Hi, everyone! I'm feeling great today and hope you're all feeling great too.

Most people enjoy talking about couples from The Wheel of Time, and the denizens of our General Wheel of Time Discussion forum are no exception. Which couples make such odd, awkward, or terribly matched pairs that you just want to bang your head against the wall in frustration? Let us know what you think.

It's getting closer and closer to this year's Dragon*Con! If you're going, please stop by this thread in our Meets and Conventions board to let us know. It's nice to get an idea of who is going, and it will give newbies to the Con an idea of who will be around to help if they feel lost or confused.

The Black Tower Social Group has posted a speculative thread where they are musing about what might happen to the Black Tower in and after A Memory of Light. Be forewarned that there will probably be some spoilers in the thread.

It's Book Month at the Kin Social Group! Some of this month's events include discussions about what you like to read, your favorite Wheel of Time books, and urban fantasy. Follow the guide in this thread to keep track of all the events.

There have been some updates to the This Is Some Rescue role play since I last featured it here. It's one of the main plotline role plays, so be sure to check it out if you haven't already.

Welcome back, everyone!

Someone from our General Wheel of Time Discussion forum posted this humorous gem about Egwene and Rand talking to a therapist. Can you imagine Egwene in Rand in therapy together? I think it would be fun to have them as patients.

If you're looking for some entertainment, check out the Band of the Red Hand Social Group's Jak o' the Shadows thread. There are tons of great verses in there, and you can write some of your own if you're so inclined.

It's time for the Black Tower Social Group's latest edition of the Tainted Times! They've got a lot to talk about, so drop in and see what's been happening in their group this month.

Speaking of newsletters, the Wolfkin Social Group also has their August edition up. See what they have to say in their latest version of Pawprints.

Also, speaking of Wolfkin, our role players just started a new story featuring Wolfkin characters. Head over and follow To Break the Silence to see what unfolds.

Now that we've rung in the month of August--or should I say wrung, which is what I did to my shirt after sweating outside today--let's take a look at the new forum events.

If you love playing mafia games on our Mafia Games forum, you'll probably love the upcoming Operation Domination game. Players can pretend to be various Admins and Staff members from Dragonmount, and the goal is to take over the site. (Fortunately for us, the winners don't really get to take over. I'm sure it's fun pretending, though.) Hurry and sign up while you still can. Make sure to read the rules in the sign-up thread and the forum rules before playing.

The Aiel Social Group is discussing the elderly for the month of August. What is the place of the elderly in your culture?

The Black Tower Social Group will soon begin hosting their own Summer Olympics. All factions from the group will battle against each other in several entertaining contests. More information can be found in this thread.

Speaking of the Olympics, the Wolfkin Social Group has decided to tackle the topic of sports for August. What sports do you like and dislike? Would you rather play them or watch them? These questions and more are addressed in the thread.

Stay tuned for more updates next week!

It's time for another roundup!

Here's a fun topic from our General Wheel of Time Discussion forum: Which Forsaken has done the most evil? There's even a handy poll in which to vote. I've already seen some amusing answers.

Although it's wrapping up, there's still time to ask last minute questions in our Q&A session with Saladin Ahmed. I'll be posting all the questions and answers here on the front page once this session is completely finished.

Our Humor Blogger is running a competition in the Artists, Crafters, and Writers Guild to see who can submit the best potential image for his new blog. If you'd like to see your art featured every week as the humor blog icon, there's still time to see if you have what it takes!

Have you played the Band of the Red Hand Social Group's Originals vs. Covers game? Two versions of each featured song will be posted: an original version and a cover version. You simply vote for the version you like the best. The song "Hallelujah" is currently on the hot seat.

The Brown Ajah is just about to start their Travel & Olympics Month festivities in the White Tower & Warders Social Group. The event will begin on August 1st and will last the entire month. See the thread I linked above for an overview of activities.

If you missed the A Memory of Light panel from LibertyCon, don't fret! The guys from tWotcast have it available as a podcast episode that you can download from their site.

