  1. I can think of several scenarios, but my personal favorite is this:

Demandred realizes that Rand went to Shayol Ghul, and so Demandred actually attempts to follow him, traveling to an area nearby the battle at Shayol Ghul, because travelling in there would be suicide. As he approaches, Demandred runs into Fain, and he has some form of cataclysmic three way fight with Padin Fain and his crazed minions and the Light armies. Even with Mat bringing the forces from Merillor to help, the Light has almost no chance. Fain Mashadar's most of the people in Demandred's circle, and almost ends up getting Demandred himself by using his own circle of 72 against him, and he manages to destroy sakarnen/blow it out of Demandred's grip. In the last moments, as he is distracted with killing Demandred, Fain is stabbed in the back by Mat. Demandred, now weakened, is brought down by other circles/flees.

That would have fixed the issue about fain being lackluster in the end and would be interesting from Demandreds pov to see his reaction to mashadar and if he understands it at all.

  2. I saw alot of dissapointment in the Demandred thread on the way Lan was the one to kill Demandred, while i didnt mind it and thought it fit quite well others wanted him dead by the power and not a simple sword fight. How would you have rathered he died?

Remember he's in a circle of 72 with sakarnen!

edit forgot about the spoiler title could a Mod please change it.

  3. The sharan should have more chanellers i mean they breed ayyad, at age 16 they bed their male channelers with their female channelers so they should have had more aes sedai considering they breed and aes sedai had no males to reproduce with.

Also wasnt half the seanchan still in seanchan cause of the trouble with the succession

  4. I started reading and did not stop.

Not everything happened exactly how I wanted it to or had envisioned it over the past 18 years, but that makes it a good book.  A story that we can predict is a boring story.  The world RJ created is not a fairytale world made up of too-good-to-be-trues and happily-ever-afters.

I really loved that Rand understood at the end that there could be no "good" without "evil", no "light" without "darkness", that it is our free will and our ability to choose that creates our humanity.

Demandred and the Sharan were brilliant.  I'm sure there will be a lot more backstory in the upcoming Encylopedia.  If they had tried to put much more explanation - Shara, Fain, Slayer, etc etc etc - into this book it would've had to be split again.  I thought Sanderson did a nice job typing up lose threads, considering how many there were.

It tore me apart when Egwene died.  She's always been my favorite character, perhaps because I felt I was growing up with her (I started reading tWoT when I was 12), though she did disappoint me with her narrow-mindedness in this book.  But to be so incredibly young, to have fought so hard against so many foes and succeeding - chaised by trollocs, fleeing Shagar Logoth, captured by Whitecloaks, captured by the Seanchan, chaising darkfriends, surviving the Waist, being propped up as Amyrlin, being beaten repeatedly by Elaida, securing the Tower, beating Maseana, facing the Seanchan in Battle, cleansing the Tower, gaining the respect of the Sitters and the rulers - and finally being married to the flawed but wonderful man she loved, only to face his death so soon and fight to kill one of the Forsaken because there was no one else to do it.  Her life was cut so short.  No matter what anyone says about her whining in the first books (she was like 17, for goodness sake!) or stubborness or faults, she had the courage and determination of a lion and she gave all of herself to whatever her task was.  I found her death the greatest tragedy.

Avienda being crippled was also a big "why" to me, except that perhaps RJ wanted each of the characters to persevere through the loss of what they considered their identity, their core.  Avienda and her agility, Perrin going to Dragonmount even when he believed Faile to be lost, Matt facing the dagger (though his was a bit less intense for me).

I agree the reunion scenes between Moraine and Lan / Suian were missed.

And, if Alanna could so easily get rid of the bond with Rand, why did she do it as soon as she realized the Shadow was going to use her against him? She had to wait till the last possible moment? That doesn't seem very Aes Sedai noble...

And I have to say, even after reading through the RJ-written books, I got very little to no clues about the Moiraine / Thom connection.  Anyone else?

Oh and anyone else think that Birgette is being reborn as Elayne's daughter?

There are a lot of unanswered questions -

What exactly WILL happen with the throne of Saldea?  If Faile takes the throne, do they split their time between the Two Rivers and Saldea? Elayne was trying to prevent that with the rule about the kids...

Casuane knows Rand lives; will she, as Amyrlin, ever call on him? for what?

