Most people enjoy talking about couples from The Wheel of Time, and the denizens of our General Wheel of Time Discussion forum are no exception. Which couples make such odd, awkward, or terribly matched pairs that you just want to bang your head against the wall in frustration?  Let us know what you think.

It's getting closer and closer to this year's Dragon*Con!  If you're going, please stop by this thread in our Meets and Conventions board to let us know.  It's nice to get an idea of who is going, and it will give newbies to the Con an idea of who will be around to help if they feel lost or confused.

The Black Tower Social Group has posted a speculative thread where they are musing about what might happen to the Black Tower in and after A Memory of Light.  Be forewarned that there will probably be some spoilers in the thread.

It's Book Month at the Kin Social Group!  Some of this month's events include discussions about what you like to read, your favorite Wheel of Time books, and urban fantasy.  Follow the guide in this thread to keep track of all the events.

If you love playing mafia games on our Mafia Games forum, you'll probably love the upcoming Operation Domination game. Players can pretend to be various Admins and Staff members from Dragonmount, and the goal is to take over the site. (Fortunately for us, the winners don't really get to take over. I'm sure it's fun pretending, though.) Hurry and sign up while you still can. Make sure to read the rules in the sign-up thread and the forum rules before playing.

The Aiel Social Group is discussing the elderly for the month of August. What is the place of the elderly in your culture?

The Black Tower Social Group will soon begin hosting their own Summer Olympics. All factions from the group will battle against each other in several entertaining contests. More information can be found in this thread.

Speaking of the Olympics, the Wolfkin Social Group has decided to tackle the topic of sports for August. What sports do you like and dislike? Would you rather play them or watch them? These questions and more are addressed in the thread.

Although it's wrapping up, there's still time to ask last minute questions in our Q&A session with Saladin Ahmed.  I'll be posting all the questions and answers here on the front page once this session is completely finished.

Our Humor Blogger is running a competition in the Artists, Crafters, and Writers Guild to see who can submit the best potential image for his new blog.  If you'd like to see your art featured every week as the humor blog icon, there's still time to see if you have what it takes!

Have you played the Band of the Red Hand Social Group's Originals vs. Covers game?  Two versions of each featured song will be posted: an original version and a cover version.  You simply vote for the version you like the best.  The song "Hallelujah" is currently on the hot seat.

First and foremost, I want to give you all a heads up about the next two weeks. Because I'll be gone during this time, we'll be having a hiatus from our regular blogs on the front page. I'm writing this week's roundup and Wednesday's audiobook giveaway in advance. However, there won't be a roundup for next week, and you won't see our regular blogs or the debut of the new writers until the week of July 15th. Don't fret, though, because there's still plenty of things in our forums that can occupy your time!

Here's a question that has been on many people's minds: What role will Padan Fain play in A Memory of Light? Do you think pick up lines would be used in the Wheel of Time world? It's amusing to pretend they would be, like the Aiel Social Group is doing in this thread. They already have some creative ideas in there.

It looks like the Band of the Red Hand Social Group revived their Tune or No Tune Game. It's easy to play--just vote for whether you think the song is good enough to qualify as a tune, or bad enough to qualify as no tune. "Home" by Phillip Phillips is on the hot seat right now.

The topic for the Wolfkin Social Group's July discussion is trips. How do you prefer to travel? Where have you been? Where would you like to go? You can talk about all those things and more in the thread.

I've always liked seeing the different ways role players handle breaking someone's channeling block. One of those opportunities just came up in the role play Double Time. I wonder what innovative route to success they will take?

The denizens of our General Wheel of Time Discussion forum would like to know the following:  How many times have you read The Wheel of Time?  I love how our forums cater to everyone, from those who have just discovered the series for the first time to those who have read the books fifteen times or more.

One of my bosses (yes, Jennifer Liang, I'm looking at you) will probably be disappointed if I don't feature the following thread, so here I go.  If you have seen Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, please report to this thread in the Movies and Games Discussion forum and see if you agree with the review posted there.  I know opinions of this movie can be quite diverse.

The Ogier Social Group would like to know which time periods interest you the most.  Whether you'd like to study them or live in them, I'm sure you have a favorite or two.  You can learn a lot about people from their responses to this question.  

If you miss cage match season and want something to tide yourself over until next year, the White Tower & Warders Social Group is hosting a mini cage match featuring only Warder characters.  This thread will tell you everything you need to know.

Here's something I've never seen before.  It's a role play from a Fade's point of view.  Read Awakening and see if you can handle seeing the world through the non-eyes of a Fade.