I hope everyone is enjoying the new bloggers so far. This week, we'll also hear from our new Rotating Features Blogger.

It's time for our Q&A session with Saladin Ahmed! Anyone can participate. Just head to our General Discussion forum and find this thread.

Everyone's talking about the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. We're talking about it too, so come to our Movies and Games Discussion forum to let us know how you liked it.

The Black Tower Social Group's July discussion on video games is still going on. The thread I linked also contains links to the related discussions for the month, so be sure to read it carefully.

It's time for the Shayol Ghul Social Group's latest Caption Faction game! It's easy to play. Simply take a look at the featured picture and vote for the caption you think would best fit with it.

The Blue Ajah's much anticipated annual Harry Potter Week at the White Tower & Warders Social Group is almost here! The event will take place from July 25-31. Watch this space to keep up with each new thread as it starts.

That's all for now. Have a great week!

We're back! The much anticipated debut of the new bloggers will occur this week. Stay tuned for some great new content from them.

Saladin Ahmed, author of Throne of the Crescent Moon, will be visiting Dragonmount for a Q&A session next week. Look here for more information on the upcoming visit.

We recently posted about Brandon Sanderson's reading of Chapter One from A Memory of Light at Comic-Con. If you'd like to discuss this in depth, head over to our A Memory of Light Spoiler Discussion forum and let us know what you think.

The theme for the Artists, Crafters, and Writers Guild's July Challenge is "Under 100". If you write something, it needs to be under 100 words. If you do crafts, you have to spend less than $100. Whatever you decide to do, the only rule is that it somehow has to stay under 100.

The Aiel Social Group is bravely tackling another difficult topic this month: sexuality. Anyone who can participate reasonably and in a mature, respectful fashion is welcome.

The Kin Social Group is currently celebrating National Short Story Month. If you're a lover of stories, which I'm sure applies to everyone here, keep an eye on their guide to the month's events.

What happens when a Darkfriend and a newly minted Black Ajah member join forces? Find out in the role play A Web of Black Silk.

Were you at Comic-Con this weekend? If so, we'd love to hear about your adventures! You can also hear about some of the shenanigans from the weekend on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

Dragonmount Weekly Roundup: July 1-7, 2012

First and foremost, I want to give you all a heads up about the next two weeks. Because I'll be gone during this time, we'll be having a hiatus from our regular blogs on the front page. I'm writing this week's roundup and Wednesday's audiobook giveaway in advance. However, there won't be a roundup for next week, and you won't see our regular blogs or the debut of the new writers until the week of July 15th. Don't fret, though, because there's still plenty of things in our forums that can occupy your time!

Here's a question that has been on many people's minds: What role will Padan Fain play in A Memory of Light? We're curious to hear your opinions, so head to our A Memory of Light Spoiler Discussion forum and let us know what you think. Remember, this forum has rules, so be sure to read them before posting.

Do you think pick up lines would be used in the Wheel of Time world? It's amusing to pretend they would be, like the Aiel Social Group is doing in this thread. They already have some creative ideas in there.

It looks like the Band of the Red Hand Social Group revived their Tune or No Tune Game. It's easy to play--just vote for whether you think the song is good enough to qualify as a tune, or bad enough to qualify as no tune. "Home" by Phillip Phillips is on the hot seat right now.

The topic for the Wolfkin Social Group's July discussion is trips. How do you prefer to travel? Where have you been? Where would you like to go? You can talk about all those things and more in the thread.

I've always liked seeing the different ways role players handle breaking someone's channeling block. One of those opportunities just came up in the role play Double Time. I wonder what innovative route to success they will take?

That's it for now!

It's hard to believe it's the end of June already. Yikes!

The denizens of our General Wheel of Time Discussion forum would like to know the following: How many times have you read The Wheel of Time? I love how our forums cater to everyone, from those who have just discovered the series for the first time to those who have read the books fifteen times or more.

