I'll begin with something to stimulate your fertile imaginations: "If I could channel right now I would..."  This has endless possibilities. From assembling IKEA furniture, to completing house hold chores, to creating world peace, this can be found in the White Tower.  I would love to hear your ideas!  Post them in the comments and we will see what your inner most desires are!

Dragonmount's twitter has been busy this week.  First off is a worthy cause; the Waygate Foundation is featuring an anthology of altered version of published stories.  The anthology, Altered Perceptions, features thirty-one different authors, including Brandon Sanderson.  It contains original stories deleted scenes, and original works from the contributors about how mental illness has affected them and their loved ones.  The benefits of this fundraiser will go to Bring Change 2 Mind, a non-profit organization raising awareness for mental illness. 

Think you could fight alongside Lan, Galad, and Rand?  Got to Ta'veren Tees to pick up a Blademaster Tee.

Greetings.  May you find water and shade this day.  This is the first of my Forum Roundup pieces, and my aim is to bring you the best, and most interesting items, from around Dragonmount.

I'll begin with sharing a link to a brilliant video I found doing the rounds in the Warders Guild: "The art of archery."  It shows a modern day archer using ancient techniques for better speed and accuracy.  The video is pretty amazing and shows you what may have been possible in the past, or in the Age of Legends. However, I'd still put my faith in a Two Rivers longbow if it came down to it!  Let me know your opinion.

This is of course Mat Cauthon's old favorite, "Jak o' the Shadows," best served post-battle and extremely drunk.  The Band of the Red Hand Social Group is attempting to pen new verses, and is open to suggestions.  Mirth, oosquai, and black humor will all be needed to write a good verse!  Post your efforts on the forum and let's extend this classic!

The Shayol Ghul Social Group is looking for a new Shadar Haran.  But remember, only members of Shayol Ghul can apply.  This may be the coolest sounding job ever!  Anyone who doesn't want to run thakan'dar and lead the Shadowspawn is, in my opinion, on the wrong website!

A new game has come to my attention through the Black Tower. This game allows your favorite fantasy novels to go head-to-head, toe-to-toe, mano-e-mano, to see who comes out on top.  The Wheel of Time is sadly not included because it wouldn't be fair.... We had to give the others a chance.

I am calling for applications for two people to join my staff as bloggers. Applications for these positions will be open until Monday, January 19th.

Description of the Job Positions:

1. The first position currently open is for the Forum Roundup Blogger.  This person will be responsible for doing a brief recap of some of the important events/threads happening on the forums.  Please look here for past examples of this column.

2. The second open position is for a Rotating Features Blogger. This person will be responsible for a short weekly column that will have different types of content each week. This person will work off a list of ideas for features (partly ideas that have already been thought of for you, and partly ideas you can make up and run by me for approval) and rotate the features. For instance, the first Thursday of the month could be for interviews with people who have contributed to the fandom, the second Thursday of the month could be for tips about WoT merchandise (e.g. where to get the best Aes Sedai rings), the third Thursday of the month could be a contest, etc.  Please look here for past examples of this column.

Job Duties for Both Front Page Blogger Positions:

1. Bloggers are expected to produce content in their respective areas for the front page twice per month. They must be able to meet deadlines in a timely manner.

2. Bloggers occasionally will be called upon to assist the Front Page Admin with brainstorming new ideas for features.

3. Bloggers are expected to dedicate time each week to the Front Page Bloggers Staff Board and the DM Staff Board. As members of DM Staff, they act as representatives of the members of DM and their input is vital in the decision making process. Bloggers should be actively engaged in discussions on staff boards.

4. Bloggers must be able to give at least a 6 month commitment of approximately 5 hours per week. LOAs will come up, of course.

Anyone who thinks they can fulfill the requirements may apply. Strong candidates are people who possess the following qualities: efficiency, writing ability, organizational skills, creativity, maturity, and the ability to work well with others.

First, The Hugo Awards! The deadline is fast approaching for those interested to become members and vote. You don’t even have to attend Loncon to vote! While we are on the subject, this year’s Worldcon is expected to have a strong Wheel of Time presence. On Saturday, August 16 there is a (planned) panel that will include Harriet McDougal, Maria Simons and Dragonmount user Werthead!  And to those thinking of going to Worldcon, here's a discussion thread!

