A poem

[Sunrise Lord]

I wrote this almost four years ago for an assignment.  It's one of my best, and most original.  What do you think?

 

 

 

Supressed Twilight

 

The bitter twilight of love unprofessed

if not let go

with malice and death

will forge the mind and soul.

 

Despair will rear its ugly head

and smile its oily smile

for it will have gained the prized black thread

of a life that is no longer worthwhile.

 

The bitter twilight of love kept pent up

will scour the golden beauty of life

and pour from evil's hated cup

the black taint of spite.

 

If the immeasurable warmth of love is kept hidden away

in eternal darkness the path of your life shall lay.

What was the assignment criteria for this?

It's very lyrical; I definitely see that you are working within the sonnet form.

I don't remember, and I don't have the assignment sheet anymore.  I remember writing it, and the rhyme scheme we had to use, but not the criteria.  I want to say we were just given a certain rhyme scheme and were told to just go with it, and maybe something about Halloween, but I'm not entirely sure.

Very nice!  I think it's a sonnet, cause of the couplet at the end and the abab rhyming scheme, but that's not as important as the fact that it's a wonderful poem.