How WILL the Three decide to share Rand?

I also missed Nyneave's reaction when Lan was struck down fighting Demandred.  WAS he dead, or just mortally wounded?  Did Rand bring him back from the dead or just Heal him?  Nyneave's reaction would've told us.

What is the future of the Aeil?

Where was Morgase during all this? What happens to her now?

What the heck did all of Verin's letters say?

Will Min go back to the Seanchan to be Tuon's TruthSpeaker, or not?

Will Logain be the Tamyrlin? How will that hierarchy be set up?

What was the "onyx" fist vision Min had actually referring to?

Was Rand lighting his pipe at the end showing he could Will the Pattern / affect the world through his will? he couldn't do that when he could channel, so it was a bit confusing exactly what that meant

Who will be the new Prince of the Sword?

Will Galad and Berelain wed (assuming Galad survived) and how will the Whitecloaks fit into the New Age?

WHO THE HECK WAS NAKIMA AND HOW/WHERE DID SHE APPEAR TO RAND AS HE LEFT THE BORE?

Letting it digest for a bit then reading it again to really absorb everything.  It's such a surprisingly powerful feeling, having it finished.  I feel at once painfully sad that a part of my life as ended and finally complete that our story has come to a close.  It's amazing how BOOKS and CHARACTERS can play such a profound role in our lives.  It's a bit silly, really.

    Oh well.

Morgase was revealed in the last pages among the supply groups i think cant remember.

Pretty sure the onxy hand was moridin taking callandor and then rand forcing a circle with him.

  5. All I can think about is how much I wish RJ would have been able to finish the series himself.  Imagine how great it would have been.

I disagree i think the things i didnt like was the plot of how it ended and that was all jordan, the unanswered questions was all from the notes where jordan said leave this open.

Also if jordan had done it i dontt think we would have had a trilogy but probably 2 books and the fight scenes wouldnt have been as epic. I loved all the fight scenes demandred reveal flying around in a circle with a saarangreal, full proper circles the new sanangreal egwenes death, the 4 battlefronts with each great captain and grendals compulsion then the final stand with mat, mat and rand meeting. i Loved all the red herrings that tricked so many people and the roedral scene. the merrilor argument was one of my favourites too with elaynes quote "come in try the soup". I loved how finally the aes sedai done things right with their battle tactics, healing hospital greys for travelling then the rest on the front lines.

Few things i wish we had. Siuan reunion moiraine, more moiraine, explanation to the letters of verrin, the seanchan taking sharan prisoners and a bit more explanation into their hierarchy, rand fighting someone in a proper channel battle aka demandred. The whole colours thing didnt mean much i was expecting something good to happen when they all reunited. Lack of nyneave. Lack of black tower in the last battle i wish it would have been good white/black tower vs darkfriend/black/white and then sean chan vs sharans.

Overall my favourite book in the series and thats when i was rushing through the book trying to get to the end.

    My new ordr is probably:

    MOL

    TGS

    LOC

    WH

Also i think that the absolute die hard fans (the ones that spent theorising most of their day here luckers, terez etc) will not be satisfied because of all the open ends and the fact that they spent so much time trying to crack the nakomi, prophecy of shadow, mins viewings etc to end up with no answer/totally different interpretation then what they expected.

  6. is it implied that meilyn killed larelle? or could she still be alive just not used again?

Merean Redhill, do you mean? Yes, that would be my guess, but we don't know for sure. Either way, as you say, Larelle hasn't turned out anywhere since.

Or possibly she was also Black and hunting the Dragon, and that is why she hasn't turned up--because like Moiraine she was out in the world hunting for Rand.

I wonder if this might not have been the subject matter of the Moiraine prequel. We know it dealt with why Moiraine was able to get to the Two Rivers 'just in time' [indicating there was a specific reason of significant enough drama for a story]. We also know she thought she had 'stolen a march on the Shadow'.

Maybe Larelle resurfaced. Moiraine investigated due to her long absence and connection to Merean, providing the drama (hunting the Black Ajah), and in the process Larelle gave Moiraine a clue that they themselve didn't understand--for instance the story of a Second Captain of the Companions finding a child, or something like that. Larelle and the Black Ajah go off investigating in Illian, but Moiraine through her own investigations already knows the Second Captain was from Emmond's Field.... or some such.

