I really enjoyed this one. His best work since Warbreaker at least; better than at least the second and third of the Mistborn trilogy. On par with the first in a lot of ways.

Well I started The Hero of Ages. I am already disappointed with Elend. I barely liked him in the first place to be honest but now.. it just seems.. wrong, like everything Vin did in the previous books have been cheapened. I can only hope it's still Vin's story and try to ignore anything Elend does directly with Allomancy.

I actually agree though. But don't worry, Elend is never on the same level as Vin. Take Breeze as an example. No doubt that Vin and Kelsier were both stronger than he was. But he was still better at soothing than they are. Elend to Vin is similar- powerful, but he never really gets up to snuff with them, and so much of Allomancy isn't raw power but how you use it.

ETA: Also, I've totally began Malazan. So far it's alright but the writing style is kind of grating on me. I think that has to do with reading it immediately after A Dance with Dragons, which uses a highly introspective and personal style.

I began A Dance with Dragons today. It's damned good so far.

I am giving Mistborn another read-through, as I've only read it once.

Ah Goodkind. Worldbuilding from WoT, thematic content from Ayn Rand, sexual content for BDSM Weekly... and what does he bring to the mix? Richard and Kahlan get seperated and reunited. Rinse and repeat. Oh, and add a chicken-which-isn't-a-chicken.

 

I'd be less contemptuos if he hadn't told a fourteen year old that he 'was afraid of the truth' because he wanted more sword-fights and less Richard giving speeches to strawmen in the later books.

Personally I consider Taim the secret 14th Forsaken. He was sealed in the corner of Shayol Ghul no one thought to check :D

Not if the person creating and/or wearing the a'dam doesn't realize that perhaps. But I'm not an authority on the matter.

Second possibility is that it blocks entry but not a person actually being there after the fact.