One of my bosses (yes, Jennifer Liang, I'm looking at you) will probably be disappointed if I don't feature the following thread, so here I go. If you have seen Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, please report to this thread in the Movies and Games Discussion forum and see if you agree with the review posted there. I know opinions of this movie can be quite diverse.

The Ogier Social Group would like to know which time periods interest you the most. Whether you'd like to study them or live in them, I'm sure you have a favorite or two. You can learn a lot about people from their responses to this question.

If you miss cage match season and want something to tide yourself over until next year, the White Tower & Warders Social Group is hosting a mini cage match featuring only Warder characters. This thread will tell you everything you need to know.

Here's something I've never seen before. It's a role play from a Fade's point of view. Read Awakening and see if you can handle seeing the world through the non-eyes of a Fade.

Until next time, folks!

Before we begin, I would like to express my gratitude to all the fathers out there. Father's Day was yesterday here in the USA, so I hope the dads out there got a chance to relax and be spoiled. I would also like to give a shout out to my father, who has been one of my biggest supporters and has instilled in me many of the values I hold most dear.

Here's an interesting question from our General Wheel of Time Discussion forum: What characters does Brandon Sanderson write the best? We've heard more in the past from those who criticized his portrayal of some characters, so it's nice to see a more positive approach to this topic.

The Black Tower Social Group has started a new monthly discussion series. This month, they are talking about role playing. This looks to be a very informative discussion.

The Wolfkin Social Group is discussing camping this month. Have you done much camping in your life? If so, where? Did you enjoy it?

Some of you may know that JordanCon will be hosting DeepSouthCon next year. This year's DeepSouthCon was this weekend, so if you want to hear about the exploits of the JordanCon representatives who attended this year, check out the JordanCon Twitter account.

Welcome back, everyone! Things seem a little quieter than usual because it's exam and graduation season, but we still have plenty for you to do around here.

The famous science fiction writer Ray Bradbury sadly passed away on June 6th. Come pay your respects in our General Discussion forum here.

I was shocked to find there was no thread in our Entertainment Discussion area of the boards for the recent Tony Awards show, so I just started one. Surely I'm not the only Broadway geek here!

The Black Tower Social Group has posted the June edition of their newsletter, the Tainted Times. I haven't seen one of these in awhile, and they have lots to report, so be sure to check it out.

The Ogier Social Group recently posted their June literary topic. Who do you think is the best support character for a protagonist?

The Wolfkin Social Group is playing a game of Caption This! The rules are simple: for each picture posted, come up with a funny, silly, or otherwise amusing caption. Wolfkin members who post the best ones can earn points for them.

Our friend and fellow Wheel of Time fan Kristen Nedopak is still seeking funding for her Skyrim video parodies. Go here to read more about these awesome videos and donate!

I hope everyone is doing well this week. I just celebrated my birthday, so I'm feeling great! Let's see how the various sections of our site are kicking off the month of June.

I just posted a call for applications for two new bloggers, so if you haven't seen it yet, take a look. I'm looking forward to seeing lots of you applying!

As a person who enjoys mythology, I just have to pimp out this thread in the Structured Wheel of Time Discussion forum. Robert Jordan wove threads of numerous mythological traditions into his books. Come discuss those mythological inspirations here. Remember, this particular forum has rules that you need to read before posting.

The June Challenge in the Artists, Crafters, and Writers Guild is Exploration. Whether you're exploring a new geographical location, an area of space, a new career, or yourself, they'd like you to share it using your favorite artistic medium.

Speaking of exploring, the Aiel Social Group would like to explore the topic of religion for their June discussion. If you want to join in, be sure to read the rules listed in the first post of this thread, and don't forget to be respectful of others.

June is the Kin Social Group's birthday month! They have parties and exchanges going on already, and the month has barely begun. Check out this handy guide to the month's events and come party with them!

If you want more menagerie madness, check out the role play Trouble in Paradise. This role play has just started, so I'm eager to see how it unfolds.