Second on our agenda: Dragonmount’s annual Cage Matches. Week 3 had several exciting lineups. The winners from week 3 were Deepe, Graendal, Rhuarc and Elyas, and discussion about those battles continues here.

Hello again! I’m back after a long absence to once again start posting the Weekly Roundup. I’ve been busy moving from Houston to Phoenix, and now that I’m here, well… I’m ready to rock and roll!  And now on to what’s going on around Dragonmount this week:

First, in the Movies & Games board of the Entertainment Forum is a discussion on Dragon Age: Inquisition. If you are a fan of the series and are looking forward to this exciting new game, check this thread out. Or pop on over to the nearby thread and discuss this year’s E3!

In Shayol Ghul, this month is all about board games: Join in on a board game discussion, play board game hangman, or guess the board game.

In the White Tower and Warders, the Gray Ajah is hosting an amazing Picnic Midsummer festival! There are games, discussions, recipes, many things all about the summer picnic!

The Gray Ajah may be picnicking, but the Wolfkin are having a barbeque! Do you like to cook outdoors over an open flame? Know the difference between barbeque and grilling? Check out what the Wolfkin have to say on the subject!

Examples of current threads include: Divergent (Movie), Pokemon XY (Game), the NBA Playoffs  and Arrow (television series).  For those of us who watch Game of Thrones, there are even two separate threads to discuss this show: the SPOILER thread, where you can talk about the books to your heart’s content and the SPOILER-FREE thread, where discussion is limited to only currently-aired episodes.

The Ogier are still hosting Springtime Hangman and now have an open discussion: Would you rather be Hot or Cold? Even if you aren’t a member of the Ogier, you can still benefit from these two amazing posts.

These annual awards, handed out by the most twisted Social Group in all of Dragonmount, celebrate categories like “Member with the most swagger” and “Most Likely to take over the world and/or Dragonmount.” Voting closes May 1, so get your vote in soon!

Good morning once again! Now that all the post-JordanCon dust has settled, we return to the Weekly Roundup with several moments of exciting news stretching all across the world of the Wheel of Time and Dragonmount.

Because it has been a few weeks since we’ve had a Weekly Roundup, this one is super sized, packed with all sort of exciting information!

First, and perhaps the most exciting is that The Wheel of Time series has been nominated for a Hugo Award! The entire series is nominated as a single work because it is (finally) a complete set. This award is the most prestigious Science Fiction writer’s award. To be eligible to vote, you must be a member of this year’s World Con, taking place in London from August 14-19.

Second, we have two brand-new shiny Social Group leaders. The Black Tower is now led by the one and only Panchi! The Wolfkin are now officially led by their long serving former Beta wolf Davrick. With the new Social Group leaders, the Social Groups are sure to make some amazing new changes.

The ACW Tuathan’an Camp is also undergoing some changes: to help track their new Way of the Leaf System the Tinkers are restructuring the Showcase to track the Way of the Leaf ranking system. Tinkers are encouraged to check out the new pinned threads in the Showcase to learn more details about the new ranking system.

Game of Thrones fans: After last week’s exciting episode, many of you might want to know where you can go to discuss the television series and the book series that inspired it, A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin.  Never fear! In the Entertainment board, there are two Westeros-centric threads: the Spoiler Thread and the Non-Spoiler Thread.

The Aiel have posted their new monthly discussion on Markets. What is it like to shop in your area of the world, in the small, local markets? Read here to find out the interesting places where some of your fellow Dragonmount members spend their money.

In the slow times of JordanCon, the Band of the Red Hand discussed alternate places to host a meet-up, other than the famous convention.  Where would you host a meet-up for fellow Dragonmount members?

The Kin have some excitement as well! First, they have a wonderful discussion on Herbology. Do you have any herbal remedies you use for your illnesses? Discuss it here! Also, the Kin have announced a new Council Member: Ryrin has agreed to help the Kin as a staff member responsible for membership (including new members) and the sashes.

The Wheel has spun, and now, April is almost upon us. With that, there are many exciting changes that are soon to take place in Dragonmount.

