Michelle Horn with her copy of Eye of the World and with my advanced copy of Towers of Midnight. The photo was made in my (Wilson's) office. Tom sent Jim a framed print of the cover art for Eye. He forgot that he'd already done so. Jim gave me one of the two, shown behind Michelle, about 2 months before he died. It's never coming down.

  6. Dragonmount is pleased to present an extensive behind-the-scenes feature describing the entire filmmaking process for the the trailer. It includes written commentary, video interviews, storybaord animatics, before-and-after shots from the film, and tons photos. 7. Tor.com and Orbit UK have posted chapter one of Towers of Midnight online for free. The chapter is entitled "Apples First". This chapter brings the total number of available chapters for the book to three. The prologue was released as an eBook several weeks ago and can be purchased online. Chapter 7 (the first Mat point-of-view chapter) was made available recently on Brandon Sanderson's website, and can also be read right here on Dragonmont. You can read chapter 1, "Apples First", on Tor.com in its entirety. In addition, Orbit Books in the U.K. has posted the same chapter. You can v

  9. TarValon.Net has just posted information on this year's recipient of the Robert Jordan Memorial Scholarship. Christopher Lipnickas, a Psychology major at Wichita State University, is receiving the $500 award based on his essay "How I plan to use my studies to become a Servant of All." His goal is to become a substance abuse counselor, inspired by the suffering his family went through after his father became addicted to prescription pain medications. For more information about the winner, an interview, and copies of the winning and finalist essays, head over to TarValon.Net's new website.
  10. The Gathering Storm, book twelve of The Wheel of Time, is now available in paperback form in the U.S. from Tor Books. TGS was the first book in the series published after Robert Jordan's death. It was written in large part by fantasy author Brandon Sanderson. If you are among the fans who were waiting for the paperback to pick up a copy, here's your chance. 11. Thank you for everyone's patience and understanding. My review has been approved (for the "spoilers") and posted http://www.dragonmount.com/index.php/News/tom/i-have-read-towers-of-midnight-r36 I realize some of the stuff I had written down in my draft caused some stir. Basically it was just left over from my initial brain dump of ideas. And apparently too I am still learning about how this news / forums software works. I've reported the bug to the people who made it. If you guys have questions about what I said in my review (even the draft version), drop me an email. I cannot, o
  12. About a year ago, you and I and the rest of the Wheel of Time fan base were eagerly awaiting the release of The Gathering Storm, the twelfth book in the series, and the first one written in large part by Brandon Sanderson, the relatively unheard-at-the-time fantasy writer who was chosen to complete Robert Jordan's epic. The burning question back then was, "Can Brandon deliver?". The answer was nearly unanimous amongst fans: not only did he deliver a good Wheel of Time book, but he delivered one of the most exciting Wheel of Time books yet. The book was a smash success, and by and large fans
  13. Hi guys, This is really bad. I've removed my review thread from the forums. My review was NOT complete when it got posted there. What you saw was an extremely early draft. Our new forum software has a bug in it and I did not realize it posted an incomplete copy to the forums. It's very embarrassing, especially given the rambling notes I left for myself. Please disregard anything I said there. It's not a fair representation of the book, and (as you could see) was just a bunch of my own rambling written down. My final review is complete now, but awaiting approval on spoilers I incl
  14. Distinctions, the prologue to TOWERS OF MIDNIGHT, the thirteenth book in the Wheel of Time series, is now available for purchase in eBook format in the United States. It's available in ebook format and available for all the major readers. The cost is $2.99 US. Here's the product description: In the prologue, titled Distinctions, Lan Mandragoran rides on toward death; Perrin Aybara, Lord Goldeneyes, has a disturbing dream; Galad leads the Whitecloaks into harm’s way; one who has left humanity behind creeps through the Blight; and the Blight border faces invasion. Towers of Midnight wil
  15. We've been given all the information for the Towers of Midnight book tour. As with The Gathering Storm tour, the events will kick off with a midnight release party in Provo, UT. Then the tour begins on the West Coast in Sacramento, CA (Dragonmount.com's home town!) and will conclude in New York City on November 8th. The tour this time will be shorter than last year's due in part to the fact that Brandon just had another recent tour (completed this week) for The Way of Kings, his latest solo novel. But there's a special surprise: Harriet will be attending every one of the book tour events!
  16. "The only thing better than a double-cross is a triple-cross" Ladies and gentlemen, we have successfully out-foxed the master Aelfinn (Brandon) and received the answers to 20 questions! Here's what happened. Around 4 PM U.S. Pacific Time yesterday, Brandon challenged Dragonmount and Theoryland to compete against each other to find the last hidden clue in his GREAT HUNT. He encouraged us to fight over the bragging right. But we had other plans. He said each site could submit (5) Yes/No questions. Brandon was giving clues to where the codes were --really obscure clues-- and his as

  18. As many of you noticed, when we switched over to the new Dragonmount website, the links to the 4th Age podcast disappeared. Don't worry though. The podcast is not gone. It will be back very soon. As a matter of fact, Virginia and her podcast team have some exciting things ahead for you. Tomorrow, for instance, they'll be recording a show with Maria and Alan from Team Jordan. Once that show is edited and uploaded, you can find links to it right here or via iTunes. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience. Thanks for listening.
  19. Hi Cindy, Thanks for the feedback. Sorry you're having a negative experience so far. Like you, I can get frustrated with new things that don't work as I want them to. So your input is perfectly valid. Feel free to email us a webmaster@dragonmount.com with some specific parts of the site that aren't working for you. What specifically is not working as well? It is our intention that you need to be logged in in order to post. It cuts down on the amount of spam. Thanks! Jason