Alright, it's time for me to eat more birthday cake and time for you to fill up my inbox with blogger applications. I look forward to hearing from many of you!

I am calling for applications for two people to join my staff as bloggers. Applications for these positions will be open until Friday, June 15th.

Description of the Job Positions:

1. The first open position is for a new Theory Blogger to take over for Despothera, who sadly no longer has time for this position. This person will be responsible for a short weekly column about WoT theories. You can read Despothera's old articles here if you need to see examples. You do not need to make the blogs as long or detailed as he did, but you can if you wish.

2. The second open position is for a WoT Humor Blogger. This blog is brand new and will be a regular feature on Wednesdays. This person will be responsible for a short weekly column featuring a combination of existing WoT humor from around the Internet (e.g. Mat's Inbox, the WoT lightbulb jokes, the WoT Lolcats) and creating their own WoT humor content.

Job Duties for Both Front Page Blogger Positions:

1. Bloggers are expected to produce content in their respective areas for the front page once per week. They must be able to meet deadlines in a timely manner.

2. Bloggers occasionally will be called upon to assist the Front Page Admin with brainstorming new ideas for features.

3. Bloggers are expected to dedicate time each week to the Front Page Bloggers Staff Board and the DM Staff Board. As members of DM Staff, they act as representatives of the members of DM and their input is vital in the decision making process. Bloggers should be actively engaged in discussions on staff boards.

4. Bloggers must be able to give at least a 6 month commitment of approximately 5 hours per week. LOAs will come up, of course.

Anyone who thinks they can fulfill the requirements may apply. Strong candidates are people who possess the following qualities: efficiency, writing ability, organizational skills, creativity, maturity, and the ability to work well with others.

The Application Process:

If you are interested, please send an email to frontpage@dragonmount.com.

In each application, please include:

* Your DM Handle.

* Some details about who you are in real life, including anything you think will have prepared you for leadership (including past online leadership experience).

* A sample of your writing consisting of at least three short paragraphs. This can be in the form of a brief essay, a blog, a school paper, a newspaper article, a forum post, a short story, or a role play. You do not have to write something new for this application; in fact, many of you already have forum posts that are long enough to count. I mainly want to get an idea of your writing style.

* Anything else that you think would set you apart from other applicants.

Note: Please specify the position for which you are applying (Theory Blogger or Humor Blogger) in your application.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I will try to answer them.

I hope Memorial Day has been going smoothly for everyone so far. Things are a little quieter around here than usual because of the holiday, but we still have plenty for you to do.

First up, our General Wheel of Time Discussion forum residents have posed an interesting question. If you could be any character from the Wheel of Time or any character from another book series, who would you be?

Do you know if your favorite television shows are returning in the fall? If not, take a look at the list of 2012 tv show renewals and cancellations in our TV Show & Sports Discussion forum.

If you're familiar with the Eurovision Song Contest (or if you just like listening to Europeans belting out the occasional silly, strange, or sugary song), come discuss the contest in the Band of the Red Hand Social Group. If you don't know what Eurovision is, it's sort of like American Idol, but with Europeans instead of Americans and the songs themselves being voted on instead of the singers. Some well-known artists and groups, including Celine Dion and ABBA, were launched into the international spotlight after their songs won Eurovision.

The Ogier Social Group has started a series of monthly history topics. May's topic is ancient coins. It's amazing what you can learn about a civilization from one small coin.

It's been awhile since I've seen a role play set in the Threefold Land, so I was excited to stumble upon one today. Rhuidean trips are quite intriguing, and this one is no exception. Check out Would Have Never...

JordanCon has recently announced next year's Guests of Honor. The author Guest of Honor will be Seanan McGuire. The artist Guest of Honor will be Michael Whelan. Go here for more information on these eminent guests.

It's time for another weekly roundup! Let's see what's going on in our forums.

