This will fit nicely on my WoT paperback shelf. Hope they print the chapter titles on each page again like the first 11 books...

I wouldn't mind seeing more alternate versions of cover art like they showed for ACoS.
There are only a few WoT covers by Sweet that I actively dislike, and the TPoD cover is a large part of the reason why I started reading the series in the first place. It made me take the book off the shelf, I read the 'let the dragon ride again on the winds of time' quote, then I looked for the name of book 1 and bought it.

While the Cleansing of Saidin was superb, my favorite part of WH was Mat's plan to get out of Ebou Dar. After an entire book without him he was back in top form here.
After cobbling together a pretty darn good plan so many things happen in the last hours that could utterly destroy it, but actually end up helping things in the long run (although we don't know that!). The Queen returns early (and he offers to take her along!), the mad gamble with the Sea Folk Windfinder, Egeanin claiming to Mat's chagrin that she was good at adapting when she found something for Joline's warders to do, Juilin having to reconvince Thera, Mat's hilarious fight with Tuon... Noal showing up just at the right time even though he was the one person Mat forgot about...
I kept thinking 'what can possibly happen next?' and then he unwittingly started a marriage ceremony with the future Empress of Seanchan.
Bravo, Robert Jordan!

My favorite Lan and Moiraine moment, hmm? Though the docks of Cairhien is hard to beat as a Moiraine moment, I would say that my favorite of them together is in TEOTW Chapter 41 'Old Friends and New Threats' where Mat is in his and Rand's room at The Queen's Blessing. Moiraine touched his knee and he slashed at her with the dagger.
'One minute Lan was in the doorway, and the next he was at the bedside, as if he had not bothered with the intervening space. His hand caught Mat's wrist, stopping the slash as if it had struck stone. Still Mat held himself in that tight ball. Only the hand with the dagger tried to move, straining against the Warders' implacable grip. Mat's eyes never left Moiraine, and they burned with hate.
Moiriane also did not move. She did not flinch from the blade only inches from her face, as she had not when he first struck.'
Any description of this scene other than the actual quote from the book doesn't do its awesomeness justice.

This chapter made a few of the Perrin ones in TGS seem superfluous. Had they been left out and this one kept right where it is I think we'd have lost little, and had less of the same stuff people seem to dislike about Perrin. What I like least at this point is the 12+ day wait to read chapter 3 and the rest :) Thanks for the early release whomever is responsible :)

Great review, Jason. Your review for TGS was a large part of why I became a member of Dragonmount, and if this review is as accurate in portraying how I will feel about ToM as the TGS one was, then I'm in for a treat I think come Nov. 2. What you say about Mat makes me all the more optimistic. 'redefines the very meaning of Awesome'... well, I couldn't ask for more from my favorite character of the series!
Thanks for whetting our appetite all the more with a good review, and also thanks for all your hard work you do for Dragonmount and the community!

The cover of 'The Path of Daggers' is half of the reason why I started reading WoT, and is still one of my favorite covers for any book. It's a shame he was unable to finish this series with his covers (both good and not so good). His artwork was a huge contribution to the fantasy fiction genre, and he will be missed.