One important part of the month of April is JordanCon! To those of you who are lucky enough to go, congratulations! For the rest of us, there is Dragonmount.

Black Tower members have stumbled upon the all-important Secret Diary of Sarumon the White.

There are three new interesting threads up on the Movies and Games Discussion board. The first is about the game Thief. The second is about 300 Rise of an Empire. The third thread is about Divergent. Have you seen any of these movies or played these games? Join the discussion!

And in the TV Show and Sports Discussion board, there is a new thread of interest: Major League Baseball 2014. Are you a baseball fan? Do you have a favorite team, player, or least favorite of either? Here’s the place to talk about it.

And don't forget, today is the last day to submit nominations for the Hugo Awards.  This is the last year Robert Jordan is eligible.  Check out the article here for more details.

The Wolfkin monthly discussion about music and the monthly game, an acronym game, is well under way. It’s not too late to join the discussion or play with the Wolfkin in their home!

Aiel monthly activities include a Movies by the Alphabet game and a discussion of Art and inspiration.

In the Arena, the Band of the Red Hand has a snowball game planned for the month of February. Sign-ups are in progress.

In Shayol Ghul, the factions are at war. Each faction will choose a character, play the “Who’s in the Cookpot” game (where the Social Group members are put in the cookpot), dress your character, and participate in a faction raid.

It’s Monday, and that means it is time for a new edition of the Dragonmount Weekly Roundup! This week has been an exciting week, with lots of big changes and updates, site wide!

First and foremost, the ban on spoilers from A Memory of Light has been lifted. Keep in mind that some of the Social Groups and sub forums may still have bans in place regarding spoilers, and respect the spoiler policy on those boards. However, for General Discussion, you are now free to discuss any of the existing works from The Wheel of Time.

Secondly, the Empy Awards are soon upon us! Now, it’s time for nominations. Before nominating, check out this post regarding nomination rules. Nominations are open until January 29. Be sure to check out the amazing forum signatures and the Empy Categories as well.

With the change in the spoiler status of A Memory of Light, the Black Tower Social Group has started a discussion thread on The Black Tower in A Memory of Light. The discussion is sure to have some very thought-provoking and interesting ideas.

If you still are looking to discuss A Memory of Light, the Band of the Red Hand has a thread discussing the Horn of Valere and its place within the final book. This has been a month-long discussion, but now, with the spoiler policy lifted, is sure to have a much more in-depth conversation.

The Band of the Red Hand is preparing to discuss the Horn of Valere in A Memory of Light. Note that spoilers are not allowed yet, but the thread has started to prepare those interested in the discussion to begin talking about the Horn and its place within the Wheel of Time series.

The Kin are discussing motivational quotes and phrases. Is there an image, a quote, or some saying that motivates you? Share it with the Kin, and join the thread to learn more phrases that inspire.

Do you know some really neat trivia? Can you relate it to the Ogier or any other Wheel of Time Culture? The Ogier now have a trivia battle!

In Shayol Ghul, the Forsaken have taken over and are plotting the new reign for the new year. Plans include ruining resolutions, Cursing the New Year, and turning the baby New Year to the Dark One.

In the White Tower and Warders, the White and Brown Ajahs have combined forces to host an Olympic Carnival! Discussions include an opening ceremony and ball, knowledge about Sochi, Russia, a lodge for discussion, a forum signature contest, and a Winter Dessert contest.

To round out the social groups, the Wolfkin are discussing how long it is acceptable to live in pajamas.

In the Debates and Discussions board, there is a new conversation about a recent rules change in the U.S. Senate. Now, Senators can only filibuster Supreme Court nominees instead of having the chance to filibuster all nominations made by the Executive branch. What do you think of this? Discuss!

Saturday marked the 50^th birthday of the BBC series Dr. Who, and to celebrate, the BBC produced a much publicized 50^th anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor.” The TV Show & Sports Discussion forum has a special Dr. Who discussion thread, for those who have already seen the show. A new interesting thread opened in Shayol Ghul. The “What would I say?” thread is about a social media robot that looks at your Facebook statuses and generates posts for you. It told me I would say, “I’m going to start a freaking ridiculous.”