I think it's safe to say that Wheel of Time references can seem very strange to the uninitiated. Despite this, it's often hard to turn off the part of our brains that thinks about things in a Wheel of Time context. Embarrassing hijinks may ensue as a result. What embarrassing things have you done as a result of this series? Drop by the General Wheel of Time Discussion forum and let us know.

Diablo 3 was recently released, so for all you gamers out there who want someone to obsess with when you aren't playing the game, we have just the thread for you in our Movies and Games Discussion forum. Do you like the game, or does it fail to meet your expectations?

The Aiel Social Group recently released the Spring Edition of their newsletter, The Dedicated Spear. It's chock full of cool features and information.

The Kin Social Group is doing a post card swap for May. It's still not too late to participate, so hurry on down so you can participate in one of their most popular exchanges.

Yet another Social Group has put up a recent newsletter for your enjoyment. Check out the Wolfkin Social Group's May edition of PawPrints!

I've always enjoyed reading role plays of the Accepted test Arches. The latest one I've seen, A Trip Inside Herself, is well-written and entertaining. Take a look at it if you're looking for a good read.

Until next time, everyone!

Yesterday was Mother's Day in the USA, so I hope all the mothers out there had a chance to relax and feel special. I'd like to give a shout out to my mother, who is an absolute saint and the best mother in the world.

If you are looking for a good fan-made Wheel of Time RPG to play, check out A Game of Stones. It's a free, browser-based RPG. For more information directly from one of the game designers, be sure to check out the thread I linked above in our The Wheel of Time in Other Media forum.

Speaking of games, if you enjoy playing Mafia and haven't been to our DM Mafia Games forum yet, stop on by! If things look overwhelming at first, read this handy introductory guide. There are also plenty of experienced players who would be happy to help orient you.

The May Challenge for the Artists, Crafters, and Writers Guild is Journeys. What journeys have you taken in life? Show us through your favorite artistic medium.

It's time to send in your nominations for the Black Tower Social Group's May Shockwave Competition. The deadline for submissions will be May 24th.

Come one, come all to the Ogier Social Group's Ice Cream Social and Rank Advancement Celebration! This group is reviving itself under new leadership, so be sure to keep an eye on them for exciting changes!

That's it for now. Stay tuned, because the 4th Age Podcasters will have new episodes for us soon!

It's a busy time of year for many of us, but even that won't stop us from taking time for our online home. We have a lot going on this week!

We recently revealed Michael Whelan's cover art for A Memory of Light. For many, the cover art broaches more questions than it reveals answers. If the chatter on the front page isn't enough for you, we also have a discussion thread on the cover art right here in our forums. Yes, you may use spoilers in that thread.

It seems like everyone is rushing to see The Avengers in movie theaters, and I have heard nothing but rave reviews of it from my friends who already saw it. Have you seen it? If so, how was it? You can tell us more either here or in this thread in our Movies and Games Discussion forum.

The Aiel Social Group wants to know about your fond memories from childhood. What games, movies, tv shows, books, and toys were your favorites? Be sure to let them know here.

The White Tower & Warders Social Group invites you to the Month of the Greats! This event is hosted by the White and Blue Ajahs and celebrates people who have made an impact in such diverse fields as the sciences, philosophy, literature, and more. You can follow the thread I linked above for updated links to the various events or simply keep an eye on this Social Group's main board.

School's almost out, and summer is almost here! The Wolfkin Social Group's May discussion is all about summertime. What do you enjoy doing in the summer? If you have vacation then, where do you like to spend it?

Ooh, I spy a main plotline role play! It's been awhile since I've seen one. This one is brought to you courtesy of the Band of the Red Hand Role Playing Group and is called This is Some Rescue...

That's all for now. Stay tuned for Wednesday, when I post this month's audiobook giveaway!

Welcome back, everyone! Although I have been back from JordanCon for a week, I'm still recovering. I had a fantastic time, and I hope to see more of you next year.

Those of you who read the excerpt from the A Memory of Light Prologue from our front page are probably itching to talk about it, but don't want to spoil anything for those who do not want to read it yet. We have set up a Prologue discussion thread that allows spoilers just for you. Make sure to keep all spoilers inside that thread!