Moiraine gets the right clue to get her there just in time, and thinks she's stolen a march on the shadow, and some intrigue to make a story....

wow i never thought of that or considered that she would have been used for the 3rd prequel that would make a lot of sense.

Well we also know that moiraine was in the tower as late as 3 years before finding rand in the two rivers, and verin did say she had some clues that siuan moiraine were looking for rand. Im not upto date with interviews etc with harriet and brandon if the last 2 prequels arent written has it been confirmed that we will get the information on the plot for the 3rd prequel/ why moiraine headed to the two rivers in the encyclopedia?

  7. i'm pretty sure the changes in pronunciation were just mistakes.

i recall hearing/reading something about RJ not really interacting with the audio-book readers much after the first book. don't remember where, though, but it makes sense, considering the outcome.

yep your right, robert jordan was very direct when it came to the pronounciations of his characters and eventually got into contact with the audio book readers hence the change around book 6ish.

anyone here actually not read the books but listened to the books? ive only read the first book but with university, 6 hours of work a day and in my party years i have a limited time for reading so i just listen for 4 hours a day at work, i found on my 2nd listen through that you pick up on alot more or maybe its just i missed something when someone was talking to me.

  8. HAHA yes kates voice for gawyn and elayne makes them sound extremely posh and british, but i think she does an execellent job. Yea the rhuidean(sp) i have noticed changed alot. at the start it was Roi-a-dean. I cannot stand michael's loial voice it makes me cringe.

Question how is Lan mandragoran supose to be pronounced? in the audio books kate and michael both pronounce it man-dragoran where in this video

    brandon pronounces it man-dragoooran?

i like kates voice of tarabon and saldean aes sedai tho.

  9. Hehe ive thought about it.

Is it just me or deos Kramer changes the accent he uses for Taraboners half way through the series?

He uses some french accent now.

lol haha ive noticed it, kates tarabon voice sounds like she put a peg on her nose. ive never actually read a wheel of time book just listen to them while im at work on my 2nd listen through.

  10. Does anyone else find perrin extremely annoying in the Ebooks, michael kramer when impersonating perrin slows his voice down and makes him sound really slow and dim witted, then again i dont like the character in general he spends the whole first half of the series whingeing that Faile doesnt love him or is angry at him and every time it comes to his perspective he just talks about his beard 3 to 4 times. The only book ive found him tolerable is TOM and TGS.

  11. Lan fear says there is 2 but she only knows that 1 is still around and since shes been locked up for 3000 years and moraine has all the knowledge of aes sedai and the white tower we can assume that moraine is right.

Actually it's the other way around, except for some recently invented weaves that didn't exist in the AoL, The Forsaken are continuously shown to know far more about the power than modern Aes Sedai.

Your saying that you think that lan fear would know more about what had happened to all the items of the one power when she was inprisoned in a sleep for 3000 years over the amyrlin seat of the white tower who have been keeping tabs and collecting items of the one power since its forming.

In our reading time of 2 years 2 sar angreal have been destroyed, with the obvious 100,000s of items of the one power that would have been destroyed during the breaking and lost over the next 3000 years and lan fear not knowing if it existed, and assuming during the breaking the women aes sedai would have tryed to destroy any male sar angreal they could find to stop the mad male aes sedai from destroying the world with it (couldnt do this with callandor cause it wasnt able to be touched besides the dragon).

Lan fear said she knows there were 2 more powerful 1 that still exists, so she doesnt even know if the other survived the breaking.

  12. ..... you've been waiting 9 books for that the 2 stronger sar'angreal are the female and male choden'kal's, your wait is over.

That a male can use...

Also, is there any insight about my question concerning whether the sul'dam/damane link will work if the sul'dam is shielded or carrying one of the imperfect foxhead medallions?

“The Sword That Cannot Be Touched is a sa'angreal, girl. Only two more powerful were ever made, and thank the Light, neither of those was ever used. With Callandor in your hands, child, you could level a city at one blow.”

There is the quote.

in book 3 siuan says there are only 2 more powerful sar angreal in the world besides callandor without making any reference to it being male only.

  14. In the SR, Lanfear tells Rand that there are only two things that are more powerful Callindor. So one I think is the ko'denkal or however you spell it and whats the other one?

We have no idea, hasn't been revealed, not yet anyway

Believe me, people have been waiting for it for 9 books now heh
