sedai with all the stories he's heard.. but even as the story progressed and with how much Moiraine had devoted herself into protecting him
  17. [irrelevant] Secondly, the three ta'veren could hardly be any more different. Yeah, they're all leaders and great fighters, but at least Perrin and Mat is completely different from each other in every single way. Would you mind explaining how they're alike in any way? Same with Egwene and Nynaeve, for instance. Nynaeve is passionate and emotional while Egwene is cold and rational, with Elayne somewhere in the middle. See above. Said they're all similar in some aspect, though with obvious distinguishing characteristics. Just as all the female characters are said to be arrogant to
  18. Fair enough. Lip licking in general annoys me. It annoys me twice as much as when Mat does it.. no idea why. I believe that Mat is responsible for his actions while you believe he's immune to any blame because of his upbringing... hmmm... +1.. minus Mat dying. Nynaeve is my favorite character fighting for the light and if she dies, I'm bound to make a bunch of self destructive decisions starting with the murder of a certain author for putting RJ's ideas to words. As sad as I am to admit this, her situation very closely resembles Eldrene's.. assuming Lan WILL die. I ho
  19. Umm, just curious, what do you think of Nynaeve's ultra-loyal defense of Mat when Tuon dared to speak unfavorably of him? When I first read it I was surprised by her vigor and depth of emotion, even wondered if Nynaeve was contemplating strangling Tuon with her braid... I thought it was out of character (she admitted to being helpless and needing rescue), but nearly everyone else on this site attributed it to the "nobody speaks ill of the village woolhead except me" syndrome. Pretty much the same as you.. Well, on one hand, I kind of thought it was adorable despite my obvious

As sad as I am to admit this, her situation very closely resembles Eldrene's.. assuming Lan WILL die. I hope she has better self control and doesn't go all kamikaze at the LB. Yeah, Nynaeve's prospects do not look very good. I still have a strong hope she won't die though. It would be simple cruelty from RJ/BS to make Nynaeve one of the most emotionally

  22. At first I thought you might possibly be trolling, but I now believe you're sincere in your opinion... First, I agree, until tFoH Mat is a womanizer (mostly a wanna-be womanizer though) but then he assumed command of the Band, which forced him into being increasingly responsible and thinking of his friends/followers first and his pleasure/amusement second. But why do you suppose he might have been tempted to "sample" the female companionship outside of the Two Rivers in the first place? Don't you think his reputation as the biggest scoundrel/slacker in Emond's Field (possibly the Two Riv
  23. To each their own, of course, but the Mat in tEotW and tGH is not the same Mat as in the rest of the series. Mat in tEotW is, for the vast majority of the book, under the influence of the dagger. That is, he is being driven insane through paranoia and hatred. In tGH, he only has a few weeks left to live and if he doesn't get the dagger back, he will die. You don't truly get to see Mat until he wakes up in the Tower post-Healing in tDR. For instance, my SO is currently going through her first read-through, and she couldn't stand Mat in the first book. And he was just annoying in the second.
  24. I've been bored with some of Elayne's story arcs, sure, but I've never ever hated on her. Mat, on the other hand, I can't stand. He needs to die. Now. Hmm.. maybe it's just that Elayne is completely overshadowed by Egwene since I tend to rate Nynaeve, Elayne, and Egwene relative to each other. Anyways, I enjoy Egwene's arcs.. mostly can't stand her.. don't mind Elayne.. story arcs are meh.. can't stand Mat or his storylines. I basically skipped all of his arcs. ALL of them.