It seems that this year is going to be packed full of superhero movies! Perhaps we geeks are taking over the world after all. Which upcoming superhero movie excites you the most? Voice your opinion in our Movies and Games Discussion forum.

The Artists, Crafters, and Writers Social Group is spearheading the creation of a Dragonmount Social Group Board Game. Currently, they are holding a competition to see which group can send in the most card ideas for the game. For the full details about the creation of this unique game, read this thread.

Even though the event is wrapping up, you still have time to participate in the White Tower & Warders Social Group's Shakespeare Week. Check out this thread for a guide to the week's events.

It's almost time for JordanCon! I can barely contain my excitement. Since I will be at the convention, you won't be seeing a roundup from me next week. If any of you are going, don't be shy about saying hi when you see me.

Welcome back, everyone! With Moiraine in the Suvudu finals and JordanCon on the horizon, the fandom has a lot to be excited about.

The General Wheel of Time Discussion forum has a creative twist on a tired topic. Instead of waxing philosophical about why they hate their least favorite characters, posters are challenged to say something nice about a character they dislike. Even if you're skeptical, try it!

The results are in, and we've already begun announcing some of the Empy Award winners. Watch this space to discover the winners, congratulate them, and read the comedic stylings of some of the award presenters.

It's time for the April Challenge in the Artists, Crafters, and Writers Guild. This month's theme is Foolishness. If you think you can create something that represents this theme, do share it with them!

The Empy Awards aren't the only awards being handed out this week. The Shayol Ghul Social Group is in the middle of honoring its members with the Ghoulie Awards! Watch this space to see who takes home the prizes.

I hope everyone got through April Fool's Day unscathed! We had our share of pranks for the holiday, such as a pretend new Social Group and an elaborately created fake staff board. Take a look at these links quickly, since they will only be up for a few more days. Now that things have calmed down around here, let's look at what's going on this week.

The term "ageless" is thrown around a lot in The Wheel of Time when Aes Sedai are being described, but does anyone know what agelessness would actually look like? Who knew that the members of the Shayol Ghul Social Group had a hankering for haiku? I certainly didn't, but it seems to be the latest trend over there. I see a few different threads, including this one and this one.

Welcome back, dear readers! We've updated and changed some things around the site since the last roundup, including the site skin. What do you think of the new look?

Now that nominations are a thing of the past, it's time to vote in the Empy Awards! Be sure to stop by and contribute with your votes. Here's an interesting topic I've never encountered before: Who is the most "tortured soul" in sci fi/fantasy? Come to our General Discussion forum and see if you agree with the picks so far. Have you read the latest entries in "The Gossip Ghul"? That's right, in addition to being evil, the members of the Shayol Ghul Social Group love tabloids. If you still can't imagine what their favorite tabloid is like, just head over and see for yourself!

Our role players have the Green Ajah out of the Tower because of a book. If you're wondering why the Greens would be going on an adventure that sounds more like a Brown Ajah member's idea of a good time, check out the role play And All for a Book.

Today's roundup will be a little shorter than usual because my Internet is being mean to me and running extremely slowly. I still made it here, though!

Speaking of opportunities on the front page, I'm looking for a new Fan Art Friday blogger. Jenn sadly no longer has the time to devote to it.
Welcome back, everyone! Let's see how the various sections of Dragonmount are kicking off the month of March.

If you visit our General Wheel of Time Discussion forum, you'll encounter a question that's sure to inspire interesting comments: Who thinks Rand is insane? Those of you who enjoy theories should take a look at this.

Speaking of making things, it's Arts & Crafts Month at the Kin Social Group. Visit the thread above for a guide to the month's events.

This event is very dear to the Reds, so make sure to stop by!

What's this? The First Weaver of the Yellow Ajah is suddenly leaving the Tower in the middle of the night. Is she up to no good? Find out in the new role play Stabbing the Dark.
