  1. Haven't been on in a few days but I am very impressed with the Lini quote list. Nicely done! What else folks? What about quotes from Thom, Egwene, Nyn...? Any takers?
  2. Dude, I dropped it. Don't be a douche.
  3. So who thinks Rand and Egwene will hookup? Will min be in on it...? Will Gawyn? How much mulled wine will it take....? Hmmmmmm a topic of greater interest
  4. A recurve of 50lb draw is 50 lb regardless of material and the weights are very similar so using a modern fibo as a correlate to trad layered wood composite is acceptable in this instance. Perhaps you will now bring up that it is not, in fact, a trad gut string they are using to fire the alum arrow and that will throw off their shot.... the idea is that a normal strength person can achieve great accuracy with skill so please stop squatting all over the idea of Birgitte as a believable archer. And I'm done. Back to Rand & Egwene please
  5. Leave them to it and attack the places they've left scantily defended. agreed, but I think it lacks something....I am the DO/Forsaken afterall...
  6. read my post again....I think you will find you are just agreeing with me....
  7. oh, and heres a u tube or two....demonstrating SKILL over strength.... the next one is widely considered to be the best recurve archer in the world (m or f) and SHE is amazing... and she is tiny... hmmmmmmmmm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCd7YBiV1U8
  8. wow, meaning to be offensive or not, you def hit your target dubba. What does anything I said have to do with comp. trad. archery... Oh, yeah, nothing. I simply refuted your need to assert strength as the one trait which separates a good archer from a poor archer... If that were the correlation, I would be frakkin awesome at it. Its skill. The picture provided was hilarious btw...that woman needs to tuck those in...mess up her aim those will ;) http://www.dreamstime.com/photos-stock-cible-femelle-de-sport-d-archer-image98053 http://fotosa.ru/ru/stock/search.asp?ID=1717519 http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/56024/56024,1249667010,1/stock-photo-young-beautiful-female-archer-with-arch-and-arrow-34896145.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-34896145/stock-photo-young-beautiful-female-archer-with-arch-and-arrow.html&usg=__n3ZOnFHkAZa2jqfRWCSW7i-KaGw=&h=320&w=450&sz=44&hl=en&start=191&zoom=0&tbnid=Fq9WF56uPODj5M:&tbnh=90&tbnw=127&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfemale%2Barcher%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1260%26bih%3D506%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C4954&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=832&vpy=117&dur=3525&hovh=90&hovw=127&tx=82&ty=54&oei=YPDiTIqVM4H68AaZ_Pi0DQ&esq=7&page=13&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:191&biw=1260&bih=506 http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https://www.bowsandarrowsonline.com/images/mainpagepic.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.shoponline2011.com/m~c-guitar-bass~b-521900~f-294299-467695.aspx&usg=__3ym7-mGNf9ZkexTByhViYOAk6gk=&h=384&w=256&sz=24&hl=en&start=103&zoom=1&tbnid=TAiq_OUe1tbUPM:&tbnh=174&tbnw=116&prev=/images%3Fq%3Drecurve%2Barchery%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26gbv%3D2%26biw%3D1260%26bih%3D506%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C3634&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=848&vpy=124&dur=59&hovh=275&hovw=183&tx=77&ty=164&ei=_vPiTOq7DoOdlgfx8sHnDg&oei=0_PiTNy-IML-8Aai8eWTDg&esq=12&page=10&ndsp=11&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:103&biw=1260&bih=506 eh...duh...
  9. Thank you thank you thank you ROFL My thoughts on the subject: By sealing the DO prison, both sides of the OP (and maybe the TP) will be used and in doing so, the powers will be lost/shut off. How/why? I haven't a clue. I just think it will go this way. If the cycle of ages is approx 21k yrs (3k/age as given for the 3rd age as a constant, I know... how do we know all ages are 3k...we don't but it is a good estimate), it is def. probable that there are times when there is no use or knowledge of the OP/TP. I say this because the DO had been completely forgotten by the time of the 2nd age. I find this hard to fathom as one would think that knowledge of this eternal being would be forever passed on to children and linked to the use of the OP/TP. If the DO is defeated and locked back into that scab of a prison (as he was found in the 2nd age), then why would the OP continue to live on as it would not be needed for many thousands of years to defeat him again. Perhaps, to balance the equation, the pattern NEEDS time without the OP in order to provide it when needed? The pattern is about balance after all...And what better time to take a break than after his most recent imprisonment...? enough rambling...
  10. As RJ and BS are both now famous for saying "RAFO" (read and find out!) Congrats on pickin this series up. It will certainly be good reading while you recover. Thank you so much for protecting this country of ours.
  11. The AS damane would not be able to break the oaths. However, as stated earlier in the thread, an AS can use the OP in last defense of their lives, if the AS is told that they will be killed if they do not comply then there is something to work with. It ALL depends on the AS. She has to believe in her decision that what it is she is doing is in defense of her life. The focus of said 'attack' is not required to be the the threat. The oath never states that. AS twistery yes but do-able. But very difficult to get the AS to comply i think.
  12. it doesn't require nearly as much as you think...the myth/notion that one draws an arrow to cheek and holds it for longer than 3 secs is absurd. As one who owns and regularly uses a 75lb recurve (a non mechanical, classic bow) and bench presses close to 270 lbs, I can tell you that you draw, aim, and release within 3 secs. There is no holding....you get shaky and completely innacurate. So just to contradict your statement, no great feats of strength are required beyond the initial draw. I am, as I said earlier, a traditional/primitive bowyer and a competitive archer. Perhaps I should re-phrase: It requires great physical strength to be ANY GOOD AT traditional archery. I have seen many archers who have much less strength than I and they are very good at what they do...I'm talking targets at 50+ yrds...and, again, are doing so without more than a 3 sec hold. I'm sorry, but I do not agree that to be an archer you need great strength. To be a great archer, you simply need normal strength and great skill.