Before we begin, I would like to express my gratitude to all the fathers out there.  Father's Day was yesterday here in the USA, so I hope the dads out there got a chance to relax and be spoiled.  I would also like to give a shout out to my father, who has been one of my biggest supporters and has instilled in me many of the values I hold most dear.

As a person who enjoys mythology, I just have to pimp out this thread in the Structured Wheel of Time Discussion forum.  Robert Jordan wove threads of numerous mythological traditions into his books.  Come discuss those mythological inspirations here.  Remember, this particular forum has rules that you need to read before posting.

The June Challenge in the Artists, Crafters, and Writers Guild is Exploration.  Whether you're exploring a new geographical location, an area of space, a new career, or yourself, they'd like you to share it using your favorite artistic medium.

Speaking of exploring, the Aiel Social Group would like to explore the topic of religion for their June discussion.  If you want to join in, be sure to read the rules listed in the first post of this thread, and don't forget to be respectful of others.

I am calling for applications for two people to join my staff as bloggers. Applications for these positions will be open until Friday, June 15th.

Description of the Job Positions:

1. The first open position is for a new Theory Blogger to take over for Despothera, who sadly no longer has time for this position. This person will be responsible for a short weekly column about WoT theories. You can read Despothera's old articles here if you need to see examples. You do not need to make the blogs as long or detailed as he did, but you can if you wish.

2. The second open position is for a WoT Humor Blogger. This blog is brand new and will be a regular feature on Wednesdays. This person will be responsible for a short weekly column featuring a combination of existing WoT humor from around the Internet (e.g. Mat's Inbox, the WoT lightbulb jokes, the WoT Lolcats) and creating their own WoT humor content.

Job Duties for Both Front Page Blogger Positions:

1. Bloggers are expected to produce content in their respective areas for the front page once per week. They must be able to meet deadlines in a timely manner.

2. Bloggers occasionally will be called upon to assist the Front Page Admin with brainstorming new ideas for features.

3. Bloggers are expected to dedicate time each week to the Front Page Bloggers Staff Board and the DM Staff Board. As members of DM Staff, they act as representatives of the members of DM and their input is vital in the decision making process. Bloggers should be actively engaged in discussions on staff boards.

4. Bloggers must be able to give at least a 6 month commitment of approximately 5 hours per week. LOAs will come up, of course.

Anyone who thinks they can fulfill the requirements may apply. Strong candidates are people who possess the following qualities: efficiency, writing ability, organizational skills, creativity, maturity, and the ability to work well with others.

The Application Process:

In each application, please include:

* Your DM Handle.

* Some details about who you are in real life, including anything you think will have prepared you for leadership (including past online leadership experience).

* A sample of your writing consisting of at least three short paragraphs. This can be in the form of a brief essay, a blog, a school paper, a newspaper article, a forum post, a short story, or a role play. You do not have to write something new for this application; in fact, many of you already have forum posts that are long enough to count. I mainly want to get an idea of your writing style.

* Anything else that you think would set you apart from other applicants.

Note: Please specify the position for which you are applying (Theory Blogger or Humor Blogger) in your application.

I hope Memorial Day has been going smoothly for everyone so far.  Things are a little quieter around here than usual because of the holiday, but we still have plenty for you to do.

First up, our General Wheel of Time Discussion forum residents have posed an interesting question.  If you could be any character from the Wheel of Time or any character from another book series, who would you be?

Do you know if your favorite television shows are returning in the fall?  If not, take a look at the list of 2012 tv show renewals and cancellations in our TV Show & Sports Discussion forum.

If you're familiar with the Eurovision Song Contest (or if you just like listening to Europeans belting out the occasional silly, strange, or sugary song), come discuss the contest in the Band of the Red Hand Social Group.  If you don't know what Eurovision is, it's sort of like American Idol, but with Europeans instead of Americans and the songs themselves being voted on instead of the singers.  Some well-known artists and groups, including Celine Dion and ABBA, were launched into the international spotlight after their songs won Eurovision. 

The Ogier Social Group has started a series of monthly history topics.  May's topic is ancient coins.  It's amazing what you can learn about a civilization from one small coin.

It's been awhile since I've seen a role play set in the Threefold Land, so I was excited to stumble upon one today.    Rhuidean trips are quite intriguing, and this one is no exception.  Check out Would Have Never...

JordanCon has recently announced next year's Guests of Honor.  The author Guest of Honor will be Seanan McGuire.  The artist Guest of Honor will be Michael Whelan.  Go here for more information on these eminent guests.
