  1. https://ew.com/tv/the-wheel-of-time-season-2-first-look-photos-premiere-date/ Over on DM's Discord, someone called "Lynx of Time" dropped the above link to this EW link.
  2. @Lightfriendsocialmistress There is a guide here, on how to put things behind spoilers. As of now, I have marked this thread as full book spoilers, so it's currently a "read at your own risk" topic, so you don't have to worry about using spoiler tags.
  3. Updated the spoiler policy - Hopefully this is more clear.
  4. Uh yeah, that 100% should have been put in spoiler code if only because it's a very late book spoiler. This topic is about the actor who was cast as Verin, and not specifically about her plot in the books or how her character will be written in the show.
  5. If he's wearing a hair piece in the 1st season, it's plausible it's in the last 2 episodes that needed reshooting after Covid. I feel like Barney (Matrim) told him he could shave his head after filming the first 6 episodes, and it was an "Oh shit" moment when he realized they still needed to film episodes 7&8.
  6. It may not affect Season 2 directly, as I believe it's in post production right now and... it's likely to release sometime™ this year. Indirectly, anyone in the guild can't promote it, talk about their work, put it up for nominations, etc. Season 3, will be both directly and indirectly affected. Let's say all the scripts are completed, they can continue doing work on S3 barring any rewrites. Since Rafe is a writer, he might be a guild member. If he is, he may not be able to work on the show at all even though he's a showrunner. Depending on the structure of everything, if he can't work on it, it's possible no one can. If it's compartmentalized enough, then people can. Set & costume designers can go nuts for months working on the stuff they need to work on. Stunt coordinators can keep stuntin', and directors/actors can shoot some scenes, or even get some post-production in. S4, is going to be hugely impacted... depending on how long this lasts.
  7. Scenes I was looking forward to that I wished we saw in the tv series Rand going Nuclear at the eye of the world. Hopper munching on a white cloak Scenes added that I enjoyed that weren't in the books Yeeting Egwene off a cliff Logain's scenes Blood Snow Nynaeve killing a Trolloc
  8. No. It shouldn't be that hard to understand the concept that characters can simulateously tell the truth, while the knowledge they have is false... Which is literally a theme of the books... Then again, there are a staggering number of people that believe everything they see and hear on TV, and can't identify false information (propaganda) when they see it, while also believing the other side is just a woke gay agenda...
  9. Yes, and that goes back to animated adaptation is just better for this book series, than a live action version. And a lot of people didn't need the animated shorts to enjoy this TV show, hell many don't even know they exist. To add to this, the book purists may derive more joy out of the tv series by watching the shorts, because the shorts will massage their fears that the show is changing to much. Example: IF you dislike the TV Show because it didn't explain what Saidar & Saidin are, and thusly fear it is getting rid of the two halves of the one power. Watching the shorts may allow you to enjoy the show because now you know they aren't removing Saidar & Saidin. For me, it is not a failure of the show to include extra material in the form of 2-3 minute long exposition dumps that better explain the intricacies of the world building that might not appeal to the average viewer.
  10. The Matrix got "animated shorts", to explain the machine uprising. A lot of movies and TV shows have "extra features" on their DVD, they include behind the scenes footage, and sometimes they include extra stuff that expands the lore in some way. Hell, look at Lord of the Rings if you want to get into "extra features"... In fact, the Wheel of Time (and the lord of the rings!) also have supplementary books (BWB & Companion) to explain the books. Should we say the books are bad, because need books to explain the books?
  11. You laugh, but an animated series would have arguably been the best medium for the Wheel of Time.
  12. The animated shorts are cannon to the show, you may disagree but they are. They're also arguably the best part of the show. Covid, is actually a really good explanation for how it impacted the number of people that could appear on screen. The alternative would to have been to wait until 2023 to release season 1. And the "You don't like the LGBTQ+" is only a factor, when someone starts going on about how the show is being ruined by "the gay agenda".
  13. Everything before that still stands. The sarcasm is because some of ya'll really want to die on that anti-lgbtq hill, and blame everything you don't like on it. So I may as well throw out an argumentum ad absurdum, to highlight how ridiculous it sounds to everyone else. You can, but then how do you make room for the dragon mystery? /s Perhaps he did say that to Amazon, by highlighting a lot of the legitimate negative feedback the show has received? And that's why Season 2 is getting more run time? Maybe that's why S2 is taking so damn long? Either way, the world building we got, wasn't about the magic system. The World Building we got, (aside from the characters), was a handful of important locations. (Shadar Logoth, Tar Valon, The Ways), the factions. (White Tower, Warders, White Cloaks, Two Rivers), The power conflicts within and between those factions. We also got world building in the form of foreshadowing (Moiraine/Lan, book 4, Rand and his ability to alter Reality, etc), we got it in the form of themes. Trauma, Grief, PTSD, Duty, Trust/Truth/Lies, Friendship & Betrayal, Good & Evil, and most importantly, unreliable Narrator, and imperfect knowledge from a faction that believes they know everything, with facts being manipulated by the shadow and their agents of chaos.
  14. Or, and bear with me on this for a moment; The first season was a character driven story that was more about character building, then world building. Throughout the first season. We met with Characters, that are going to be the driving force of the series for the foreseeable future. Those characters, are going to be the vehicle with which they go about building the world with in the following season(s). We know, that next season, we're going to get some of the girls in the Tower, learning the OP. That sounds exactly like the kind of place they're going to teach the viewers how the magic system works. It's akin to how we learn more about how magic works, every time Harry Potter started a new year at Hogwarts. Similarly, we're going to learn more about the various cultures, as the characters split up, and go to different parts of the world. Or, I guess we could just wallow in self flagellation that the IP is going to be ruined by an overly woke lgbt gay agenda, and gawk as the show slowly devolves into a trans musical opera about the hardships of transwomen reading in southern libraries. Whatever floats everyone's boats.
  15. Episode 7? When we see Rand's POV from the waygate, we see his weaves, but no one, not even Moiraine saw them.
  16. Ever heard of an unreliable narrator? Again, they talk about the two halves in the animated shorts.
  17. This talking point keeps coming up and it's simply not true. The tv show didn't merge the one power into a single power, they just didn't explain the intricacies of the one power in the first season of the live action show. The two halves of the one power are briefly talked about in the animated shorts that come with the TV series on Amazon. They are cannon to the tv show.
